  1. We have had to reschedule our cruise due to a family bereavement. We should have done a trip around the Canary's next week but now we go in September to America. Will we still collect cases from the terminal to the coach and how long is the transport from airport to ship? Apart from that will anything else be different in the getting to the ship process. We have only ever done the Med, Canary's before.

  2. Hope it all goes well and you both enjoy your cruise.

When you return, let us all know how it went.

We have just returned from the cruise and had a fabulous time. Himself managed really well. He had his post op check Friday and we set sail the next day. He did not use his stick at all even though we had to return home to collect it after half an hour drive. He walked better than he has for years and apart from the odd ache after a long day was pain free. Really pleased he had it done before our holiday.

  3. Blandys Wine Lodge is well worth a visit. They do a guided tour around it but if you want a English speaking tour it would be worth going first thing and pre booking your place. We have been to Madera twice and found that with the cable car and the sledge plus

Blandys Wine Lodge the day was nicely filled. On our second visit we enjoyed the Hop on hop off bus and had a very enjoyable tour. We had time to stop of and look around different places on the island. We were transferred onto a mini bus to take us to the viewing platform

    Cabo Gira

to. Even if you decide to stay near the sea it is a lovely destination.

  4. They often put a play on in the afternoon and one of the entertainment team might have a solo spot. Time for them to shine on their own. They will on one day have a fashion show, not to be taken seriously and in another area you will most likely find a dance class. If it is a cool day the team alter and lots more done inside. On the smaller ships seating may be harder to find but not impossible. If you are not flying and restricted by weight you might want to consider taking a board game or download in advance a film or two to watch on a tablet. I enjoy finding a spot to read and will take my kindle. Enjoy your holiday.

  5. I have always had a cabin case as hand luggage also a handbag. Just once I was told to put my handbag in the case but as soon as we passed check in I took it out again as I keep my passport and boarding card in it. My OCD couldn't cope with doing something different. Also had a carrier bag as I bought things in the shops.

  6. We arrived late one time. It was the fastest check in ever and we were taken straight to the theatre were we had our muster drill. It is no longer necessary to take your life jacket with you. The ship will not sail until you have done that. Then we went in search of food. Our cases were waiting for us when we later found our cabin.

  7. Can anyone tell me how much it cost to park at the port of Tyne?

We have booked the night before at the Premiere Inn and after reading here I phoned them and they allow you to park your car for the duration of your cruise and they ask for a donation to Great Ormand Street. Your donation is at your discretion. Himself is happy with that but I have concerns over security of the car. No doubt by June he will have talked me round.
