Talk to NCL.  With so many in the family attending, depending on the minors age, they may be able to continue on since other adults in the family are on the same voyage?  Is it possible someone from the family in another cabin can move into the cabin with the minors if required they have an adult in the cabin with them?

Yes we have options with the rooms. Hearing since he was the adult in the room, if he cancels, then that whole reservation is cancelled including the flights

If you have trip insurance and want to investigate possible reimbursement related to his cancellation, use the contact info at the insurance I linked above.

Good luck, and my best wishes. I got diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. Fortunately it's a non-aggressive form, but scared the crap out of my wife at first.

Thank you and you are in our thoughts.

What is your/his main objective. Make sure the kids can fly/cruise or get $$ refunded through insurance…or both? I don’t have the answer but it would be helpful if we knew what we were solving for.

and, since I still call my 40 y/o boys kids …are the “kids” under 21?

Most important is for the rest of the family to go and not have to rebook airfare

  4. Hello. Looking for help. We have a cruise scheduled this month with a group of 21. One person was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and needs to start chemo immediately. He won't be able to go on the cruise. He was booked with 2 of his kids and we booked our airfare through NCL.  We can't find any good answers how to cancel his cruise and move the kids into other cabins and keep their airfare. Any suggestions please. Any contact numbers. Thank you in advance.

If you have colored ink in your printer and do not switch settings to B/W only it should automatically print

I have color ink in it. I have it set to print in color. It never does. I can print everything else in color. Just never NCL luggage tags.

I'm sitting on the ship in bar harbor right now. The weather is terrible. I think a lot of people opted to stay on board. Only good thing is cell signal versus WiFi. Oh, if you are sitting in the thermal suite of the spa, you won't hear the announcements to go pass through immigration.

Glad you had a great cruise. We are about to board the Pearl tomorrow. Do you know the capacity level on your cruise. We did one in January and it was less than 50%. It was great. Thanks

  7. In my upgrade options,  there is a Club Balcony Suite. There seems to be a large price difference between a Balcony Stateroom and the Club Balcony Suite. This is on a Jewel class ship. I could not find much on the website to detail the differences between the two categories. Can anyone educate me. Thanks

cresx, Just wondering if your parents originally booked the accessible Penthouse Suite when they booked the cruise on the Jewel Class or if they did it through the upgrade offer. If you have time and would be willing to let me know, I would appreciate it!

They originally booked an accessible balcony. Reached back out to their TA to change their reservation. Too early for the NCL Upgrade bidding. Also heard that is not a great option if you need accessible cabins.

  9. Hello all, my parents (90  and 77) still enjoy cruising. I convinced them to upgrade from their typical accessible Balcony to an accessible Penthouse Suite on a Jewel class ship. The thought was that the Butler and Concierge services could assist with making it more enjoyable for them. Last cruise they were going all over the ship with their walker and scooter making spa, dinner, portrait, and excursion reservations.  Looking for helpful hints in using the Butler and Concierge. Thank you in advance.

  10. It is unfortunate that a fellow passenger reached out to the media from the ship to spread her opinion. Any time someone started to complain about the cruise, I expressed my opinion of the cruise.

The shows continued. The food and drinks were flowing. People were winning at trivia, bingo, games, and even at the casinos. Best cruise ever.

  11. Hello all,

Just got home from our NCL GEM 1/9-1/19 cruise that was "Cancelled". I have never done a review before, but felt obligated to offer a quick one and answer any questions.

In short, it was an incredible cruise. It was obviously different then what we booked, but assumed that would be the case due to issues outside of NCLs control.

We heard different numbers about how many passengers there were, ranging from 1,200 down to 700.

We had three generations cruising ranging from 20s to 89, two of who needed scooters and walkers.

Service was amazing. Staff were grateful that they were working again and that people chose to continue to cruise with them.

    Food was great as usual.

    Shows and entertainment were fun.

    Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly.

Yes, we were scheduled to make 5 ports, and we only did one (St. Maarten for 2 consecutive days.)

When the first announcement of change in itinerary was announced (No Grand Turks which we had already assumed as they never opened up excursions there, and St. Thomas, due to COVID concerns) we were offered $100 on board credit, and a 10% FCC credit.

As we were getting ready to leave St. Maarten for the first night, they announced that Tortola was cancelled and we would be staying in St. Maarten for a second day.

A few hours later, we received written notification that the cruise was Cancelled. That we would not be doing any more ports, and heading back to NYC. The current cruise would be refunded, and we would get a 50% FCC.

After returning to the ship after our second day in St. Maarten, we were informed that we would be returning to NYC as scheduled. I assumed this was so that passengers would not have to make changes to their post cruise travel arrangements.

We had a few more days in fabulous weather on the ship.

We made a detour to GSC to meet up with the NCL Star. We transferred over 100 staff and supplies from the Gem to the Star via a tender.

Then we headed home to NYC.

This was one of the best cruises that we have ever been on.

I feel NCL went above and beyond to ensure our safety, comfort and enjoyment.

We have cruised a couple of other cruise lines in the past, but typically sail with NCL.

After this cruise, NCL has our business for life.

We even book another cruise while on this one. Something that we have never done before.

    Be well. I welcome questions.
