  1. My daughter and her husband are looking at a weeks cruise in large balcony cabin and a weeks stay in Mallorca at the end of June next year. She has been quoted £1,800.00 each. We normally just cruise for a week, would you say this is a good price or not?

  2. Thanks for your advice pensioncruiser. I had bad seasickness last year (first time ever) although we have cruised for years. Wondering if it was a one off or maybe should think of lower deck. We have choice of 7, 9 or 10. Have heard it's better midship also. Other half prefers as high up as possible mind you so will have good talk about it. Thanks again for your help.

  3. We have booked Discovery for the 19th August. Our TA managed to get us on the BA flight from Glasgow leaving at 0630. I am a bit funny about flying and she knows I prefer to travel on an airline I am familiar with (stupid I know). The original scheduled flight did not leave Glasgow till the afternoon which would have meant loosing a good part of the day, same problem with the return flight leaving later in the day which meant hanging about the ship. Extra luggage was also a factor in travelling with BA.

  4. Going on Discovery 2nd July this year. Has anyone tried the wine tasting excursion on Elba? I am not good on a coach if the road is steep, just wondered if anyone had experience of the journey. Have done most of the ports before so plan to just wander ashore for an hour or so every day and just enjoy the boat. Will probably do one excursion though, just to break the week up. My travel agent in onboard at the beginning of June, so cant wait to hear her review.

  5. Hi

We called at Venice in September on the Majesty. We booked the motor launch transport from the ship then did our own thing in Venice. It is very easy to get around (although crowds were awful) and as there were four of us it worked out much cheaper to book the gondola trip ourselves. Watch out for prices around the main square, my other half nearly had a coronary at the prices for a pint of beer! Found a lovely little bar a few streets back which served delicious Bellini cocktails for us girls.

  6. Thanks for that Dronnygirl. We were going to book the ships transport in and out of Venice because we had heard that the queues could be bad using the public transport. The Thomson trip uses a privately booked motor launch. Think we will wait to book a gondola when we get to Venice. Great advice regarding restaurants and bars, will definately try going off the beaten track. Although we girls must have our bellinis in Harry's bar!

  7. We are off on the Majesty on the 11th September. There are six in the party and I was wondering if anyone could give me information on the cost of a gondola trip. Thomson are offering a gondola trip then free time in Venice for £49.00. I was toying with booking the transport in and out which costs £25.00 per person, then booking a gondola trip separately. I am also not sure if the Thomson gondola trip would last as long as the privately booked one. Any insights greatly appreciated.

  8. Will be in Venice on 14th September. Planning to take the ships transport to and from which lets us spend the whole day sightseeing and taking in the atmosphere. Three couples in our party and can't wait to sing the cornetto song on a gondola (cheesy I know).

  9. Just printed out my e ticket for our September cruise on the Majesty. She is the one Thomson ship we haven't sailed on so really looking forward to exploring when we get onboard. Travelling with another two couples so expect to need another holiday when we get back! We have good early morning flights so get into Corfu at lunch time. Could anyone let me know how far to Corfu town from the harbour? Toying with buying my lotions and potions out there to save weight in the cases.

  10. Loved Santorini. We stayed in Ikes Houses on the edge of Oia. There is a wine yard within walking distance where you can sample the wine and have a light lunch. Loved walking down to the harbour for dinner but glad of a taxi back up. I am sure you will have a fabulous holiday and will leave a little piece of your heart there.

  11. Our week on the Discovery next year works out cheaper than previous weeks on Dream. Dont know if its because there are more balcony cabins on Discovery making prices more competitive. I like booking with my local TA as I can pop into the shop and ask about various bits and bobs. She always matches online prices without any extra charge. I used to always book our cruises through my RBS account as they could always beat the price by a couple of hundred pounds, but for some reason they have been unable to do so for the last couple of years.

  12. Hi Kruzeeka

Fabulous information, have printed it out to study. We are quite confident of venturing out on our own so will definately plan a trip around your suggestions. Not till next year mind you so plenty time to mull it over. We are off to Ibiza for a week in July but are cruising with friends on the Majesty in September. The weather here has been lovely and I am definately getting the holiday spirit.

  13. We were on the Celebration the year before last sailing from Newcastle to the fjords. Had a fabulous cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would love to do the carribean but hate flying! Have done long haul in the past but find as I get older the anxiety gets worse. I'm sure you will have a great cruise and meet some fun people.
