  1. Unrelated to a back to back, when I did the TA we rented a one way rental to the port and droped it off there. When we returned to Orlando, we rented again a one way rental to our home. We happen to live in Central Florida, about an hour from Orlando.

Thanks for the info! Do you happen to remember the rental car company.

    (we live in the villages)

  2. In my opinion the tip fee was the bare minimum to tip. Sure, I think most of us know we can remove them, but it should be utilized only for bad service, not because I can't afford to take my family of X. If you want to reward someone special then you pay beyond the suggested amount, not stiff the other staff.

I know if I worked my azz off in the back ground and my pay was dependent on tips, it would not make me feel better that your family of 5 had a good time.

    Just saying.

  3. at 19, they are an adult.( mostly). if they are that afraid of mommy and daddy finding out they smoke, they deserve a lecture on acting like an adult

So, I guess I can assume there is nothing you would like to stop doing, but haven't.

  4. Other than providing a small price difference if you are purchasing a stateroom out of a block of booked staterooms that the TA has, they cannot discount the RCI stateroom at all. And in that situation you would be limited in stateroom selection to those included in their block of reserved staterooms. That is the case, BTW, with most mast market cruise lines - the base stateroom rate is the same at any given time directly through the cruise line or a TA. Any "discounts" are coming from blocked room pricing or directly out of their commissions.

Completely disagree. I've always received a discount thru a TA (plus OBC). Some discounts pretty substantial!

  5. I know that you would never do this, OP, but if Royal admitted that they had lost or accidentally broken your bottle, SOME guests would have been demanding OBC for their next cruise or something completely unreasonable. In the long run, unfortunately, they are probably better off trying to minimize their culpability and liability. Hopefully, this happens rarely. Actually, I've never heard of it happening before so maybe it's very rare.

    Completely agree.

Besides stuff happen. Also, I know when I'm upsets and someone is not as passionate as me, I tend to feel as if they are marginalizing my issue. I may say to my wife, "I can't believe they said that". She will inform me that I am just overreacting. But that's just me.

I've been on over 40 cruises (mostly inside cabins) and I have never heard anyone say, "That's my problem", with any issue. Except from other cruisers. :)

  6. How about free money?

Once or twice during most cruises, the casino offers free gambling lessons. Usually how to play craps or roulette. Show up for the lessons (times are listed in the Patter) and at the end everyone who stuck around till the end gets a voucher for a free $5 match-play bet. If you're attending with a partner, both of you get one.

Later, when the craps table opens for business, both of you take your vouchers to the table. One of you puts a $5 chip + your match-play voucher on the Pass Line. The other puts a $5 chip + their match-play voucher on the Don't Pass Line. 35 out of 36 times, one of you will win, the other will lose, with a net profit of $5 between the two of ya.

Hey, it ain't much, but it's free money. Well, ya do have to hang around for the 30-60 minute gambling lesson. ;)

Well, for 60 minutes, that's $2.50 per hour, per person. For me, my time on the cruise is worth more than that. So, not sure if I could call it free. And, if I recall, if a 12 comes out, "pass line" loses and "don't pass" pushes. Then, if a 7 comes out next, the "don't pass" loses for a net gain of 0 and a 60 minutes loss. Thanks for the suggestion, but even for a tight wag like me, it's a pass.

  7. To access Princess@Sea, you connect via WiFi and log in. It uses the ship's Intranet, not the Internet. You can log into the Internet with a separate login via Princess@Sea. Here's a screen capture of the main page to give you an idea:

Where do we get the login/password for Princess@Sea?

    Thanks

  8. Princess@Sea is not an app & uses free ship Wi-Fi to access the intranet for things like account balance, itinerary, daily activities & non-MDR and buffet menus.

Princess Cruises Messenger is a downloadable app that you can get before a cruise to access free messaging service with passengers & also uses the free Wi-Fi access to the intranet.

Ok, got it. Messenger is an app that can be downloaded now, @Sea is a web page viewed from the ships only. Thanks!

  9. Dinner at 5:30???????? If you have lunch at 1:00 and afternoon tea at 4:00 how can you possibly be hungry at 5:30? I assume you must want to eat supper at 8:30, when I am just sitting down to dinner.

I think the idea of dining so early is a particularly North American trait. I can't think of any European country where dinner would be eaten so early. Living in Spain it was quite normal for us to be eating dinner at 11:00.

Your kidding right!? If you eat dinner at 5:30, then you can snack at the buffet later. Dud! ;)

  10. Addition

It is free at the apple App Store and, I think, for android as well. Download the app before you board, but since it is intranet, you won't be able to use until on board. I have it ready to go and am eager to see how well it works. I don't think it's available on all ships.

Cool! Probably can get it at the dock pre boarding.

  11. As previously stated, I know the backup singers are lip synched with fake mikes. But I have a pretty good ear and sitting in the front rows, I can hear both the voice into the mike and the amplified voice at times form the lead vocalists. Not only that but I have sat through two shows in a row on a prior cruise and could tell the difference in timing, tempo and volume between the show's vocals.

Not only that, during Motor City the other night, there was mike issues which clearly impacted the lead singers.

Oh and Judy has been on stage during Motor City and can attest that this one is indeed sung live...

Ok, sounds like you have better knowledge than me, but all I can add is on 25+ cruises I have never heard anyone miss a note. Also, I told my wife (who is a semi professional singer) that they were lip synching and she said that it was impossible. We made a bet (won't go into detail what the stakes were ;) ) and the next show she watched closely and agreed with me and paid off her bet. Anyway, we still enjoy the shows.

And again, thanks for the daily updates! We took the same cruise last July and I am curious to hear of any changes. This time we are taking are two daughters.
