  1. Thanks VT and everyone else for all the really useful info.  So from the sounds of it you can get any drink complimentary in the retreat lounge (beer, wine, sparkling wine, basic cocktails, night caps).

Do they get funny about you grabbing a coke or water and then leaving the lounge area?

We are also elite, so I believe we will get the 3 comp drinks per night (5-7) loaded on to our sea pass cards?

  2. Wow, thanks for all the info.  Does the self service cooler have water available?  Was thinking on getting the drinks package, but at £1000 for the 2 of us, I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

What drink brands (wine, beer etc.) can you get in the retreat lounge complimentary?  Are the complimentary drinks (the non self service ones) available all day?

we are staying in one of the end S3 with the window in the side, has anyone stayed in one of these?

we have noticed like others that the balcony furniture is not up to standard.  Has anyone managed to get a table high enough to eat of? We like to eat on the balcony as well as play a lot of cards.

Thanks again for all the useful info!

  3. We recently upgraded to a Sky Suite (S3 Deck 6) via the move up program.  I have tried searching, but can’t find anything.  Are the food and drinks served complimentary if we have no drinks package?

  4. With the 2020 itineraries now on sale, we are considering the July 24th QM2 21 night sailing Southampton, New York, Corner Brook, Halifax, Reykjavik, Oban, Grennock, Southampton.

Previously we have sailed balcony cabins on celebrity, suite on Royal Caribbean, suite on P&O...We like good food (although exclusivity is not important), we prefer to have flexibility in dining time (we achieve this by either flexible / my time dining, as well as using specialty / alternative dining options) a nice places to have a drink and relax, we will also spend time relaxing in the cabin and balcony. We enjoy having extra space, however have happily done 2 weeks in a standard size balcony and enjoyed - so additional space is not essential.

Having only sailed 1 x 2 night and 1 x 4 night on QM2 before, my knowledge is not great and I need some help / opinions on the best options to suit us. I have narrowed it down to the following, but there is a large price difference between each one and I am sure if the benefits warrant the costs for our needs.

    BU - Sheltered Balcony - £6500

    A1 - Britannia Club Balcony - £ 9000

P1 - Princess Grill - £14500 (I can't see the added benefit to spending the additional £2000 to go to queens grill).

    Thanks in Advance!

  5. As we are taking our Harmony cruise as the end of our honeymoon which is a driving tour of Europe in a car with a rather small and awkward shaped luggage space, we have purchased custom luggage (not overly expensive), and I am worried about durability...What is the maximum size that we can carry on.

The luggage in question is about as wide as normal air carry on, not as deep but slightly tall / longer. We will only have two of these bags and shoulder bag so carry them won't be a problem.

    Thanks

    Chris

  6. Just back from the quick 2 nighter, just a couple of observations:

    Room:

Lovely room, and personally I preferred the size to the Penthouse as I felt for just 2 of us we rattled around a bit, but could see how it would be great if cruising as part of a group.

I found the room to be fairly noisy, you could often hear footsteps, jet washing and chair scraping from above. Not deafening, but noticeable. Also the cabin seemed to vibrate continually when at sea, something that, along with the noise I did notice when we stayed in 1616 (PH) the previous year.

William the butler was lovely, and looked after us well (we are not needy guests). Michael's club was nice, and provided a quite place to catch a drink and relax.

Luminae, service and food was fantastic - this is the bit I will miss most from not travelling in Suites.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

  7. While we are on our micro Eclipse cruise in may we were thinking of book my parents on to the same cruise as us in July 17. They want to come, but I am just trying to pick the best time to book for them to get the best deal. Can you book on board and get the perks for a friends or family room? What are the perks these days?

    Thanks

    Chris

  8. Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knew when P&O will release their summer 2017 trips?

We normally sail celebrity, but just rising prices and lack of formal nights, desire to sail from Southampton, as a family we have decided to look into the possibility of P&O, but unlike celebrity it appears 2017 Baltics has not been released yet.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. They're all on the Celebrity UK website - unless it's blocked outside the UK!

    Stuart

Found them - Thank you, think i was checking to early this morning. Nice to see a little variation, a new stop in Denmark - not sure on a double overnight in St. Petersburg, I like overnights but St. Petersburg is a little more difficult to get around...any thoughts?

