  1. On a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the legal drinking age is 21.

If your son were to get caught drinking underage and he named you as the person who provided alcohol, then you would get in more trouble than he would, and I am not certain how much trouble that is. Now, if your son were to get caught drinking underage and he refused to name the person who provided, they would hold him in "cruise jail" (by guest relations) until his parent or guardian came to get him. They would then give both of you a little speech about underage drinking and warn you that if he were to get caught again, you would both be debarked at the next port of call (so obviously, it's better to get pcaught drinking at the end of the cruise, rather than the beginning.

Is this a personal experience or are you just guessing? Exactly how do you know this to be fact?

Speaking from personal experience with our grandson who was only 20 at the time. We found RCI to be very strict about enforcement. We were questioned several times by security about what our grandson was drinking. He drank coke, but they were looking to see if alcohol was added. Easy to check by looking at our bar receipts. They even questioned us on formal night when he was in his US Army dress uniform. However, in the dining room, all the wait staff, including the head waiter had no hesitation in offering him wine.

  2. Our first RCI cruise was Nordic Prince in 1980 and it was the best cruise we have ever taken. We have also sailed Nordic Prince a second time, the beautiful "tiny" Sun Viking three times and the Song once. Would I sail them again? If the food, service and entertainment were the same, in a heart beat. If the food, service and entertainment were at today's level, I'd probably prefer a Vision class ship.

  3. They suggest what you DO or SHOULD wear, both for formal and casual evenings. I think it's reasonable to assume that what's NOT on the suggested list - is not suggested! :)

this is what you said... RCI officially "suggests" that you don't.... That is quite different from misinterpreting RCI's suggestions to suit your reasoning. According to you, on formal night, RCI officially suggests that you don't wear military dress uniforms, or do you have another interpretation to share with us?

    Love these dress code threads.:)

  4. Sorry, senior moment, missed out the word way. We also caught the taxi in town, not at the dock, maybe that's why it was a little more expensive.

The all inclusive is not just about the drinks. The food was excellent. The fish tacos were among the best that I have ever had, the shrimp cerviche was....wow. The nachos were great. Also with the limited number of people allowed on the beach, it was great value for $45. We were there for four hours, we ate slowly and drank slowly and had a very relaxing time sat under a huge palapa.

  5. We were at Mr Sanchos last year, all inclusive. The price was $45 pp, taxi fare was $20 each for four of us. Food was excellent, drinks excellent and service was first class. Another advantage of the all inclusive was that the number of people is limited and the beach was not crowded. Would do it again in a heart beat. We spent about four hours there.

  6.

But the Blue laws do affect people cruising from Tx

If you cant buy your 2 bottles of wine, to carry on for free, till after 12 on sundays

That can affect how long it takes to board.

I found the liquor laws very confusing, especially in a restaurant on Sunday morning, in the airport on Sunday and on the ship leaving port.

We checked our luggage in around 10:30 with no hassle. We then went for brunch at Fisherman's Wharf and then wandered around town. Bought our wine at Walgreens and returned to the ship around 2:30. Walked straight on.
