  1. drake2014 where would you suggest for Sunday the 11th (next weekend) since the pool is under construction at the Sandcastle? We don't snorkel, just looking for a nice place to be beach bums with cool water to 'refresh' ourselves and good food and drinks.

I saw that the beach pool at Sandcastle is under construction until end of November.  I would like to go somewhere with a pretty beach, pretty water, shade/umbrellas and lounge chairs, facilities (we are an older group and like our amenities) and someplace we can get a drink or two.  Without the construction noise.  Have been to Sandcastle, and wondering how Rainbow compares.  We were also considering Cane Bay for the snorkeling as well.  Would love some input from a local!

    Thank you!

I'm so glad you mentioned the pool at Sandcastle! From all the reading on this thread, that's where I would be heading on the 11th. Boy wouldn't we have been disappointed (as part of that "older group", too)!

I will be very interested in the answers you receive now that I'm looking for a "plan B" :)

  3. This will be our first stop and our first time to St Croix. We are planning to "not plan" for once. Thought we would just get off the ship and see where we end up. The Sandcastle is probably our final destination for a lazy beach day but are open to other ideas and suggestions. Here is my dilemma, the 12th is my sister's 50th birthday so I would like to surprise her with a massage this day in St Croix. I've read of "out call" services you can book ahead of time but with us not knowing our exact destination for the day, that makes pre-planning a little difficult.
From other travels, popular beaches have massage tents or clubs that offer them. If that's the case here, I would like to be able to stay flexible for the day. Are there those who offer beach side massages along the beaches here or should I just pick where I'm going so I can book the massage ahead of time?

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

  4. My sister and I will be making this stop in 3 weeks and this one will be an important one, her birthday!! I need a little help from those who have actually been on the ground there since the storms. I would very much like to be able to get her a massage on the beach that day if the mood strikes her. If you have been there in the last year, did you happen to see anyone doing beach front massages, on any beaches?

This will be our first time to this side of the Caribbean so we don't have our heart set on any certain beach right now. I'm just reading and taking notes 😉

  5. Thank you so much for the insight!! I had seen the info for the reserve and would be my first choice as a conservation site. Your helpful information is just what we needed to make sure she gets to see the monkeys and we still get to swim with some turtles.

    Again, many thanks!

  6. We are interested in this tour but seeing a few concerning reviews. Most are great but only a few this year. Anyone here have experience with this company or a company that will get us close to some monkeys? My bff has an obsession with animals and if we have a chance of feeding some, I need to find the folks who can take us there :')

  7. That helps me out some too. We will be in town on Sunday Nov 11, Veteran's Day and knowing that we are the only ship in town, on a Sunday and a holiday, we didn't know if it would be worth a trip to go anywhere except a beach right around the port.