  10. We currently have 11730 (1 bed aqua suite) booked for our honeymoon next July, but we were originally in an Owners Suite and when the A3 popped up I jumped on it - but I am having second thoughts. I really like the look of the owners suites that I have seen pictures of on Allure / Oasis. But there is very little info on the one bed aqua suites. Size wise they are virtually the same (556sqft vs 606sqft). I like the idea of the Aqua theater location, and the balcony (243sqft vs 626sqft) - but i wonder how much off the decks space is usable due to the design? Will it be overly noisy? I love the idea of being able to people watch and see the ocean, and prime aqua theater seats are also cool...Does anyone know if the aqua theater suites (one bed ones, not two bed) will get the following (like the owners suite and will Harmony get them in the owners suites):

    - Loungers on the balcony

    - Dining table and chairs on balcony

    - Bar / preparation area

    - Jetted / spa tub/bath in bathroom

    - Dining table and chairs in room

Does anyone know if the Aqua theater suite will finished to the same standard as the Owners suites? I really like the quality finish to the Owners suites.

    Thanks in advance...

    Chris

  11. Hi All,

Thanks for your replies. All very helpful, decided to book the room. Interestingly I was told on the phone the square footage was 562 for the too

    And 626 for the balcony.

I must admit I find it odd they changed it from an A4 to an A3, I also find it odd that all the aqua theatre suites don't sit in the same suite benefit group. Although it appears there is little difference in room

Size, the balcony is much larger than OS. I was surprised at how few suites were left for 3rd July sailing. Are a lot of the suites multiple bedrooms, therefore are not available to less than 4/5?

    Chris

  12. Hi All,

We are currently booked in an OS for Harmony in July (it forms part of our honeymoon), we are more than happy with the OS. However it appears an aqua theatre suite has become available. Number 11730. When you do a dummy booking, the RCCL site shows it as A3 (Two bedroom suite), however the deck plans seem to show it as an A4 (1 bedroomed suite). The issue is looking at the Suite benefits for next year, an 2 bed aqua theatre suite would put you in the top level, where as a 1 bed leaves you at the same level as OS. The extra benefits (drinks package) would be worth the extra cost. But I cant seem to figure out if it is 2 bed or 1 bed suite.

    Hope you can Help!!

  13. We were on the same cruise and had a great time! Out of interest how much was the access tour? we saw it advertised but with no price...

Bizarrely we really enjoyed the late arrival into the Faroe Islands as we were up early for our expected arrival, it gave us a stunning back drop to eat breakfast with.

I am reasonably sensitive to movement, and found it irritating at times and I did occasionally struggle to sleep, but I am a very light sleeper. I would thoroughly recommend going.

  14. Thanks for all the advice, for the moment I have taken the plunge and booked the penthouse - I want this to be a very special surprise, a moment of madness if you like that one will not be able to justify to repeat. We also get a chauffeur car to and from Southampton which should be nice and further add to surprise and specialness - it will be a shame it is only two nights...but should be awesome experience, now just to make the most of it!

  15. Hmmm.. after looking at the roll call, there is some suggestions that there will be no formal night on this cruise, for me this makes the pull of the suite greater, as we enjoy formal night and would struggle between being lazy in the suite or heading out to the Martini bar and then Dinner...

Just looked again at the PH suite, that bathroom is amazing! Does make it tempting, when you see the online videos you get more of an impression for the size...although the RS would provide more than enough space!

  16. I don't expect to get a free upgrade from SS to RS, I am willing to pay for it - but i am guessing that at a certain point all the rooms will disappear so celebrity can make all the GTY assignments (although my GTY has already been assigned). But I am guessing that this will occur around final payment. The cruise is the beginning of May, and there are currently 5 RS left to sell, i am concerned they may sell or price may go up. But if change to RS, it may not be possible to change back to SS.

    Does that make sense?

  17. If I am honest, i wouldn't expect drinks brought to the room to be included in any packages...the royal suite is starting to sound good...

I could wait to see if prices fall, i would be surprised to see them increase. How long before they take all the suites off sale and start to allocate to GTY? i don't want to decide to go for it and then miss out!

  18. Thanks HickoryShampoo - that was just the info i was after, the royal suite in the med must have been amazing!

I would plan on spending a lot of time in the room if we were to opt for the RS, but less so if we went for the SS (simply because there would be perhaps less features to 'enjoy'), we are back on the ship in June and have been before so the trip is not really about the ship or destination.

Does anyone know if we would get the bottles of spirits, as it is such a short cruise (lot of booze for 2 people in 2 days), if we did could we swop them? Maybe for bottles of wine for the in suite dining or Gin (we like gin and tonics)...

  19. A guess what I am trying to say...is it worth it? Currently have a sky suite booked (not a great location as it was a gty), so i will get access to the new restaurant (one of the main draws for me). The difference is £1000 (so will comfortable cover any drinks that might be included in the royal suite). I want this to be a special surprise for my fiancee, but at the same time there is not point paying over the odds, if we wont get the service / experience.

    tough choices
