  1. For me, it's always been a stupid bug - even though it shows as $ if the booking is in GBP, it takes GBP - I made a payment yesterday and it went through in GBP.

With regards to split transactions, I had this once where I went with different amounts of onboard credit where each value came through as a different line. Had NCL refund and just went with 2 x $500 credits which did trigger.

For some reason Amex doesn't always send redemption emails, if you check your app it should show as recently redeemed in your offers though.

Did you make the payment online or over the phone?  I'm keen to take advantage of this if it works, but I only have the option to make full payment online, and I don't want to phone up and make a payment, only to find it's online only or something!

Try on the App, I find the web will only let me make full payment but the app lets partial payments.

  3. I will confess to having been in O'Sheehans a fair few times at that time of the morning.

Always up from the night before, mainly as travelling solo and wanted to talk (well mumble) to home, which is England in the early hours.

They do close the bar for a deep clean, normally will give a few drinks in advance and move to the late night menu.

As you'd imagine I didn't make breakfast and would have a nice lunch 😁

  4. I've cruised NCL 'solo' three times - in the past eighteen months.
Cabin 1 - Aft Balcony, due to some upgrades and booking issues

Cabin 2 - Standard Balcony, having bid on a upgrade from a inside - the inside was the same price as the Studio

Cabin 3 - Studio - Which was my first cruise out of about 9 where I didn't have a Balcony.

I don't tend to do much more than sleep / shower in my cabin when cruising solo, so found the Studio perfect. The modern decor, mood lighting and 'studio vibe' was nice and the layout worked well. I'm 6ft and average build but could see why some might find it a bit tight.

I tend to go to the Solo meet (which anyone can go to) to put some face to names, I've never spent any time in the Studio lounge at solo dinners or shows. I found I made plentry of friends on the ship that I could drink and on occasion have dinner with but also my time.

That's more around solo experience - having never done a inside, I think I'd book a Studio over a inside if price was equal - but thats more I liked the modern feel of the room and how functional it all was.

  5. Can anyone share any recent experiences of a tour operator that they have used to do Sloth's, Beach and potentially the Chocolate Factory?

    Looking at search see these come up a bit;

    - Daniel Johnson

    - Roatan Getaway Tours

    - Lets See Roatan

    - Victor Bodden

Can't tell if they all go to the same beaches, seems like they have different Sloth sanctury's and all priced slightly differently for Group and Private tours.

  6. Recently got off the Escape, asked for champagne with most evening meals. Was a very mixed experience. Only managed Pommery once - think it was in MDR on embarkation day. When I dined at Le Bistro could get Veuve by the glass (but they propped a bottle next to me).

In all other restaurants they offered Prosecco but when I spoke to the Sommelier they switched to a Rose Le Kool or Carte Blanche Pierre Boever which they insisted was as good as Moet 😁 (really isn't comparable!)

Some of the menus like Bayamo sill showed Veuve by the bottle as included but they were outdated. I've done FAS+ / P+ on last three cruises, not sure I'll bother next time. Will see if a Amex Offer comes up that makes it half price!

  7. Also make sure you purchase multiples of the same OBC - I purchased different vouchers and although it went through as one transaction - they then billed against each individual value of credit which meant the offer didn't trigger. Cancelled them and repurchased 2 x $500 and it triggered.

  8. Does anyone know if you can still use two Cruise Next vouchers if you book a balcony more than 6 months out?

I currently have one Cruise Next voucher, getting on a cruise in two weeks and wondering if I should buy another one / two... Will be booking a new one when back but no point if I can't 'double up'.

  9. Stand By.... Just check this cost me about $280 for 7 days, given I value the internet and 2 extra SDP - would buy both!

Happy with the cost difference although do feel could be fairer, but equally recognise it's not sustainable to give away $50 cost champagnes twice a day - 4 times a week.

Will playback but hope is; 1) They have a good champagne 2) Cans of 'pop' are still included 3) I can get a nice glass of White / Rose 4) NCL remains cost competitive against peers!

  10. Really frustrating, my main reason for upgrading was for nice French Champagne with my two meals I tend to eat - plus the odd Whiskey. Drinks from a can has always been a plus!

Ironically I love a Rose Champagne and the Pommery is decent! But wonder if it will actually be available in the restaurants - doesn't seem there will be a good option if not. Couldn't actually get any Rose Champagne (even in Le Bistro) on my last cruise.

From the UK so not sure refunding the P+ Package is even a option, but I've always upgraded NCL's drinks - no judgement on my liver or others - but it's been a great price for a great product, alas all good things come to a end and before I buy my next Cruise Next's, I'll likely checkout cruise pricing of competitors with comparable packages - previously been pretty brand loyaly.

On ship on 05/21 so if I don't (or can't) refund will report back :)

  11. I'm about to take my third solo trip on NCL.

First trip, I upgraded the internet (on work as I needed to do the odd piece), purchases PP - they actually tried to talk me out of it at Guest Services but I explained on my own and enjoy a few glasses of champagne, whiskey and love soft drinks from a can!

They then launched FAS+ which I purchased for last trip and this one.

I tend to prefer champagne when eating, so was pleased to be able to get a bottle with breakfast the morning I upgraded - I may have slept in the sun a little later 🙂. Couldn't find it at any bars but wasn't really bothered.

I'd definitely feel I had been overcharged if I couldn't get Veuve / Moet with my meals - luckily I don't mind which - prefer Veuve - and it hasn't been a issue.

Looking forward to seeing if I can actually take a bottle away from the dining table (I normally share it a glass with people after) and if I can order it with breakfast!
