That will be great for families.

I would like to book and pay for the specialty restaurants in advance. Himself is a pain in the rearend complaining about the additional cost. I love the atmosphere and willingly pay the extra. We haven't done the Dining Club and will try it next time.

We have had to reschedule our cruise due to a family bereavement. We should have done a trip around the Canary's next week but now we go in September to America. Will we still collect cases from the terminal to the coach and how long is the transport from airport to ship? Apart from that will anything else be different in the getting to the ship process. We have only ever done the Med, Canary's before.

Hope it all goes well and you both enjoy your cruise.
When you return, let us all know how it went.
We have just returned from the cruise and had a fabulous time. Himself managed really well. He had his post op check Friday and we set sail the next day. He did not use his stick at all even though we had to return home to collect it after half an hour drive. He walked better than he has for years and apart from the odd ache after a long day was pain free. Really pleased he had it done before our holiday.

After watching the football last night I am wandering if I need midge repellent?
-
you can still get drinks but will be charged.
I can not imagine many do that. Sleep is required at some point.
-
We are also at the Premier Inn the night before. We have been advised that if we get to the ship around 11.30 we would be before the coaches.
-
Thank you for your advice. I have had a quick look and hiring a chair looks simple enough. Because his walking has been so painful for a while we had already booked the comfort tour at S.P.B. I will inform the insurance after his operation tomorrow. He may possibly be in a much better place by then than he is now.

So the holiday has been planned for months and last week Himself got a call to say his Hip Replacement operation has been brought forward to next week. Has anyone had an operation this close to their holiday? The hospital has said he will be fine as we are not flying.

We booked a late cabin between the group and we kept hand luggage there for the day. We had a great time in Corfu and left the ship really late at about 7.30 p.m. We enjoyed a early tea with wine and slept all the way home.

They suggest 5% for the driver and 10% for the guide. Have you told them you are a member on here cuz you get discount of the cost of the trip.
Yes I did that at the time of booking. I am really looking forward to it.

Hi we have booked Alla for their 2 day must see tour in SPB, can I ask what currency you used for tips for the staff pls.
I was going to take Russian money to tip with but unsure how much that should be. We are not overly wealthy, the two day trip to S.P.B is a substantial extra added to the cruise. I have saved for that but do not want to be mean when it comes to the tips.

Hi Sam. The roll call is still under the TUI name. I struggled to find it but I few people have added to the original post.
TUI Discovery, sailing June 23, 2018.

It is good that they are thinking that some people want to have a different holiday. I have never been disturbed by children on a cruise but son 2 who is a teacher did say he would enjoy a chilled out week without children.

Blandys Wine Lodge is well worth a visit. They do a guided tour around it but if you want a English speaking tour it would be worth going first thing and pre booking your place. We have been to Madera twice and found that with the cable car and the sledge plus
Blandys Wine Lodge the day was nicely filled. On our second visit we enjoyed the Hop on hop off bus and had a very enjoyable tour. We had time to stop of and look around different places on the island. We were transferred onto a mini bus to take us to the viewing platform
Cabo Gira
to. Even if you decide to stay near the sea it is a lovely destination.

They often put a play on in the afternoon and one of the entertainment team might have a solo spot. Time for them to shine on their own. They will on one day have a fashion show, not to be taken seriously and in another area you will most likely find a dance class. If it is a cool day the team alter and lots more done inside. On the smaller ships seating may be harder to find but not impossible. If you are not flying and restricted by weight you might want to consider taking a board game or download in advance a film or two to watch on a tablet. I enjoy finding a spot to read and will take my kindle. Enjoy your holiday.

I will take two formal dresses as weight is unlimited this time as sailing from Newcastle. I hope we have two formal nights also I hope we have two crew show nights as I have always enjoyed them.

I have always had a cabin case as hand luggage also a handbag. Just once I was told to put my handbag in the case but as soon as we passed check in I took it out again as I keep my passport and boarding card in it. My OCD couldn't cope with doing something different. Also had a carrier bag as I bought things in the shops.

I found it odd that they had no Green Tea on it's own. It all comes with added flavours.

We were looking to book the Fire and Ice cruise next year but I found the program a little disappointing. I realise that route was not the same but the scenery looked similar at each stop she made and it also looked freezing all the time. She gave no indication of the time of year that the filming took place.

We arrived late one time. It was the fastest check in ever and we were taken straight to the theatre were we had our muster drill. It is no longer necessary to take your life jacket with you. The ship will not sail until you have done that. Then we went in search of food. Our cases were waiting for us when we later found our cabin.

Mine was great but my sisters was hardly worth using so she kept borrowing mine. If you have thick hair it might be worth taking your own.

Can anyone tell me how much it cost to park at the port of Tyne?
We have booked the night before at the Premiere Inn and after reading here I phoned them and they allow you to park your car for the duration of your cruise and they ask for a donation to Great Ormand Street. Your donation is at your discretion. Himself is happy with that but I have concerns over security of the car. No doubt by June he will have talked me round.

Have a good holiday and we will look forward to your review. We had a great time on the Discovery last year. Like with most things in life some of the new changes did not appeal to everyone but we found a lot to like.

I have struggled to book in today for our trip on Sunday. I phoned TUI, I have called into the travel agents, and no one has been able to help. The travel agent said just turn up at the airport. Because of this we cannot book our seat on the plain. Any Ideas?
