Okay, so RC has no more 24 hour hold options when booking. Oh well. But, do the rates go down or up the closer to sailing. I know it depends on the cabins left, but in general.

I was searching for a last minute cruise, one of my choosing, and then one popped up that caught my interest. I went through the process of booking so I could put it on hold for 24 hours, but that option was not there. Did they do away with that? I loved having that so I could get my ducks in a row before paying. The cruise is in 1 month, today, so I was wondering, do prices go down the closer to sailing?

What about the majesty? I wasn't thinking of going on the Enchantment. lol

Ive been on the Majesty many times, but for those who have been on both, Majesty and the Empress, can someone offer me a comparison between the two? Isn't the Empress older? I know it's...smaller. Any info will be helpful.

I'm going to be in the Florida area over the next two months. I'm thinking about a last minute cruise. When I say last minute, about 2 days before it sails. Without going into details on my situation, if I do, I wont have a way to print my set sail pass. I know the employees are right there when you walk in and ask to see it and your passport. I can check in online, but I cant print it. How does that work?

Back in July I booked a cabin (solo) for a cruise. I also booked a cabin for my son and his gf as they were going with me. They have their cabin, I have mine. Two different booking numbers but, I paid the deposit, 300 dollars, 100 pp. Looks like we are going to have to cancel for now.

How does this work if I paid the 300$ deposit on my credit card for both cabins? Will RC refund me back the 300$ or me 100$ on my card and then refund them separately for their cabin.

Also, i know they usually refund your cc but will the send it by check if you ask? I have to give them their 200$ and if its all just credited, then thats going to put me in a bind.

This was my 11th cruise with RC. All 11 are either Sovereign or Majesty. This last cruise was really disappointing. Not sure I will go on RC again. Please, no basing or negative comments, its just a post with my experience.

First off, I always head to the windjammer, first thing, when i get on the ship for the delicious honey strung chicken. I was soooo disappointed to see it was no longer on the menu. Very disappointed. I later find out its on the room service menu so i order RS. When it arrives, its not the same. It didnt taste the same nor look the same. Instead of a filet style, its two cut strips. Just didnt taste like the HSC I remember.

The internet service is a joke. I was so disappointed. I always go to the cafe two/three times for a few minutes just to check in. Usually runs 15 dollars in charge but with my C/A perk I usually come out even on that charge. Now...you have to buy a package. No, by the minute use or charge. This new change is really disappointing. I dont need a package. I just need a few minutes so, i had to do without. Its 40$ a day or 20$ daily for the lenght of your cruise per device but you only have a few places you can use your device. No use in cabins.

RC has really cut back on so many things, down to a simple pen and note pad. The C/A is nothing like it use to be. I remember when all coupons were in a booklet for you when you get to your cabin. Now, its on your card, a way to cut cost and eliminate paper. However, I got 2 papers each day trying to get me to prebook another cruise. One in the morning and one at evening. Plus all the paper wasted to invite me to buy expensive jewerly, isn't that a waste??? There was nothing for me to benefit for being an Emerald cruiser other than the short cut to board. I dont drink, buy jewerly and photos are so expensive i didnt buy any.

My stateroom attendant was always in my room. Id leave early for breakfast and dinner. Both times he was in the hallway doing nothing, as they all wait for us to leave to go eat so they can clean our cabins. Since he looked like he was waiting to clean, Id always tell him my room will be empty plus i added the card in the door...clean my cabin. After being gone 2 hours he'd still be there and id have to wait to get in. Ive never had this before as most all times, i never see my attendant except for getting on and off the ship.

Also... the day I got off the ship, my bill was $XXXX the correct charge so, no need to dispute. Get home to find my bill is 20$ higher. I call RC to find out the cabin attendant charged me for the mini bar. Now, let me state that I always,....always immediately take the mini bar and put the items above my mirrow AND tell the attendant I dont wish to have any items so he knows, not to charge me. So, he ended up charging me anyway. Not surprised just be aware of your charges on your credit card once you are home.

I went with my son, his wife, and her mother. The mother in law has always cruised with another cruise line so this was her first time with RC. She is telling everyone how disappointed she was with RC. Honestly, I can't blame her. I was disappointed as well.

In closing, while all cruise lines have their issues, all have problems and minor incidents, ive been on this ship/sister ship 11 times and just didnt feel it this time. While the over all experience was good, there are the little things that can also add or take away from the cruise. Im not writing to debate or cause problems, this is a review post and for others to take or leave the experience. I love RC and always have but this time, I just didnt feel the same experience I am use to.

I was trying to get directions. If anyone has done this, drive to miami from the north, google maps is taking med own a turnpike not I95. Has anyone done this. I thought for sure it would be 95 all the way. Thats confusing.

For those that have done this, we are planning to drive from Charlotte NC to Miami. We are going to rent a car to drive down and leave at the MIA airport. Whats the best way to get to the ship in Miami from the MIA airport?

Im thinking cab but, how far is it, how long does it take and what is the cost.

