I was on the Feb 2.  By any chance they'd let me keep my cabin and price of I rebook the 31st?

If your cabin is still available, than yes.  I was on the 2/2 cruise too and spoke to my TA last night.  You can book one of the following cruises and keep your price and amenities and get an extra $200 OBC per cabin ($400 if you were in a suite).

Guests currently booked on the 12-Night Southern Caribbean sailing departing February 2, 2020 who are interested in similar itineraries can be rebooked on these similar sailings, in like accommodations, at the protected/lowest available rate:

    Celebrity Silhouette®:
12-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise departing December 1, 2019
14-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise departing January 31, 2020
12-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise departing February 23, 2020

  2. After reading these posts I decided to purchase the Olympus TG-5 since the TG-4 has been discontinued. I'm curious if anyone has used the TG-5 yet and if there is any concern about the drop from 16MP to 12MP to gain better low-light capabilities? If not, I'll have a chance to try it out next week in Bermuda.

I ended up getting the TG-5 and totally forgot about the drop to 12 MP until you just mentioned it. So far, I'm happy with my purchase. Have fun in Bermuda, I was there last month and loved it so much that I already have plans on returning next year.

  3. My selfies consist of turning it around, pointing at myself and snapping the picture...then check the screen to make sure it's all good (and usually is). :p Sorry, the TG 4 does not have a flip screen. I'm not sure about the 5, but if you have looked at the manuals online and if it doesn't mention it, I would assume it doesn't either. :)

Thanks for your response. I guess I'll get used to turning it around and taking the picture blindly. My poor husband just might not be too thrilled with my learning curve. :D

  4. I absolutely love Olympus Touch cameras. I would agree with others on the TG4. (I have 2 of the Tough 620's, 1 of the 830 and the TG4). They take amazing pictures both above and below the water. (I do all of my reviews with these cameras and most people rave about the awesome pictures). :)

I do have to say that the actual macro function of the TG4 is AMAZING! Nothing like the "fake" macro function on my 620 or 830...which to me isn't a true macro IMO.

If you want to check out any of my other pictures, look at some of my reviews in my signature line. They were basically all taken with the Olympus.

For the TG 4, look at my Epic review. That entire cruise was done with the TG4...including the snorkeling and scuba pictures. :)

I've been using the older Olympus TG-860 that has the flip LCD screen and really like it. I'm thinking about getting the newer Olympus model but notice that it doesn't have the flip screen anymore. Are you still able to take selfies with the TG 4 (or 5)? I looked at their online manual, but wasn't able to figure out how, or if, it was possible.

    Thanks!

  5. We did the tour last week and it is still as good as in the past--we're repeat Capt. Bob'ers! We ended up going to Frenchies for lunch instead off the usual spot next door. The ribs weren't as good, but the fish and vegetarian dishes were better at Frenchies. We also had a lot of wind and missed Pinel and Tintamare, but made an extra stop at a beach on the French side as well as passing by an area that had giant iguanas on rocks. We would repeat this tour again in a heartbeat.

  6. We almost always do B2B or B2B2B cruises, and have never checked in on-line for the next leg. We have never had to present a XPass for the next leg. When the disembarkation questionnaire is distributed there is a box to check indicating that you will be continuing on the ship.

Thanks for the info! This is my first B2B so I wasn't quite sure how it worked.

  7. I checked in online for the first leg of my b2b and ran into some computer issues. I called X and they cleared things up on their end. I asked the rep if I needed to check in for the second leg online and she said no, that they would find me on my first leg and contact me. I'm now second guessing their answer and think I should check in online for the second leg. Does anyone know?

  8. We would order them every morning (at Blu) and discovered that there are at least two kinds of bran muffins they serve. Most of the time they had the type that had a few white oats on the top---those were the best! Sometimes they had the type that had the little bran twigs on top---those were pretty dry and not worth eating more than a bite or two from the top. Hopefully on your cruise you'll find the oat ones!

