  1. Was on the Escape 2/20-27. Spice H20 is good if it is not to windy. The 80s party and White party were well attended. Skyline can be a great substitute for a night club like Bliss on other NCL ships. Also depends on the DJ. There is one DJ who does an awesome job of giving different types of music. The other DJ tends to lean more towards the Hip Hop type of music. This is my main complaint with most cruise lines. They tend to play what they want to hear and not toward the crowd. I think this is why the 80s party was such a hit.

  2. That is disappointing! :(

There have always been kids in the Haven when we have sailed - but fortunately they have been well behaved.

A bigger problem - for us on the Escape 2.20.16 - was adults bringing the non-Haven "friends" to hang out on the Haven sundeck. On a sea day - folks from the Haven could not get seats outside because a bunch were occupied by those from outside the Haven.

A bar server even told them that they could not be in the Haven without permission from the concierge when they presented their cards to get drinks. Told them they would have to leave. They said "we are here with our friends" and the server brought them their drinks anyway!   They were quite loud and boisterous about enjoying the area and this is the way to do it - while keeping those who paid for it from being able to enjoy it.

    VERY frustrating!

I was on the 2/20-27 sailing on the Escape. That explains the crowded sun Deck of having friends outside the Haven. We had a group of 28 on the ship and we didn't bring them up to the sun deck (we did bring 1 or 2 to the restaurant but that didn't effect anyone else in the Haven). I also thought the kids in the Haven pool were a little annoying. I thought it would be more of an adults type situation. For the amount of money we spent on a suite, I shouldn't have to spend more on Vide to get to relax by and use a pool and not have a bunch of kids. I know it is promoted for families...so it is what it is. We are going on the Getaway next year, but I am not going to spend that kind of money for a Haven suite when I can go out to the main deck and deal with children just as easy and cheaper.

  3. Our group is mainly gay with a few straight people here and there. My mom and aunt will be on the trip and we have a few others that will go too. We have a fun group, this will be about our 9th cruise as a big group. We leave next Sunday on the NCL Epic on our Med Cruise that we are doing this year. We have 22 people going on that cruise.

  4. Hello,

Seeing if anyone else is traveling this cruise. Our group that we call We Care Cruises is traveling with a group of 23. Majority of us are from Columbus Ohio with a few friends from Kentucky. Hope to meet others because it is fun to get to know new people.

  5. Paul,

Myself and 2 friends did the Trip from Southampton to New York back in November 2012. There was an FOD gathering every evening in the Commadore Club. They have it marked very well with Signage. We had a nice time every evening. I even have made a friend with a guy from the UK who I pretty much Facebook with almost everyday. He and his current BF are even flying over to Barcelona May 21 to visit us when we are there to leave on our cruise on the NCL Epic. My UK friend cruises Cunard regularly and has always said the FOD's are nice. Hope you have a great trip.

  6. Hillardman....it would have been nice to meet new people...that is my favorite part of cruises. We have met some great people over the years. I believe this is our 6th group cruise. We normally plan our next cruise right after we get back. As of right now, we are looking at possibly doing a Mediterranean Cruise in the fall of 2015. Pop me an email at camchris@aol.com and I can refer you to our Facebook Group. Look forward to hearing from you.

  7. I will be going on my 7th cruise this coming February on the Carnival Liberty. I have never been on a gay cruise. I might choose to in the future but at this time its technically about price in a different way. Here in Columbus Ohio we have for the last 6 years have put together a cruise (yes on a straight cruise) as a fundraiser for a cause or organization. For 4 years the proceeds went to our local "Project Open Hands" organization. These last 3 years we have done the fundraising for my organization that I am a part of: COMIC (Columbus Ohio Midwest Invitational Classic). We throw a bowling tournament every April. In the process of this tournament we donate to our local charities.

I have to say all of our cruises have had anywhere from 6 people (granted we didnt' get to donate that year) to our 64 people that went last year. I can say we truly had a great time.

Our 1st year was on Voyager of the Seas. We all went to the show and they were doing Divas music. Well I didn't realize but when I looked around all 46 of us sat together pretty much. The last number was Cher's Believe and we all were into the song and you saw the look on the "gay" dancers see the whole group. We ended up spending every evening with them in the nightclub most of the time. At that time RCL had not been doing LGBT meetings. Luckily one of the female dancers was dating the Cruise Director and they put together one for us. The highlight was the lead singer from the shows came and she sang "Over the Rainbow" for us.

We have done 3 Princess Cruises that were very gay friendly. I also like the fact that they send a representative to the gatherings. The last 2 plus our upcoming cruise have been on Carnival where we again have found very gay friendly. This past year we took over the nightclub and the 2nd to the last night we would applaud everyone that would walk in through the revolving door. The officers of the ship were there that night and they were applauding with us before the night was over.

Yes, we have been doing these straight cruises because of the price because we get more people to go and the more we have go, the more we get to donate.

From my opinion, a straight cruise can be as gay as you want it to be.
