  1. I agree CB@ Sea! Of the 24 cruises I have been on I have never encountered such a slippery surface. Believe me Grandma Dazzles, I was super careful walking. Voyager ~ I did absolutely love the Park Cafe, especially the roast beef but needed to dry off before entering. Trvlgut, we took a taxi. About a 25 minute ride to The Sea Lord. I will get the cost from my husband and post tonight. DaveKathy, Key West was bustling! Everything open and live music. Fantastic weather and I loved dining at Pincher's Crab Restaurant and poking in the shops.

  2. 12 day repositioning cruise from Boston to Fort Lauderdale ~ I loved the Itinerary, food, shows, dancing, pool games and lobster night.

Ideal balcony cabin on deck 10, lots of storage and one deck below pool and buffet. The staff in Reflections MDR was outstanding at dinner and reminiscent of days gone by. Zhelu and Oksana made our dining most enjoyable. The Windjammer Buffet was also very good. All of the staff on board was friendly, professional and helpful.

I would consider Royal Caribbean again but not the Serenade Of The Seas unless the pool area was completely refurbished assuring safety. The pool area was far too slippery. I fell 3 times and saw at least 9 other people fall. It is a dangerous surface. After falling the third time I put duct tape on the bottom of all of my shoes.

Loved having so many sea days and only got off in each port briefly except for The Hato Caves Tour in Curacao which was fantastic!

What I missed ~ There was no food available poolside on and no 24 hourrestaurant available. I also missed the pillow mints and nightly towelanimals. Little touches that meant alot.

Our post stay of 4 days at The Sea Lord in Lauderdale By The Sea was amazing! I am so happy I chose The Sea Lord forour stay! The location and room was fantastic but more than that sowas the friendly, helpful welcoming staff! Their sincere effort tomake you feel as though you mattered greatly was immediately apparentand very much appreciated! We enjoyed meeting and talking with Dana,Tatiana, Emil, Zikka and Consuelo very, very much! We would love toreturn some day!

The location was perfect and safe!Right on the ocean with shops and restaurants a short walk away withfantastic food and friendly people. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We loved sitting by the pool, gazing at theocean and walking it each day. A wonderful car ride to Key Westcompleted our trip. Time to plan another one! :ship:

  3. My husband prefers to stay home in his favorite chair watching Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Rawhide so off I go cruising solo. I love it and we're both happy! He does come every few years but I like to cruise twice a year or more if I can. I've also done many solo trips to Las Vegas, The Bahamas and more. The first time I did it I was terrified but once I did, I felt like Wonder Woman and was completely hooked! Cruising or traveling solo is the best kept secret!!

  4. Thank you for your review!

My husband and I are considering the Dawn to Bermuda for Septemberr. It will depend on whether or not we can snag a last minute deal.

How "last minute" did you wait before booking? Was your price drop significant?

I booked 2 1/2 weeks before sailing. Since I traveled solo this time and had to pay the single supplement I was happy with the price of the guaranteed insides and happy with my cabin. :)

  5. I absolutely love it! Just returned from the Dawn July 21-28th. cruise to Bermuda. Loved every minute of it and have cruised solo many times as well as traveled to The Bahamas and Las Vegas solo often. Traveling alone is the best kept secret and I meet wonderful people from all over the world! <3

The last trip I took there was a large group of seniors that wanted to travel solo but didn't want to feel alone so they joined this group that is nationwide and cruised. Most did not know anyone in the group. I ran across them frequently in the pool. I was sailing with my significant other.Sorry if I can't remember the name of their group. I also met two separate women cruising solo not in this group. One I met in the pool and the other in the buffet. They were all thrilled to be traveling solo. This was on a Jewell class ship so I am assuming at least a few of them were staying solo in a cabin despite the higher cost than sharing. I have never sailed solo but I have to admit there is a certain appeal to it. My idea of cruising is to sit on my balcony looking at the ocean, sipping tea while reading a book and just walking around the ports. My partner's idea is to go, go, go every minute. I usually just do what they want to do because I don't want to spoil their vacation but then I end up coming home and feeling like I just lived someone else's vacation. Has anyone here cruised solo? In my case is the grass always greener on the other side of the cruise (ha) or is it really nice to do whatever you want to do. Thanks.
  6. Booked this cruise last minute, traveling solo ~ Great price, great cabin! I've been in every category up to The Owner's Suite and Penthouse on previous cruises and this inside guarantee worked just fine for me especially since you can no longer smoke on your balcony. Embarkation was a breeze. I was in my cabin at 11:30. Deck 8 was ideal. Plenty of room and storage in my cabin, close to an elevator and just above the Casino and dining and below the pool and buffet.

BeeVee in The Venetian always knew my name and greeted me with a smile and desire to please making me feel as though I truly mattered. Rubellen was just as friendly and while making me towel flowers at lunch said "These are not pretty but they come from my heart." Oh!! Of course they were beautiful and I will remember that moment! <3 I also enjoyed eating at Moderno, Cagney's Orchid, The Buffet and Topsiders. Dante kept my cabin sparkling clean and well stocked. A fun week that went by way too fast!

Loved ~ The friendly helpful staff, my cabin, storage, towel animals, creative meal and dessert presentation, Casino, dancing to Big Band Music and Karaoke in The Bliss Lounge, Music in the Atrium and dancing at the pool, the line Dances and Mr. Sexy Legs Contest! St. George's little shops and $4.50 shuttle one way to Tobacco Bay. The Bermuda Triangle night time excursion with Tiana and Kevin was fantastic. I enjoyed watching the sunset and seeing the fish, coral and sunken ship. Learned that Bermuda is closer to Canada than the Caribbean but warmed by the gulf stream. Snorkel park was a short walk from the ship and $5 to enter. The water was great although a bit rocky in spots and there is live music, food and drinks available.

