  1. We are thinking of taking a segment from the UK ending in Auckland next year. The trip includes a flight back but Mr CC feels that he cannot do the whole flight at once and whilst we have never been to that part of the world, it would be lovely to go onto Australia and maybe fly home in stages.

Maybe after disembarking staying in NZ for a week then Auckland - Sydney stay a week, then maybe Sydney to Dubai stay 3 days and then Dubai -UK.

I know that you can opt to book flights or not but we would want the first leg to the US from the UK byair

Would Cunard allow you to book the flights with stopovers or would we have to do it ourselves?

Is it financially viable to let them do it or should we try ourselves - the fly/cruises always seem really good value!

  2. Just returned from a trans-Atlantic crossing on QM2 and made a video. I interviewed Captain Chris Wells and he gave a great explanation of the difference between an Ocean Liner and a Cruise Ship. You'll also hear a comparison of the Queen Mary 2's whistles and the original Queen Mary's whistles -

I'd love to hear what people think of this video!

I enjoyed the video and Captain Wells explanation - it was very clear.

Although I have travelled on the QM2 many times, I have not done a transatlantic - I have been very tempted by the QE crossing to Florida in Jan 2013 but after Captain Wells explained the difference between the ships I think I will only do it on the QM2 now...

  3. When we were in SPB we took 2 Cunard Ship tours - One was a trip around all the sights which was very good but we also took one which gave us an opportunity to ride on the underground trains. It was really great and we stopped at a cafe and had a local tea and cakes (3 each!!) we visited a church and an indoor market then back on the underground train - it was one of the best tours I have ever done!!
