Which port? What time do you sail?

The check-in time will appear on the app. Check-in usually begins at least 5 hours before sailing.

You receive notification of changes to the scheduled check-in times by email if there are last minute updates. You can also enable notifications by text in the app.

Thanks for your help, I found the check in time on the app.

Change your plan and get to the port at 9:00 am.   Probably zero percent chance getting a spot if you arrive at the port at 11:00 am.

Thanks for info.   I will definitely do that, what is the earliest time they start boarding the new passengers?

  3. I understand that the sanctuary is first come, first serve. We are planning to get to the port at 11 am.  We are Reserve Collection, so hopefully we will embark in one of the earliest groups. My question is how many people does the sanctuary accommodate and does it always sell out.  Thanks!!

    Are you Platinum or Elite?

I don't know the exact order but Reserve Collection Mini Suite passengers receive priority boarding regardless of their loyalty status.  I'd say probably with suites and elites.  We always book Reserve Collection but are elite so it wasn't ever an issue.

    No we are not

  5. My wife and I were on the Sky Princess last month,  we loved it.  The ship was spectacular and the employees were great.  We booked a cruise on the Caribbean Princess for next March.  Reading many reviews, many people have stated that was a sewage smell on the ship.  Where on the ship is this smell?  Should we cancel this cruise and look for another ship?

the caribbean princess is our favorite ship.  we have been on it 16 times. yes it is 19 yrs old but it has features that not many ships have.  deck 7, the promenade deck, has a walk around outside that you can walk completely around.  also, it has skywalkers which you go up an escalator in the back of the ship to a nice big sit down area that has a bar. every evening from 5pm - 7pm skywalkers has a platinum/elite party with some food items.

we just went on it for a 10 day partial transit of the panama canal. the only negative was one of the back elevators was out of service.  there are two outside elevators that go up to deck 18 - skywalkers and down to the palm dining room on deck 6. so, with one out of service, it upset some passengers.

every cruise we have been on it the crew was fantastic.  the bartenders were excellent.  the room stewards were also friendly and efficient in keeping up our room.  we like deck 5 international cafe which is open 24/7. the make great soy milk lates with chocolate cookie dough syrup.

we also like movies under the stars - they provide lounge chairs, blankets, and popcorn.

if you have any questions, let me know.

We watched some YouTube videos, the ship looks great!   We are sailing Club Class, which dining room is used for dinner?

What features of the Sky did you particularly like?  There are definitely things on the Sky that aren't on Caribbean, such as Alfredos.  All in All, Caribbean is a nice, older ship (she's the ship I've been on the most, but that's coincidence more than anything else).

We loved the Take 5 lounge,  CP doesn’t have this.  No biggie, I am sure we will a a favorite hangout when we sail next March.

The Caribbean Princess is an older ship - different from the Sky. We like the older ships better - so it is all personal taste. We were on her last year and going again for 3 trips this year.. the layout of the ship will be different, but the Princess service will be the same. We are long time Princess cruisers so obviously we love the line - have traveled other ship lines and have Princess to be the best for us. It's good to travel on different ships and compare.

I watched a few videos of the CP,  the ship looks in great ship for the age.  We liked the layout of the Sky, easy to navigate.

  9. We went on the Sky Princess a couple of weeks ago.  The wife and I really liked the ship and Princess line,  it was our first cruise with Princess.  The cruise was a 9 out of 10.  Looking to book for next March, but the only ship that is good for us, for the dates we want is the Caribbean Princess.  We will be happy with this ship after sailing the Sky?

  10. We picked Princess since it presents itself as more upscale line without being “stuffy”.  The cruise line has a laid back feel to it, since it doesn’t have all the slides and water parks at the pool.  We are first time cruisers with Princess, hopefully it lives up to the bill!   Looking forward to our cruise!

I am leaving on cruise next Saturday Mar 11.   Have been green lane for weeks now but today it says blue lane.   Wonder what is going on....

We are leaving on March 11th also. Everything in the app has a green checkmark by it.  I don’t get it.

I do try to keep my expectations low so I can be delighted.  I think the problem is it won’t come close to living up to the hype.  There was a much better set of menus, IMO, prior to this change.  I saw them on CC.  The MDR has always been my favorite part of any cruise.  The juice bar was hyped.  Then in reality, it’s a couple of 5 ounce concoctions that may not be available when I sail.  I don’t care about the desserts, but they may also not be available.  I thought the medallion was cool, but the app has been awful.  I’m not alone in that thought. I’m still hopeful and I’m sure I will enjoy myself.  But I can’t help thinking about all those menu choices I’ll never see. Will I sail in Princess again after this?  I do not know.  But it may turn out I don’t enjoy cruising like I once did.  The last cruise as a minor disaster.  So it’s been 6 years.  I want this one to be relatively fabulous.

I am with you on this topic. We picked Princess since it presents itself as a “upscale” cruise line.  With all these cutbacks it certainly takes away that feel. I mean, no shrimp cocktail or French onion soup and drastically cutting the menu. Where is the “ upscale” on your cruise?

This was the menu on Enchanted last night. The Wellington and lamb chops were very good. Without even noticing  that shrimp cocktail wasn’t on the menu I ordered it with no problem.  I don’t like seeing the extra cost items on the menu most nights.

I am confused?   I am going on the Sky Princess soon, my first princess cruise.  Can you still order shrimp cocktail and French onion soup even though both are not listed on menu?  We are in CC dining room, does that make a difference?

    +1

    Sounds like the right attitude!

We have always had a good time, our only issue has been due to short/ late port stops on recent sailings - not Maya Chan’s fault but it has caused transport/timing problems and we will only do it when we arrive earlier in future.

    Enjoy your day.

Maya Chan sounds like a great place.   We have booked AI at the El Fuerte Resort,  anybody been there lately?  Jaimes was totally booked.
