  1. NCL Breakaway 14nt 1/17 NYC RT $1299 fare

I've been watching this cruise for a while and the solo prices finally went down a bit yesterday so I just pulled the trigger. One of the big TAs (5 letters in the name) is doing $100 + $75 OBC bonuses, in addition to one Freestyle Choice, making the net price pretty good nowadays. The $196.56 tax/fee is unfortunately a bit pricey being out of Manhattan. GUAR balconies are pretty reasonable too at $1799, with $150 extra OBC from that TA. But I chose the studio to have guaranteed lounge access and avoid the GUAR lottery. I just hope the weather cooperates and my bus from Boston doesn't get canceled.

  2. Just wanted to let people know I just booked a 13 night RCCL-Brilliance of the Seas repositioning cruise for $1200.00 for an inside quarantee and I will get a $90.00 on board credit. This is for Oct.27,2013. I booked with travel agency with More in it's title. Kendra

Kendra, if you're a past guest, don't forget to use your Crown & Anchor savings certificate to save another $115 (off the actual price, not more OBC). I'm on this same cruise solo (posted here last week) and had no problem using the certificate plus getting another $100 OBC from a travel agency. Hope this helps.

By the way, when I looked on RCI's website, my cabin was assigned immediately--no upgrade unfortunately. Maybe you'll have better luck. Not sure if RCI ever upgrades GUAR bookings after assigning a room. I'm just glad to be on the cruise for a good price and 32% supplement. See you on board!

  3. I just booked an Inside GTY with only a 24% supplement (double occ is currently $849). Plus there is a $115 Inside or $225 Outside Crown & Anchor savings certificate, which will hopefully get added on top of the $100 OBC deal I found at a major online TA. Taxes/fees are only another $77. Nice ship and itinerary (5 ports)--I did a very similar cruise on the Jewel (sister ship) 3 years ago, and for more money. A 13 nt cruise for under $1K (assuming the 2 OBC deals come through) seemed too good for me to pass up, especially since I'm from the Boston area and am saving 1 flight.

When I just rechecked the same TA website, the Inside GTY is gone but OV GTY is still available, though that happened before and the Inside GTY came back, so maybe it will again. OV is still a great deal, especially with the $225 certificate. But if this is any indication of availability, you should act fast. Good luck!

  4. I just booked the RCI Jewel of the Seas 10/30/10 13 nt repo from Boston to Fort Lauderdale solo. During RCI's labor day sale, double occupancy for Inside (Cat M or N) is $799 & single is $1219, $1321 after taxes & fees. So 153% single supplement, which isn't too bad considering the cruise is pretty cheap to begin with. The travel agent I used also gave $100 onboard credit. Seemed like a good deal to me if you're looking for a longer cruise with a nice itinerary. I also thought having the rock wall, mini golf, pool tables, etc. would be good for the 6 days at sea.

I was thinking about the Norwegian Dawn 10/10 12 nt repo from NY to MIA, since even with the 200% supplement, it was still very cheap ($1054 for Inside after fees), but the forums about "Freestyle cruising" solo turned me off of it, not to mention the fact that the Dawn is having engine problems. It also sounded like the quality of food in the main dining room wasn't as good, and I don't want to spend extra every night in the specialty restaurants. Since I've never been on NCL (just Carnival, RCI, & Celebrity), I didn't want to take any chances on such a long cruise.
