  1. The garage is closer than the open air lot. You can pay by credit card AFTER the cruise to get an exit ticket. The $100 bill issue has been mentioned in several posts so I pass that info along so that folks don't get caught with the "wrong" kind of cash when trying to get out of Cape Liberty. Typically the parking charges are $100 to $240 for a single cruise, so folks who pay in cash might expect to be able to use at least one $100 bill.

Last (hopefully) question/comment: I have read that elevators are clogged upon return. Do you have an opinion about having someone wait with luggage while one person retrieves the car?

And thank you! You are such a wonderful resource!!

  2. That parking area is still there, but it may not be an easy option until the parking garage is full. The garage automatically dispenses a parking ticket that you put in a machine to pay when you get back to get a receipt to open the exit gate. I don't know exactly how they handle the open lot parking now. Last time I used it they had someone collecting payment on entry. There must be some plan for the open lot because oversized vehicles (i.e. RV's) have to park there.

Why wouldn't you want to use the garage?

Wasn't sure how close the garage was to the ship. I did see on this thread that the machine doesn't accept $100 bills. Can you pay by credit card? We paid an attendant (via credit card) upon entering the lot. It was easy. Using a garage minimizes any concern for snow! That's nice.

  3. Well now that Bruiser's incident is out the bag, hopefully everyone appreciates that this cruise took on a completely different dynamic from that point on. As much as I love shutting down a club or draining a gin bottle dry, the last five days provided for so many special memories that had nothing to do with adult beverages or white haired vixens prancing around a dance floor. I will spare everyone from all the feels, but just know that I walked off the Anthem this morning being ride or die for four people that will never be labeled in my book as anything other than family.

As far as the Anthem goes, unless you want to chat about Adventure Ocean, the kiddie pool, the DreamWorks Character Breakfast - are you getting the gist - I really cannot offer too much from the last five days. The list of activities not attended is much longer than the list of things we were actually able to partake in. I cannot even really tell you how Dru was as a Cruise Director, although I had him on the Anthem last year and really enjoyed him.

So again my apologies for not providing a comprehensive review of my daily activities, but that really was because most of my ship time was spent just enjoying the company of two awesome little kids and appreciating even more what truly exceptional people Mr. P and White Shorts are.

On to the Escape and bye for now!

p.s. Captain Tax was kept safely in my cabin for the entirety of this trip. I'm sure many of you can appreciate the concern I had for him being a "toy" in the company of a two and three-year-old.

We're booked on Anthem in Feb. with 2 grandkids. Can you give me some more info on the Character Breakfast? Are tickets necessary?

  4. We're on a Sun departure (3/2) and are arriving from MA on Sat.

I used my Hilton points for 3 rooms @ the Hampton Inn. Any idea how far from the port we'll be? We plan on driving and parking at the port.

We're picking up a friend coming in on Amtrak on Sat. Any suggestions would be VERY welcome!
