We had a booking that was cancelled in March.  We booked it using 2 future cruise credits that will be expiring this week.  Since we obviously can't cruise now, do this mean I lose me FCC's? I called my PCC, and he couldn't give me an answer.

I think under the circumstances they will extend them. We had a cruise to Australia planned in January 2018. In December 2017, I was diagnosed with stage 3 BC. I needed to undergo Chemo, surgery...you know...the works.  My husband called, explained and they changed the date of our FCC out 3 years.  Just call and ask, They cancelled, you did not. BTW: I am in remission now 12 months and counting. Just booked Iceland and France for next year.

  2. Truly varies.

When flying SWA I tend to overpack because I can...

But one cruise we had a tight connection & arrived about 1PM in FLL & I was paranoid if we had to wait for luggage if we were running late...SO we did a 7 day cruise with just a carry on & backpack each (and STILL had some unworn clothes!!!)

One thing I figured out quickly is that we change clothes A LOT, so clothing can be worn more than once.

1--breakfast at buffet/beach port days-- 2 pair black shorts & 3 tees cover this

2--pool/beach--1 swimsuit & cover up. I never need more than one. If damp, dries QUICKLY in the sun

3--afternoon after pool time--1 pair casual black capris & 3 tops

(one pair flip flops covers #1-3)

4--evening--I have done this with 2 pair dressy black capris & 7 dressy tops. I might trade some tops for dresses. Can vary. This is where I like MORE--I like a different pair of shoes each night! I rarely get this dressed up at home for nights out so I ENJOY it!

I like how you think. I am going to try on our next cruise to follow your example.

  3. I am so sad reading some of these stories from solo cruisers. No one should be lonely on a cruise. Ignoring someone at your table is just unacceptable.

Maybe the cruise line should have a question on the online check-in asking the solo cruiser 1. Do you want to be seated with other solo cruisers ? 2. Which Dining time would you like to choose. (Anytime Dining should not be an option because you run into the issue). MD should know ahead of time who the solo cruisers are. His job is to make sure everyone is happy. Any thoughts?

  4. I think you got lucky as it has been my understanding that among the exclusions for the 1 category upgrade has been an upgrade from C2 pricing for a C1 cabin.

I am not so sure about it being lucky as we have two other couples joining us and they had the same thing happen. We all made reservations at different times. One couple made their reservation 2 days after us (July 5) and the other couple made their reservation 2 or 3 days ago. We also had a C2 for the price of a C3 three years ago on a Celebrity Baltic Cruise. I am thinking the operative word is "category" C1 is excluded from an upgrade as that is the highest of the category. Thoughts?

  5. We just booked a cruise for 2019. As Captain Club members, one of the perks is a one category upgrade. As I understand it, you cannot upgrade outside the category. Concierge to Concierge, Aqua to Aqua.

For instance, when we called the travel agent, we picked a C2 stateroom but asked her to ask about the upgrade when calling Celebrity to book. We gave her a C2 cabin # and a C1 cabin # we knew was as available. We ended up with the C1 Aft Facing Stateroom (our favorite) for the price of the C2 Veranda. My understanding is that you need to request at time of booking. Wondering about others experiences.

  6. Go for it! We always cruise with one, works well over the outside of the bathroom door.

We always take an OTD clear shoe holder but we have always hung ours inside but that is just me. We also take a hanging "drawer" for the closet...sold in the same place as the shoe holder. Gives you extra "drawer" space. also, with a third person, you can take your open suitcase under the bed as an extra drawer. The other one is a great hamper. Works every time. Have fun!

  7. I'm only paying $1000 pp R/T from lax to auk/ syd to LAX in January. It's coach not business class.

We are flying SFO to SYD ; then Auckland to SFO on Qantas January 16th. Coach not Business. Price was $2211 R/T for the two of us. Booked it back in March. Haven't seen it that low since. Actually just checked it tonite and it is around $3400 now.

  8. Actually on the Silhouette last week they described Evening Chic (not Elegant Chic as noted above) as less formal than "formal night". They even referenced it was okay to wear nice jeans.

Honestly, people on this thread are getting way too worked up about the dress code. They are not that picky. Just don't wear shorts or tank tops and you'll be fine. This is a relaxing cruise, don't get all stressed out about something as silly as clothing. Just enjoy yourselves!

Ok..thanks for the correction but it did start with an "E" right? LOL I agree. Enjoy whatever cruise you go on and don't get worked up about it. RELAX!

  9. I may get boohooed for this post but please be gentle. IMHO....I feel that "Elegant Chic" is like dressing for an Evening Wedding or maybe a Fund Raising Dinner in an upscale hotel. What would you wear? If you dress any other way, you will not ruin our evening. I personally love dressing up once in a while..... different that I would for working in an office or touring my clients looking at homes. But to each his own. The ones who will make the final decision are those that meet you at the entrance to the MDR or Restaurants. But please.....no socks with Birkenstocks ever...LOL.

  10. Lounger or chair?

We were on the Infinity 3 years ago...had a Sunset Veranda with 2 chairs and 2 loungers. If you ask and they have it, I am sure they will do what they can to help. But with the open deck, you should have 4 chairs and 4 loungers. Enjoy that cabin.

  11. We are on the Silhouette in May 2016. We are not taking the train to Berlin. We have set up a tour with Viator.com (have used them many times in the past for Europe and the British Isles). It is a 12 hour tour with pick up and drop off at the ship. The tour is called Berlin City Highlights Tour. The price was $113.76pp. Includes a local guide with visits to Tiergarten Park, Reichstag, Potsdam Plaza, Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate, The Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and Berlin's Museum Island plus a few more places. They have a guarantee on-time return to ship or they arrange your transport to the next port. I agree with previous posts about the time. Consider this a whirlwind tour and go back at a later time. We were here on our own back a few years ago and stayed at a hotel in what was East Berlin. My husband was Army Security (ASA) stationed in Bad Aibling (Bavaria) in Germany in the late 60's and never dreamed he would ever have the opportunity to step foot in the East. Quite an experience for him. Berlin is a wonderful city. A tour will whet your appetite. Viator.com

  12. We have sailed the Infinity in an Aft cabin. I think we were on Deck 9. Large Balcony! Great views and no wind.

Our favorite cabin on the ship. Would love Celebrity to offer us an upgrade to the AFT on our upcoming Baltic cruise. Can you hear me Celebrity??? I am waiting. LOL

  13. Last evening I checked our cruise for 4/29/17 Hawaiian cruise on the Pride of America for any price changes. Instead I found that there are bonus offers for the cruise being offered. The promos are a choice of one :$50 credit for shore excursion, free stateroom gratuities, Specialty Dining Package or Free Pre-Cruise Hotel night. We chose the gratutities. It increased our price by $10 pp but we felt it was worth it. They will re-book the reservation with the same room etc. Might be worth checking out.
