  1. We searched and searched for information on this port and what to do.  Then we stumbled accross ToursByLocals.  We found Christina Auais and started talking about what we would want to see.  She made this tour and it was great!

She picked us up where the pier shuttles drop you off.  She took us straight to the ruins (giving background information on the way).  Once there she got us an expert guide who provided an excellent tour.  Then it was off to Merida.  She told us about the history of the region on our way into town.  Once there, we parked her car, downtown, and started the walking tour.  She took us to the Governor's Palace, showed us the murals that line the inner plaza (explaining them all in detail).  She walked us around the square and to the museum in the Montejo House.  She walked us through several city squares, pointing out buildings of significance.  Then we went to lunch to experience the local culture.  It was great!.  Back to the car and then we stopped for some sorbet (at a place the locals love) before returning us to the shuttle drop off.  She picked us up about 8:30 and we were back about 2:30.  Great tour, great tour guide!  We highly recommend her.

Frank, I just ran into Marty. He said to tell you he is headed to quarantine.

He looks good. Probably won't need your services any time soon.

    Miaminative,

There are few things I can think of that are worse than being quarantined with him!  Thanks for seeking him out!  I hope your trip continues to be virus free.

    Thanks,

    Frank

  3. So after a long absence, we decided to use the fccs and book something.  we went to our go to site, that can't be mentioned here.  they gave the option to filter cruises by those which require a vaccine and those that do not (not all of our travel companions are).  We narrowed it down to a couple that did not require it, shared the news and asked opinions.  Tonight, we went back to the site only to find that feature disabled and all RCCL cruises labeled as "vax required"  Thinking I had lost it, I reached out to the TA site.  They confirmed that about 2 hours ago, RCCl sent an email stating that vax would be required for all cruises from US.  I asked what would happen to the people who booked in the time that the vax was not required for some sailings.  Of course, the TA had no idea.  Just wanted anyone else who was questioning their sanity to know "it's not you!" it really changed.

  4. Locker lounge is just a few blocks from the ocean in the Art Deco area.  There are lots of restaurants.  Honestly, we just walked around a lot until lunch.  Lots of architecture to see, ocean is beautiful, not a lot of stores.  Worth seeing, but I wouldn't plan an exceptionally long time there, unless you want to drink or hang out on beach.

  5. Bamachic50, we have been to Nachi before, and are planning on going again, soon. You just tell your waiter when you want a taxi, and he (or she) will get it for you. He will come and tell you when it is there and ready. We usually go straight there and head back earlier....avoiding the extreme heat.

Don't do massages so I can't help you there.

Make sure you get the grouper!! It is my favorite!
