  1. I'm really getting pissed off. I'm not upset with my fellow cruisers getting a good deal, but I now realize that this is how they get around the price protection. Seriously I am sitting on thousands of dollars spent and they are individually calling people to offer them $39 for the entire cruise. Shut the front door this sucks for us. I know I can cancel but I don't want to... I just would like to feel like the price protection program they promised was fair.

  2. We sail in less than a month on a ship formally headed to Cuba (July 6th Paradise). A lot of people canceled and they appear to be scrambling to fill it. I see many amazing deals being posted. So to be clear - ship is NOT full, neither in number of people nor number of cabins.

Now here is my issue - I can't do a mock booking for my family of four because every single cabin is set at max 2 capacity. This wasn't the case pre-Cuba change because I have been diligent about watching for price drops. Since that announcement, I can't get even get through the search function to bring up my cruise unless I set it to 2 people. That said, when I get the the cabin selection, there are MANY cabins available that actually hold 4 people (checked on the deck map).

What the heck? Is this a glitch or are they preventing families from getting the price reduction?

  3. We turned in three reports for a broken deadbolt and was finally told by the head of housekeeping that the dead bolt is working as intended. I am aware this is absolutely not how it works in hotels, but any key issued to a passenger of that cabin will indeed open the deadbolt. We asked if there is a setting that can be turned off so that this will not happen (in the lock or in the card) and was told that is not possible.

I'm thinking that most people just assume the deadbolt works how you logically think it should. It looks normal.

Oh and the cabin doors open into the hallway so there's no way to block the door. Trust me, we were brainstorming.

  4. An update as we are fresh off the ship.

The OBC from my NCL credit card was used DIRECTLY to pay the daily service charges. There was no need to pull money out at the casino. The $150 was posted on the first day and my credit balance went down and down through the week.

Strangely enough, my $5 charge at Margaritaville was not able to be covered by those OBC.

Okay so my day has been ruined. I know you all are just the messengers!

We plan on spending nothing more on this cruise. We had a job loss after final payment and all other travel booked. So we are going, but doing absolutely nothing extra - dining, drinks, excursions, etc. We are perfectly happy with this plan as we enjoy the included activities and food.

Now I just read that I can't pay for the service charge with my Mastercard OBC that is already processed and sitting there for me. #$&@%#%&

So this is the plan and please tell me if I have any of this wrong.

    1. Go to the casino.

    2. Ask to get $150 out.

    3. Take $150 to guest services and place it on our account.

    4. Deal with $4.50 charge and $39 remaining DSC balance.

    5. End of cruise, pay $43.50.

Is this a workable plan of action? Thanks in advance!

  5. Just a friendly heads up that the dead bolt locks on the cabin doors are opened by all passenger keys for the room. The room steward key will not open the deadbolt - you have to go up a level of security.

Also, your kids are required to carry their cards around to participate in teen activities or use the teen lounge, or check in and out of Splash Academy if they are 10-12 with that privilege.

This facts are related. You all will have to read between the lines. Plan accordingly.

  6. I would call up the world point line and ask them if you can cancel the OBC you exchanged your points for and see if you can have them refunded the points to your account. If you haven't made your final payment yet you may be able to use the points for cash off the balance of your cruise.

We sail next month... it's been paid in full for two months. :(

Cruise is paid off already. We sail next month.

Anyone have input on if my above plan is workable?

I agree that this card is not worth it anymore. I still have it from the days of 3% points and we cruised almost every year for free. Now I just need to get rid of these last few points and we will just stick with my 2% travel eraser card.

  9. Please not Florida, please not Florida, please not Florida. I thought that diverted Bermuda cruises went north and I didn't know south was a possibility. I don't have it in the budget for one day tickets to Disney and I really just want to be exploring a place that's not Florida. We will have a wonderful time no matter what, but please not Florida. ;)

  10. We will be on the NCL Dawn later this year. Usually there is only a charge for the use of the kids club when the ship is in port, which is certain daytime hours depending on the ship's itinerary. The club becomes "free" when the session begins after the ship leaves port which means all evenings (up until a certain time at night) are "free".

So on a Bermuda cruise where the ship stays in port for three days, does the cruise line not have any "free" sessions in the kids' club for all those days, including the evenings? My kids love the kids' club time and DH and I love being able to hit the casino or see one of the non-family friendly shows.

    Thank you in advance!

  11. The slots play option is not really a good deal. It doesn't give you $100 credit, it's just giving you the ability to buy $100 worth of slot credit for $50. You still have to spend the $50 to get the $100 credit with the voucher. You can get an addition $50 OBC and spend it however you want with the same amount of points.

  12. Hey everyone - my days of compass rewards are over. We're just back from our last free cruise. :(

I wanted to let everyone know that I had no problems using the new points program along with the old certs. In a year with the new program, we had enough for $150 in OBC.

I'll miss the good ole days! Happy Sailing for everyone who just booked with the last certs!

  13. I got a incorrect mailing for our card about 2 weeks ago. I called NCL and they took my name and number, but no call back.

In today's mail were the correct certs for that same card. There was no mention of anything being done wrong the first time - it was the exact same letter as before but this time with the right points being "cashed" out.

    Hope that helps everyone!