Didn't Like ~ Hard to get a chair by the pool. Pool was very small for the amount of people and children on board. The shortened hours in The Venetian and day 5 it wasn't open at all for lunch.

I Missed ~ The Chocoholic Buffet, Mints on my pillow at night and the poolside barbecue. Little touches that make cruising extra special for me.

  7. For Me ~ The Ship Is The Trip! I Just Want To Be On Board And My Favorite Part Is When We Are In The Middle Of The Ocean And Can't See Land. Having The Ship Pretty Much to Yourself When Everyone Else Is In Port Is Super Fantastic! If I Do Get Off In A Port I Haven't Visited Before I Always Wait An Hour Or So After The Crowd Heads Down. Much More Relaxing!

I am wondering if there is enough going on on the Norwegian Escape to view it as a destination for 7 days (without getting off of the ship)? We are in our mid-30s and are thinking about going on the Norwegian Escape or Celebrity Equinox in a balcony cabin or Carnival Magic in an outside cabin. We are thinking of booking at the last minute.

    Thanks!

  8. Misty, I have a cabin booked just a few aft of where you were. Any comment good or bad

about the location, noise or anything else about this location ? Thank you

I was very happy with the location and used the Aft elevator pretty much. It was about 80 steps for me to the room Ha! Ha! The walk from the forward elevator to my stateroom was longer and windier. For me the Aft elevator brought me right up to H2O and the adult pool or a short walk to the main pool and buffet. Going down it took me to The Manhattan Dining room and Casino on Deck 6, from there, there is an escalator to Taste on Deck 5. No noise problems at all.
  9. Thanks for your review. I am anticipating my Epic cruise this May! It's nice to see someone bring some positives to the table. Although, I do have a question. Are the beds on NCL not standard sized beds? You say you're only 5'4 and yet you couldn't fit on the bed?! If that's the case, I - at 6' - really have no hope lol!

Thank you ~ Yes, the beds are shorter than the norm. I talked with a few 6 foot and taller guys who said they found their beds to be the same and slept in the fetal position. Go for it ~ You'll love your cruise no mater what!

  10. Thanks for a very succinct review. Very good to hear of your good experiences as well as your criticisms. Many reviews of this ship focus only on the bad. I am on the Epic on Saturday and appreciate your well balanced review.

Thank you ~ Have a wonderful time. There is alot to love about The Epic!

  11. Loved your review. We're going in a few weeks. Did you play the slots? How were they? Did you see many winners?

Thank you ~ Yes, I played the Penny slots every sea day and at night when we sailed from port to port. I loved every minute of it! I did see a few winners ~ at least 10 -12 . Some of them won the Major jackpot on Banana King for over $1,100. One man won over $500 on China Shores after getting 92 free games and I heard quite a bit of yahoo screaming coming from the card tables on a a few different nights. I came home a happy girl ~ didn't win big but didn't lose big either. Enjoy your trip! :)

  12. I enjoyed every moment on board and in St. Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay. I especially enjoyed meeting and talking with people from all over the states and many different countries!

    The Good:

My balcony stateroom 10238 although small was comfortable with an amazing amount of storage.

The Manhattan, Taste, Cagney's and Shanghai restaurants were all very good with friendly staff.

The Main Pool, Waterside and Hot Tubs were crowded but I certainly did enjoy them. It was hard to find a chair if I didn't get there early. The music and dancing and pool games were fantastic though when I was there!

Most staff members were friendly and helpful.

    The Outstanding!

Outstanding Staff Members: Christina of The Casino Staff, William Parinas and Shelty Vikrant Sitara of La Cuchina and Cecilia of The Manhattan Dining Room.

The Casino was by far one of the best on my 22 cruises. Lots of terrific choices, smoking and non-smoking areas and Christina of the Casino staff was friendly, helpful and professional!

The entertainment was top notch! The performances, costumes and music were phenomenal! Burn The Floor, The Beatles, Priscilla and Howl At The Moon Dueling Pianos are not to be missed as well as the Jazz Band and more in the Atrium and Clubs, dance classes and line dancing.Loved it!

I very much enjoyed dining at La Cuchina and William and Shelty contributed to my wonderful dining experience!Dining solo, I appreciated their welcome, friendly, fun demeanor and accurate service.

Cecelia's genuine warm greeting and interest in my creative position as a Preschool Music and Movement Specialist made my night and dinner far more enjoyable!

The Buffet was some of the best food I had on board also. Fantastic choices, always fresh and something for everyone! The best soft serve Vanilla Ice Cream I've ever had on a ship.

Spice H2O Adult Pool and Dance Floor. I spent most of my time during sea days there. The pool was warm, it was fairly quiet and had a smoking area. The dance floor and large screen were so much fun at night! I met lots of wonderful people in the pool and hot tubs. Absolutely one of my favorite spots!

    Not For Me:

Smaller cabin with very poor lighting. Putting my key card in a slot to keep the lights on.

Very small shower, and toilet areas with opaque doors. The sink in the room near the entry door.

My feet overhanging the bed. I am only 5 foot 4 inches.

Making dinner and show reservations for certain! While on vacation I do not want to pick up a phone, computer or turn on the T.V. or be on a time schedule as much as possible. I prefer written communication delivered to my cabin I can keep with me for planning throughout my stay. I did not like having to turn on the T.V. daily to check messages and invitations at all.

Only 2 elevators ~ Forward and Aft.
