  1. This may be a dumb question but I figured I would give it a go...

I wear glasses and can't/don't wear contact lenses. I have signed up for a catamaran cruise/snorkel in St Martins next month. I want to snorkel but how can I if I wear glasses? I don't want to buy a prescription mask. My vision is to poor to do it w/o glasses. Is there a way to do this? Will the mask fit over glasses? Am I missing an obvious solution or am I out of luck? It will still be a nice excursion even if I can't snorkel so I am not too worried about it but I would love to do it. Any feedback is appreciated :D

  2. Ok. So I am taking my mother on a cruise for her 80th birthday.

She is a fairly finicky eater partly due to taste and partly due to stomach issues.

We have been going back and forth about what restaurants to reserve in advance. I will/can eat just about anything so I don't really care. Oh, and did I mention she is incredibly indecisive:p

Can anyone give me some advice about restaurants? She likes seafood and doesn't like/can't eat spicy.

I thought she would like Ocean Blue but she didn't seem to take to the menu. Simple food seems to be the best.

    HELP! ;)

  3. I am taking my mom on a cruise for her 80th birthday. We are looking at the Getaway in April. We have zeroed in on the Spa balcony. But Is the spa mini suite worth the extra money? I might splurge on the mini-suite if it is worth it. It looks like the suite is just a little bigger and has a fancier shower. Otherwise, no real difference.

Also, is the spa worth it? It seems like a good place to go when you need to get away from the crowds. We did the tour of the thermal suites on the Epic so we have some idea of what they are like. I realize some of the value is on whether or not we think we would use it.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!!

  4. We went to Alma Plena last week. It is a really nice beach. It was quiet and uncrowded. As an AI, we didn't have to worry about anything. The food was ok and drinks were plentiful. The owners were very nice too. No water activities are included. It is perfect if you just want to go chill with a book, snooze in the sun or swim in the ocean.

    I would definitely go back.

  5. You will have more time than we ever had. On our last trip on the Jewel, "All aboard" was 3:30.

Maya Chans picks you up and drops you off back at the port at the end of the day. It is about 15 - 20 minutes each way. Bottom line is you will have plenty of time.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I was too late for Maya Chan but I did get a spot at Almaplena which seems to be very similar. Reviews seemed pretty good. It is also about 20 minutes by taxi.

  6. Just back from similar itinerary. We went to Maya Chan Beach. Owned and operated by Americans. Totally amazing - shaded palapas, beach chairs, hammocks, float chairs, banana boats, etc. It's all inclusive, and the bartender doesn't use shot glasses. Food is fantastic, and prepared by a local right in front of you.

They only have space for a certain number per day, so you don't feel the overcrowded conditions.

Cannot say enough about the place. Highly recommend! (AI also includes the taxi there and back).

I will be in Costa Maya on the Epic April 10th. We are docked 8am-5pm. Will there be enough time for Maya Chan? Their website says they are minutes from the port. I that true? The place sounds great.
