  1. I've been reading raving reviews about this whole day tour and am thinking of booking this for my husband and myself. $75 seems very reasonable for everything it includes.

Has anyone on here taken that tour, would they recommend it? Or know of any even better ones?

Gone with Cosol on several tours. He offers the best tour in the Caribbean. For what you get on the tour it's a steal. You experience the real St. Lucia.

  2. Any recent experiences with this tour operator?

Toured with Thenford several times including private tours. He is one of the best tour operators in the Caribbean. A fine gentleman and we highly recommend his organized tours or he can set up a private tour to fit your interests.

  3. We (fiance and I) will be stopping in St. Kitts during our Southern Caribbean cruise, and I'd like to book an excursion on the island. I've heard great things about several tour operators. I know people have asked for recommendations before, and responses regarding Royston and Javin (myislandtours) both indicate the tours are can be customizable, but has anyone actually had a tour where they deviated from what's in the itinerary?

The main differences between the two types of tours seems to be that Royston/Thenford go to Brimstone Hill Fortress and Romney Manor, and Javin doesn't but instead goes into the rain forest and to two beaches. Also, he doesn't include lunch or alcohol in his price. Royston mentions a rain forest as part of his tour on his website, but has anyone actually gone into one on Royston or Thenford's tour? If so, what was it like? Or has Javin taken anyone at their request to Brimstone?

We are really interested in experiencing a rain forest (our favorite stop during a week in Mexico was visiting Sian Ka'an biosphere), and the more active nature of that excursion really appeals to us, but we don't want to end up feeling like we missed out on the #1 "must see" attraction on the island. And at nearly twice the cost, we want to make sure Javin's tour will be best for us.

Thank you for any advice you provide!

Thenford Grey can provide private tours to fit your interests. We have taken his regular tour and private tours. He is a fine gentleman and will help you.

  4. Just have a few questions:

    1. Did you pay for your tour before or day of tour?

    2. What time did you meet for the tour and what time did you get back to the ship?

    3. Were you nervous at all about booking outside of the cruise ship?

    4. Did you have fun??? and also would you recommend this tour?

    Thanks :D

We have toured with Cosol 4 times with groups and custom private tours. He provides the best tour value in the Caribbean. St. Lucia is tough for touring because of roads, mountainous terrain, and distance between points of interest. Cosol has his tours planned precisely to keep you interested and comfortable. You will not be disappointed.

Also consider Thenford Grey on St. Kitts. A fine man and provides a great tour value. http://**********************/The_Tour.html

  5. Having been to the Caribbean over twenty five times, St. Lucia 8 times, and toured with Cosol 3 times (2 group and 1 private), I think Cosol offers the best island tour in the Caribbean.

St. Lucia is a challenge because a lot of driving is required to visit the most desirable sites. He breaks it up with stops for food (provided), drinks (provided), and photos.

The tour is very reasonable, in fact for everything you get, is underpriced. All our guides have been very good and the transportation clean and comfortable.

On our most recent tour, there were 3 vans with about 10 people each. We went as a caravan with a separate drinks truck accompaning us.

Cosol was there along the way and Yellowbird, his brother was our guide. This tour along with Thenford Grey in St. Kitts are our favorites.

  6. I have read that you can rent cars right at the cruise ship pier, but I have not seen anyone state which car rental companies are at the pier/ Does anyone know which companies are there and whether you need to make a reservation or if you can just walk up and rent a vehicle?

    Thanks in advance

We are renting from Royal in Feb. They promise to meet us at the dock. First time with them but very good response and communication. Of course, you know to verify insurance coverage with your insurance carrier and credit card providers. Confirm loss of use coverage.
