  1. I called captains club this morning to price classic drink package and zero proof drink package.  I am a select loyalty tier and a 10% discount was available to me, however currently my cruise is offering a 50% off classic and premium drink package pre cruise purchase, and was told that the discounts can’t be combined, therefore no advantage to being a captain’s club member in this case. The zero proof package is currently 10% for my cruise, so again no benefit to loyalty tier in this case.  I find it confusing and another reason I will not chase loyalty points.

  2. Can anyone tell me what, if anything, is included in a full or split cabana rental on the edge?  I have seen older posts that show drinks (water, beer, food menus) but noted that when I look at description in my cruise planner it states that those items (food, drinks) are not included.

  3. After watching NCL stumble through their new promotional pricing the last few days I see that my sailing has reverted back to the price I started with on the Friday before the promo. The automatic 50% off 3 rd person is $599 and option for beverage package is available to choose for my mini suite. At least they seem to have corrected 3 rd plus passengers paying the same or more than first two

  4. You said, "In my opinion I am getting a deal, but not a 50% off deal." can you clarify by explaining how you maintain that the deal was not 50% off?

Certainly, If a price is inflated, as it was in this case, so that NCL can run a 50% off promo which results in a less than what was 50% off savings. It should be called an "up to 50%" off. While I did get 50% off the newly inflated price, It was far short of 50% off the pre non inflated price. I believe that NCL is resorting to less than transparent sales practices and while that may generate some excitement in the short run, it will create negative backlash by consumers ultimately. If I waited for an hour or more on hold today in order to take advantage of this promo I'd be livid.

  5. The 3rd passenger rate is calculated as 50% off of TODAY's rate for the 3rd passenger. Your misunderstanding is probably because you are using yesterday's pricing.

I agree. It is my error, however I would take this opportunity to express my distaste for these types of promotions. More transparency would be appreciated. In my opinion I am getting a deal, but not a 50% off deal.

  6. Yesterday the price of my mini suite was 1419 pp for 1st and 2 nd passenger and $599 for third passenger plus we had the beverage package. Looking online now price on 1 and 2 are the same (1419 pp), but 3rd now shows at $499.50. This sailing qualifys for 50% off. How is 50% off calculated? Obviously either the rate has risen dramatically or it's not 50% off. I still benefit by rebooking but only by $100 and not $300 as I calculated. Anyone else notice that what they calculated as 50 % off is not what shows up when you try and book?

  7. I have had no luck on NCLs website with booking a garden villa on the dawn for summer 2015. I realize that there are only two, but can they possibly be booked every sailing for three months? Could be a website glitch, but thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had any insight. Do you think they are really sold out, or is something else going on?

  8. i always book my cruises directly with NCL. This time, as we are traveling with a Number of family members, I booked with my sisters TA. I booked with her several months ago, and I had her rebook me during the last 10% obc promotion just a couple weeks ago. Now I noticed the price of my balcony cabin has dropped again and qualifies for new 10% obc promo. She has been rather cold with my latest request to rebook. I can save an additional $80 by rebooking again, but wonder if that is considered bad form when using a TA.

    Any thoughts?

  9. Can you please come back and tell us about your wedding. My partner and I are NCL cheerleaders and would love to hear about your experience.

I will definitely post details after the wedding, but it will be a long wait as the date is set for August, 2015. Nothing like planning ahead! Probably shows that this is the first of my children to marry.

  10. And can you feel us dummies in on what it takes to qualify as a group in order to get the points?

My daughter is getting married on board the Dawn. We went to our TA and she booked us as a group. Not sure how many cabins you need to qualify as a group, but we started with three and should end up with 12-15 total. I know you can call the group department at NCL as well. No dummies here :) only the curious. no way I would have known about it without these boards.

  11. What are all the options you were given?

There are various options which "cost" various amounts of points. If you search for amenity point menu I think you will find a post that included a detailed listing. Some of the options are for on board credit, bottle of wine, dinner in specialty restaurant. We have a total of 3 points to use and I was thinking of a cocktail party for one point and Italian restaurant for 2 points.

  12. one of our options to use our groups amenity points is a one hour private cocktail party with dry snacks. Has anyone done this that can share details like:

    Where was party held?

    What was offered for drinks?

    What was offered for snacks?

Did you have any say in when or where party was held?

Would you do it again or pick something else?

    Thanks.

  13. we are planning a wedding on board while docked in Bermuda. Would love to get pictures at the beach of the couple after ceremony and reception. Does anyone know if we can arrange for a photographer to hop in a cab with couple and take some shots at one of the south shore beaches or should we try and line up a photographer in Bermuda?

  14. We have the Garden Villa on the Dawn next week.

The cruise is to celebrate my Parent's 50th Anniversary and my Aunt and Uncle's 45th and my other Aunt and Uncle's 40th.

They just wanted a simple vow renewal ceremony.

We looked into trying to get the Captain or other officer to perform a simple vow renewal, which NCL said (after alot of back and forth through NCL corporate offices) they could not do. (It actually got sent all the way up through a VP, to try to get it done)

Had to be done as a package, through a secondary company for $600 per couple.

Most of the items in the package, were already part of the perks of the Garden Villa. (except photographer, photo package, officiant and a certificate. Wow)

So we decided to just have a ceremony and party in the Garden Villa and I went online to get ordained to officiate. (that was a hilarious 5 minutes after dinner)

Just 3 couples who have been together for 135 years, who don't need a stranger, come in and read some vows for 10 minutes and fleece them for $1,800, (actually $1,500 since NCL offered $100 off if all 3 couples booked it.) after already spending thousands on the Garden Villa.

Hopefully your day in the Garden Villa goes well.

It should definitely be a memorable venue, no matter what your group decides to do.

    Enjoy..

I would love to hear the details when you get back. NCL gets $2695 for very basic wedding package. Considered having the couple get legally married at home and doing the same thing, but the couple wants their wedding day to be their "real" wedding and have their heart set on a Bermuda wedding. I would imagine it would be difficult if not impossible to get an officiant on board in Bermuda without going through NCLs wedding company. Otherwise I'd go that route.
