We have a table for 2 freedom dining all the time over several cruises and never had to wait any longer than 20 minutes.:cool:

Thanks for all your replies and advice, we were getting a bit worried because reading elsewhere there were reports of long queues and long waits for tables.

Thanks for your reply Sanjam that makes me feel more relaxed about freedom dining.

We like to eat about 7:00, do you think we will have problems getting a table then or should we aim for about 6:30?

We're on Ventura in July and have selected Freedom dining, has anyone had experience of this on Ventura?

We've always have Anytime dining on RCI and Celebrity but with those you can pre book a time and table requirements.

We are happier with a table for two, not because we are anti-social but because we both have hearing problems and it gets embarrassing keep asking people to repeat themselves.

Has anyone had experience of requesting a table for two with freedom dining? or should we go to Club dining and chance that we will be allocated a table for two?

This is not a fully restored and tourist friendly place. It has pretty much been left as it was after WW2 and the German Occupation . It is a series of tunnels with limited lighting and a very strange atmosphere.

 

Very atmospheric and a bit creepy. How damp it is depend on the weather. If it has been dry for a couple of weeks prior, it would be fine. Otherwise, I think maybe better to give it a miss. It doesn't take long to get round - half an hour or so from memory.

Thanks Bob, as this our first day of the cruise I think I will take your advice and stay above ground.

We will be visiting Guernsey in July and I was hoping to visit the Underground Hospital but according to the ships discription of it, it is cold and damp. As I have a severe lung problem (COPD) the damp might affect me, the cold I can dress for.

How damp is it and would I be wise to give it a miss? I am interested in the history of the German occupation of Guernsey. Are there other German sites I can visit?
