1. Day 3- Saturday April 30

Cruise day was here at last!!!!!!

Once again, up early, so I went onto the balcony to see if I could spy the Conquest. No such luck, but I did see the Oasis of the Seas.

I was hungry, but not going to shell out prices for the restaurant again. A quick search showed me that there was a Starbucks about a block further down the street from Walgreens, so I got ready and planned to go there.

Just as I was getting ready to leave my room ( I won't even tell you how early it was) I looked out the balcony, and saw the Conquest steaming into port!

That made for three pre cruise hotels where I have seen the ship from the room now.

Since it was soo early, it was still somewhat cool for my walk to Starbucks and Walgreens(more sunscreen needed!!) I made it back and consumed my breakfast on the balcony, watching the Conquest get settled in her spot.

I finished getting ready, and packed, and knew that it was still too early for even me to head to the port, so I ventured back to the pool area and chilled in a hammock for awhile.

Now I knew that the hotel had a cruise shuttle for $6pp, which wasn't bad, but I was hesitant due to the fact that the Oasis was in port, as well as two other ships besides the Conquest. I had heard a rumor about Uber being free for your first ride, which I had never taken. I made some inquiries and found this to be accurate, so I decided to use it for a private ride to the port around 10.

You have the most beautiful eyes!!!

2. Thanks cruise_guy. I have to take medication with orange juice as well in the mornings before I eat. This is great to know.

There is also a room service order slip left in your room where you can order items for a certain time the next morning. For example, you could indicate you would like stuff delivered at 7:00am and check off the items you want the night before. The glasses they bring the juice in are maybe 6-8ozs I think, so you can order more than one, if you want additional. You just hang the order ship outside your cabin on the door handle and the items will be delivered the next morning close to the time you specify. You could also just call them on the phone the next morning, but depending on how busy they are, you may have a wait.

3. On one cruise several years ago with my late wife, she had medication she had to take at night with orange juice. I left the cabin in search of orange juice and went to a bar. They had orange juice available of course to use in drinks, but if I got it there, there was a charge. The bartender told me I could get free orange juice at that hour just by calling room service. Of course I tipped the delivery person a couple of bucks.....Here is a list of beverages you can get from room service for free 24 hours a day.

Orange - Tomato - Apple

Grapefruit Juice

Regular, or Decaffeinated Coffee

Hot Tea - Iced Tea

Hot Chocolate - Milk

Skim Milk - Chocolate Milk

4. I agree that people with disabilities and one traveling companion should be allowed to cut the line in you will.......However I was just on the Carnival Dream on the 4/20 sailing and while getting back on the ship in one of the ports was standing in line and a lady using a walker with a back brace on was escorted to the front of the line to board. Her and her husband actually got right in front of us because we were next in line to go through security on the ship. We did not mind at all.....What really bothered me was later that night in the main show theater we saw the same woman trying to find a seat for the show.....She was going up an down the stairs/aisles to find her seat. Her husband was no where near her and believe it or not, she was not using her walker.....

5. I think it would be wonderful of you to post some pictures in memory of your wife. I know how you feel.....My wife and I were married for 27 years when she passed away in May of 2007 from ovarian cancer....She was only 51.....She was diagnosed in Jan of 2006 and starting treatments. She responded well and was in remission in October of that year so I decided that we needed to go on our first cruise. Her and I and of 2 sons plus 9 other family members went on the Carnival Fantasy for a 4 night cruise. We had such a wonderful time..I tried to upload a picture of her with one of her nieces from the cruise....Not sure if it worked or not......Please accept my sympaty for your loss.....I know the pain that you are going through.....

6. Delta Hotel & ShakeyBeef,

Thanks for another interesting update......Will there be another update or was this the final update?

I know what you mean about going through customs.......The feeling you described is exactly the way I feel.....Even though I have never done anything that would cause me to have to worry, I still do.....

Thanks again for the interesting read.......I think I am looking forward to your next cruise almost as much as you are.

Mike
7.
ShakyBeef and Delta Hotel,

Thanks for the update.......I really do enjoy your writing / editing work....I will mark my calendar to "nag" you in about a month for your next update.

Thanks,
Mike
Shakey Beef and Delta Hotel,

Okay.....it has been a month since your last update.......This is your friendly reminder to post your next chapter in your memoir....

Thanks,
Mike
8. I, for one, hope not. The gap between posts here has gotten beyond embarrassingly long. Sorry about that. But last I checked, Delta Hotel still plans on finishing it. I'll try to convince him to get some posted tonight, if he comes home from work at a reasonable hour, with a reasonable ammount of energy left.:o

ShakyBeef,

Thanks for the update.....I realize he is very busy with this thing called "life".......but I admit that I am hooked on the memoir and am looking forward to more....Anytime is fine.....

Thanks,

Mike

9. Hey Misty! Glad you're liking it =) In Word - this Memoir is currently 213 pages! My old boss used to call me a "ninety percenter", saying that I would do something until I got to the 90% mark, and then quit. I suppose this was his way of trying to motivate me to finish the job. I think I remember him reminding me of this character flaw of mine just before I quit.

Anyway, if he's right, I should be giving up on this memoir right about...

Should I give up and stop checking for additional postings on this memoir?

10. DH & SB......Thanks for the new posting on your memoir....I have to wonder if it is strange that I was beginning to get worried about if we would ever get another chapter in the story of your cruise.....I found myself checking at least three times a day to see if there had been anything added..........I really enjoy your writing style and I am not looking forward to this cruise ending......Thanks for sharing.......
11. Shaky,

I believe you have to have a Facebook account to see it because you have to "Like" the account to see the picture. The below is the information posted under the picture.....They highlighted it due to the "Cruise Critic" bag on the stroller.....

Man, that Cruise Critic gear sure gets around. At first glance, this photo merely depicts a person pushing a stroller up a hill in what we believe to be Boston. (The picture’s caption references Ming’s Market, which led us to guess at the New England destination.) But, on closer inspection, it’s actually a person pushing a stroller up a hill with a Cruise Critic bag attached to it. Big difference. Member Delta Hotel, who posted the photo on our message boards, reports that the bag contained a camera, dried mangos, maple syrup candy and a bag of nuts.
