  1. I'm so glad to find this forum! This is our first cruise and I will be celebrating my 60th birthday and our 14th wedding anniversary while on board.

I could use all the advice everyone has regarding:

    Costume Ball (what to wear),

Excursions in Croatia, Naples, Messina Valetta

What type of on-board activities people have enjoyed

At the end of the cruise, we plan to spend 2 days in Rome.

    Open to suggestions, advice etc.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi

We found Naples quite a dirty place so got the ferry over to Capri, you could also visit Pompei which is fabulous, get the train from Naples. Dubrovnik in Croatia is just so pretty to walk round and have lunch, there is a great cafe along the walls of the city with great views. We got the train from Citiavattica, (the station is only a ten minute walk from the port) to Rome and also the subway day ticket, this was great to get all over Rome and see the sights. Hope you have a wonderful time.

  2. So why did you accept? I would not have done so. Crew areas are their own space to relax and not have to go into "service" mode. But that's just me.

Lets just say there was some romance involved and I was the one providing the service! But that's just me ;)

  3. Am wondering if anyone has ever 'experienced' the crew areas on Cunards ships. I was mistaken for being part of the entertainment and invited to the crew bar. Had a fantastic night and met great friends but then they discovered, (someone sniched) I was a passenger and was sent back upstairs. Was asked or should I say 'interogated' several times throughout the holiday who invited me but that's something I took the 5th on! :p

  4. Does anyone have any experience with P&O when they mess up their prices on their website (prices set too low), whether or not they still honour the booking.

I look forward to your thoughts

    Regards

    Hi Rob

This happened to us a few years ago, although not with P&O,when searching for our cruise we found an incredible deal for a suite on FO at a rediculously low price. We booked and paid in full and received our confirmation etc. A few days later we received a phone call from PR at FO explaining there was a 'glitch' on their system and the cruise we booked should have been approx £6000 extra. BUT, the lady explained they had spoken with directors and they would honour our booking. We could not beleive our luck. Good old FO.

    Good Luck with your booking.

  5. Hi

Would anyone know or know how to obtain the arrival and departures times at ports for Ventura's Genoa to Genoa 23rd July - 6th August cruise. On our CP is only states Early Morning for arrivals and Early Evening for departures. Thanks in advance.

  6. Select fare = old Vantage fare without the price promise. That's precisely why they introduced the new fare structure.

Who was it who led you to believe that the Select fare had a price promise? If it was with whom you made your booking then that is who you should be moaning to and maybe more than moaning if you were miss-sold the product.

It is now being sorted by our TA. My own fault really as I also should have read the small print. Did not realise the T & C's had been 'restructered'. LESSON LEARNT. Maybe we'll have the luck of the Irish and be touched by the upgrade fairy ;)

  7. Goodness gracious how come people always find this forum to moan ,when there is a price drop in their cruise, but they never seem to find it before they book, that mentions time and time and time again.

The nearer to the cruise date, prices drop.

These cheaper fares ALWAYS come with different t and c , therefore it is not the same "product" you would be purchasing.

I think we are entitled to 'moan' as we were led to beleive that if the price of our cruise, 'SELECT FARE' which we booked, not the saver fare dropped then as in previous cruises the difference would be reimbursed as OBC.

  8. Hello

I am just off the phone with P&O customer services, was enquiring if we would get an upgrade or extra OBC as the price we paid for our cruise had reduced significantly. We booked the select fare. Have been told 'NO, prices are fluid', and if the price went up they would not be asking for more money. Quite cheeky I thought but fare enough.

Am just wondering if anyone else had experienced this?

On our previous cruises with Cunard, any price change was always refunded as OBC. I thought Carnival owned P&O also.

  9. We always DIY wherever we can. Depends where you are going on the cruise? Most ports are fairly easy to DIY. Where are you going?

We are wanting to get from Livorno to Florence and know it can be a bit of a nightmare with last minute strikes etc with railways. It's just the thought of missing our connections and not making it back to the ship in time. Would spoil our day constantly worrying.

  10. Hi folks

I am wanting to book a few excursions on our upcoming cruise and there is currently a waiting list. Do P&O usually accommodate these lists when they have enough guests to fill coaches etc or shall we just 'hoof it' on our own. Many thanks

  11. I am wanting to book a birthday present 'surprise cruise' for my partner and would appreciate your help in choosing which ship to experience the queens grill. Am really considering Queen Mary as we have not sailed on her yet. Also which level of queens grill. Are the Q1's really worth going the extra mile for? Am wanting this to be really speical as I shall be popping the question, shhhhhh don't tell anyone.;) Many thanks in advance.:)

  12. Or, to while away the time, why not start a new laundry rumour? The one about the two women fighting in the laundry and/or turning up in the other one's dress is getting stale.

Love it! Only been around now for 20 years so Time for a new one:):)

The fights when a pensioner was caught throwing loads of tissue paper and gum in a machine

  13. You certainly were not rude and they were, myself and partner always use a napkin when lifting plates at the buffet, also only lifting a plate a few down as we have also noticed, 'people touching plates' and by the way we also ask the staff to remove the contaminated ones. I freak out especially if its the people you see leaving the public toilets area not washing their hands and touching things. Gross. #Good for you.