It's been a while since I cruise and I can't remember the process. I just got my set sail pass printed and on the sheet with the scan bars, there is a place to sign your name. Dont we have to sign that when we are at the pier or before we get to the pier.

Oh and, i remember we would have to fill out that little card in the lobby but i cant remember what it was for I think to verify we dont have any illness that others might get from us. Do they still do those cards?

What all is the process now, besides having your credit card and passport ready?

Our cruise is on the 5th...this Monday. I got an email from RC today telling us what time each deck checks in. Ive never gotten an email like this before, before getting on the ship. Has anyone else gotten one of these and how serious are they about each deck having its own time to check in? Should I be concerned?

Also, does anyone know how to track the weather for the bahamas?

And, has anyone bought the wifi for your cabin. Its 20$ a day and just wondering if its worth it, is the connection slow, etc.

Can someone help settle a disagreement with me and my son. A friendly little discussion we had the other day as we were talking about our up coming cruise. He just won a ipad from work, i have a tablet and he suggested we take them because with wifi we can use them. I told him I dont thin that will work. I mean, i know with wifi it will work but I dont think the ship offers free wifi from our cabin. I dont plan on taking mine as I dont see having access to use it. Am I wrong? Can I take it and be able to use it on the ship, in my cabin, free? Can someone let me know so I wont take mine for nothing?

Not sure if its ok to ask this or not but, we are flying to FLL for a crusie and we booked our own flight. I added the cruise care with RC but was told they would not cover our cruise if our plane causes us not to make it. Is there any options anywhere else.

My son and gf are going on a oct 5 sailing, Majesty of the seas.

We are going to fly down and while I always go to the Charlotte NC airport we have a smaller airport in the neighboring county they used once before.

If we fly out of charlotte, its 400 pp

if we fly out of this other county its 100 pp

Now, here is the thing,

They only fly out MTW so...

when we fly out on monday we land at 12pm at FLL airport which means a 45 minute shuttle to miami

AND...coming back the only flight is leaving at 5pm so we'd have to sit at the airport for 10 hours at least. (Dont want a day excursion after the cruise, to old, i'd be to tired)

SO....would you risk this?

I know the pros and cons and risk of not making it to the ship. Im just courious to those who sail a lot, would you?

Guess I need to clear up something.

This is not a 7 nighter cruise.

Ive only gone on the 4 nighter on the sovereign.

And as far as the price is higher because Majesty is coming out of dry dock....not the case. This is while its in dry dock. Majesty is going into dry dock may of 2016 and enchantment will replace it in miami. Once majesty is finished dry dock it will go to port canaveral after that. The two ships will change docks. So, this is NOT on the majesty but on the enchantment.

Ok, Ive been on 10 cruises w/ RCCL. All have been on the Soveriegn class. Last 3 have been solo. Now, my son and his gf want to do a cruise in May of 2016. Im checking prices and Im lost. My last few solo cruises were around 400, 500 tops for a cabin. We plan to get two separate cabins so, this will still be solo for me regarding cost for my cabin. While checking rates for the same time of year we always go, May, for me, its now almost 1100.00 for just me. That makes it double. Are cruises that high now? My last one was 2 years ago for 450 for a solo rate which means I paid for two meaning it would have been 225 pp. Now its 1100 vs 450? I cant believe prices have gone up that much. Am I doing something wrong in my search? Are the prices really this high?

btw, im doing my own search, payment etc so even though he is going, we are paying separate so its like a solo arrangement.

I know this is asked alot but its been some time since I have cruised and I forgot how this is done. I have the Bank of American card with cruise point. My final payment is March 17th and Id like to get my credit applied to my bill before the final payment.

Ok really need advice on this one. Ive been on 10 cruises...all were on the Sovereign or the Majesty. I have talked my son into going on one in May so this time I don't have to go solo. But....he wants to go on the Enchantment, he wants something different and I cant blame him. He wants a bigger ship. But here is where I need help. I know the Majesty like the back of my hand. I don't know anything about the Enchantment.

What I know about the Majesty is...

2-3 decks are port holes

4-7 decks are small cabins

8 deck is cheaper cause of the life boats

9 is superior ocean view.

I know these decks and can easily choose what I want. With the Enchantment I have no idea what is what. I do like the SOV on deck 9. After 9 cruises on the 2-8 decks this deck was really nice.

I need help on which deck is which in comparisons to the decks on the Enchantment.

Also....one more question.

My son is taking his girlfriend so that will be 3 of us however Im trying to talk my bf into going. What Im thinking of doing is booking a cabin for my son and his gf and one for me and my bf. The cabin for my son will be one for 3 people. In case my bf wont go...can I cancel my cabin and then get signed in with my son?

Use to go with my sons but they are grown up now and wont go with

me anymore. But im not going to stop cruising just cause im solo. I went

solo for the first time last year. It really does have its advantages and I

love doing my own thing. I hate paying for the price of two but I dont know if i would want to share a cabin now after going solo.

You would be surprised at how many do go solo now.