  9. For those who have toured with Captain Bob, did you have or see any infants on your tours? We have a wide range of ages in our group and would love to know if this is something that all would enjoy. Thank you in advance for your help.

I've done the Captain Bob tour twice and the youngest child that I saw was probably around 7 or 8. I would not recommend this tour if you had an infant since the boat goes pretty fast, it can be bumpy and you could get splashed. You may want to check with Capt Bob since he may have a minimum age requirement.

  10. We did this tour last year with Capt. Bob and loved it so much we booked it again and went on it last week. While we didn't have Capt. Bob this time, we really enjoyed our day with Ty. We preferred this year's day a little better since the new restaurant served better food (IMHO) and we enjoyed the beautiful beach it was located on (I think Case beach). We were lucky enough to have dolphins just 15 feet away from our boat at the rock. We didn't see any of the really big planes take off or land but did see a few smaller ones land. And the "surprise" wasn't there this year due to a big barracuda that was in the area. We got back to the dock at 4:02 and Ty even retrieved my husband's sunglasses that he dropped in the water. We were back on the ship by 4:20. I wouldn't worry about not having Capt. Bob in your boat (we did see him a few times during the day though) and also don't fret about getting back to your ship. One customer missing their sail away would most likely put Capt. Bob out of business--and he knows this. I have a strong feeling that I'll be seeing Capt. Bob again next year too.

  11. Hello,

I am new to cruising and looking to book an excursion with Capt. Bob after reading all the wonderful reviews.

However, DH and I are worry about being able to make it back on time to the ship for the all-aboard.

We will be in port from 8AM to 5PM with Oasis of the Seas. If we are back at the dock at 4PM and factoring the walk time back to the ship (20-30min), are we cutting it to short?

With RCI, how soon should we get back to the ship? 30min or 60min before departure?

    Thanks

We were on the Celebrity Equinox last month, parent company is RCI, and we had to be back on the ship by 4:45 for a 5 pm departure. I would imagine it to be similar with the Oasis.

If you are in average shape and don't have problems with walking, you should easily be able to walk back in less than 20 minutes. As a new cruiser I can understand how you would have concerns about missing the ship. I wouldn't worry about it for this tour, Captain Bob won't let you miss the boat.

Enjoy planning for your first cruise. It probably won't be your last!

  12. This sounds like it might be exactly what we are looking for.

    What is the approximate cost?

Do you have the option to get off at Maho or do you stay on the boat?

It was $99 pp and we paid 20% when we made our reservations. We stayed on the boat at Maho. It is such a full day and I don't think there would of been time to get off and make it back to the pier by 4.

  13. We really enjoyed our day with Captain Bob last month....the man was a riot and really did his best to make sure everyone had a great day.

He's got plenty of beer (Coors Light and Heineken), Soda (Coke and Diet Coke) and water. You can get mixed drinks on Pinel Island which is the lunch stop. Capt Bob doesn't want you to take the beer from the boat to the restaurant.

He had a table at the restaurant reserved for the group and he also took on the role of waiter. Save some of your leafy greens if you want to feed the iguanas after lunch.

The snorkeling was OK, but still enjoyable. St. Martin isn't really known for their snorkeling anyway. Pinel Island was such a treat, a little secluded bit of paradise. We made a stop to see the airplanes but the boat decided to head off to try to beat a rain cloud that was threatening us. I really enjoyed the stop to swim with the fish. And don't worry, they don't hurt. Great photo opportunity!

We hope Captain Bob is doing this tour again next year since we already have another cruise booked and can't think of a better way to spend our day in St. Martin.

  14. Great question and great responses...I never would of thought about wearing dark colors. How were the bugs? I've got what my husband calls "sweet meat" and if there are bugs, I'll be the first one they feast on. I have spray I can bring, but I don't want to use it if I don't have to--thinking of fellow van passengers. Thanks!
