  1. Actually, I am not looking for pity for "MY" mistake...it was just an FYI post...as YOU may have been told at booking about the Visa charge...I WAS NOT...and as I do not owe an explanation as to why I chose this cruise, date, etc. I just thought others may be interested to know. AND yes, I have been on SEVERAL cruises BUT I have never come across a charge such as this. EXCUSE ME for not being so informed. I did see info on the website after I booked, hence the reason I called & got further info & felt so inclined to share. However, I guess the utter rudeness of several of you just makes me proud I was raised in the south & have much better manners...Wow, some people never cease to amaze me!

  2. FYI for anyone planning a cruise with Royal Caribbean...if Cuba is on your itinerary there is a mandatory charge of $75 per person for a Visa whether you get off the boat or not. It is charged on your account Day 1 of sailing. This fee is not included in the cost of the cruise. I think this info should be disclosed at time of booking. The website makes it look like a treat to go there. Personally, the only reason I was interested in the cruise was to go to Cozumel. Disappointed with RCCI at this time.

  3. My DH & I will be in St KItts for in first time in a couple weeks. We are looking for something similar to a past experience in Honduras. We made a reservation with a driver for a flat rate who drove us around all day & stayed with us/waited for us, gave us a historic tour while letting us choose where & how long we wanted to stay at each stop. Is there any such service there at an affordable price? Thank you in advance for recommendations.

  4. I have booked a cruise for next March with the cruise line. I have always booked with cruise line in past...After booking, I read about booking with travel agents. I have found prices a little better. My question is...I have only paid minimum deposit with final pmt due 12/16...if I decide to book with travel agent is OK to just cancel with the cruise line? They told us when we booked we could cancel with full refund until 12/2016...btw I am looking at a different cruise...same cruiseline...Thank you...

  6. Have been doing my homework for an upcoming cruise for my husband & I...1st cruise alone...so I am anxious for this to be a memorable cruise..I am very interested in the Southern Caribbean itinerary on the Carnival Sunshine but also the Eastern Caribbean on the Carnival Magic...I have read mixed reviews on the Sunshine...so I am a little concerned about a cruise on this ship...Opinions/experiences?

    Thanks in advance!

  8. My family & I have been on several cruises...I have always booked with whichever cruise line we were cruising with directly. In my research this time I have seen 3rd party booking...with these bookings it seems the cruise prices are similar but the perks that come with them are very tempting such as on board credit & free drink packages, etc...are these perks legit & are these bookings legit?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Do you want a ship with a lot of elaborate features (rock climbing wall, water park slides, flow riders, ropes course) or do you prefer a mostly adult type ship? Smaller ship or larger ship? Traditional cruise ship dining or specialty restaurants? Suite or regular cabin?

Given the ports you have been to, I would suggest a Southern Caribbean cruise to see other islands such as St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Curacao, etc.

Elaborate features..no..we did love Liberty of the Seas which had them but we did not participate-our kids did then & we enjoyed watching others enjoy it...probably overall Mariner of the Seas was our favorite...Oasis of the Seas was awesome but too big for us..so an adult style ship I think..we enjoy going to the MDR & trying new dishes...we enjoy entertainment like comedy & some of the shows in the theatre...R & R is a big for me as I work ALOT & the only down time I usually have is on a trip...cabin...we have had balcony & it was nice but felt we were not in our room enough to enjoy for the money...we like the outside with view but interior is ok...thank you for any input...just want to get the best cruise possible

  10. My husband & I have always in the past cruised with our children. Our 1st cruise was about 16y ago with our youngest being 4yo-she is now 20yo & married SOOO we are planning to take our FIRST cruise ALONE! this year is also our 25th wedding anniversary so we want a fun, relaxing & memorable cruise. We have cruised Disney, Carnival & RCCI. We are leaning toward RCCI but are up for suggestions. We are not party animals but we are not ready for the nursing home yet. The departing ports we prefer are Port Canaveral & Tampa but Ft. Lauderdale, Miami & Charleston are options. We drive from GA so if there are other ports in driving distance that would be OK. We have been to Bahamas, Labadee, CoCocay, Castawaycay, Roatan, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, & Puerto Rico. We dont mind repeats but new places would be nice. We like a good deal but we want a good ship. Any suggestions from your experiences would be great! Thank you in advance.

  11. Just wanted to say thanks to all of u posters...I am planning excursions for our upcoming cruise early April & have really found this thread very informative & helpful....just got confirmation from Victor @ Bodden Tours that we have TEX for the day when we visit Roatan!! Not sure what we are gonna do but I am looking forward to a good day on the island!!Thanks again to all of you!

  12. Hey Ya'll-I just wanted to tell everyone how much I have enjoyed this thread. I accidently found it when trying to do some research into which excursions will be the best for our next cruise on LOS 4/25/2009!! (Just booked about 10 days ago!!) I have gone back & started reading from the beginning & taking notes. Thanks to everyone for all the good info!! I am so excited. I am still learning how this "thread works". I have never participated like this. So I am learning slowwwly! I have to limit myself to so much a day-it is so addicting!!

A couple of questions I haven't gotten answers for yet but I am still reading.

1-We (me-Julie, DH-Dean, DD, Tiffani-13) r on the Eastern itinerary-which r the best excursions? We have never been to SJ,P or L,H-we have been to P,SM. We were not impressed with the snorkeling we did there. I was concerned that the snorkeling equipment may not have been sanitized properly. So...any great ideas for a family who likes alittle history & alot of fun!!!

2-We will be driving to Miami from South Ga-any ideas to save any money as far as parking goes? We are up for any ideas....new at this-we have friends at some of the ports we sailed from in the past & rode a bus to one port with a group.

Always looking to cut corners.....the more money saved on boring details the more to spend on the fun stuff!!!

    Thanks you guys!!!;)
