  1. Are you saying you're only paying port charges this cruise and they are also giving you a free future cruise?

At the very minimum, I'm glad Celebrity has stepped up from their previous "offer" in your situation.

Wishing you a wonderful cruise once you get all this last minute drama done and behind you. ;)

Note to Wallie5446, I don't think Philly.gal's "mistake" was booking through a TA. In the past I've booked through a TA, and when there was an issue, the TA went to bat for us with the Resolutions Department and worked out a satisfactory solution (we were on a 3-way conference call with TA and Resolutions). If your inference was to suggest that by booking through a TA one doesn't have access to the Resolutions Department, then I respectfully disagree. You simply have to include the TA in any communication with the Resolutions Department.

Let me clarify. Celebrity gave us am aqua cabin for this tripk and refunded all but 398 for taxes and port charges. They gave us 1 dinner for the 2 of us in Luminae and nothing else- no future cruise or special pricing for future cruise. I'm reading of more and more people who have had this problem and even worse circumstances where no cabin was available. I could have had a 3 way conference with resolutions dept. but I doubt if it would have anything but make me more upset, so why bother. They did say I had priority if someone cancels in a suite at the last minute. I'll let you know when we get back next sunday if that happens.

  2. Celebrity cancelled my CS suite on my upcoming cruise in December , by mistake, and resold the cabin. They blamed my TA. Alas, an investigation was completed and it is indeed Celebrities fault. And as a kicker, we booked our suite 1 year ago. All suites are sold out on our cruise. We are loyal to Celebrity as well. Boy, if your compensation was so meager, I fear what our compensation will be.

We are sailing in a NCL Haven on the Breakaway next year.( My first time straying from the RCI/Celebrity brand) Hope we have a better experience.:)

We were going to ask them for the ability to eat in the new suite restaurant too. And just like you, the highest category we could rebook in was in Aqua-at the prevailing rate of course. My Husband was not fond of Blu on our last cruise:(

I guess we will see what they say on Monday. Their customer service through the whole ordeal has been disheartening and I totally understand why you would feel a need to spend your money elsewhere.

I am going to give them one more chance. I don't want to judge the whole line for one horrific 'mistake'. But indeed I am still upset and at times I just want to throw in the towel and never sail them again.

I booked a different sailing as a suite gty. Boy I am concerned. I just did not think this could happen-to anyone!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. :(

I am so sorry for you, and I know exactly how you feel, almost betrayed. We've cruised in a CS on the Equinox and it spoiled me rotten. We are actually cruising for 398. the amount of the taxes and port charges. I don't think Celebrity realizes how loyal some of her customers are but there comes a point when you feel abused. We have never had a problem with a suite gty and have always been pleased with our suite . Only once were we upgraded to a CS and that was on a Barcelona run trip eastern med. trip 3 years ago.

So we are sailing free but aggravated, We leave tomorrow from Bayonne to Bermuda and I'm planning on having a great time. But evidently there have been many people to whom Celebrity has not been loyal. By the way, they are allowing us to eat in luminae One time during the cruise. No specialty dining or drinking .

Did you book the CS or was it through a gty? If you actually booked it , the situation is inexcusable. Let e know how your saga turns out. We aren't giving up on Celebrity though I don't think our 50th anniversary big cruise will be with them

  3. this is really getting be a saga. I'm sure we will have a wonderful time on this cruise. We've already some great people on line with whom we will be sailing tomorrow. i was told when a TA makes the reservation the cruise lines can only talk to me in a conference call with the TA. Don't really think the TA was to blame- it was Celebrity who obviously overbooked.

They have condescended stop giving us one dinner in Luminae but no other special dining. We are already planning on eating the first night at Qsine and I will be having elite breakfast in Normandie along with all of you other elite passengers (hope to see you there). What they gave us was a refund of everything but port charges and taxes and a free cruise (but with no other perks like a beverage package or OBC) No mention of switching to a free future cruise in a sky suite.

they will however, put us on priority list so that if someone cancels or doesn't show up at the last minute we will get a suite. Don't think that's going to happen.

Yes, we will sail on Celebrity again, but probably only in the 1st 3 of the Solstice Class(I'm a fan of the glass blowing exhibitions)

If we were to take the specialty dining package there are only 2 restaurants to pick from unlike the solstice class. (bistro on 5 is just okay IMO)

To those of you still waiting for your guarantees to come thru- you have plenty of time and the ships are plenty big.

Thanks for you concern and well wishes. Rynda

  4. In all the threads that post about a "GTY" cabin, this is the first time I have read of something like this happening.

phill.gal, you need to escalate this. Did you book direct, or thru a TA?

i don't know what you mean by escalate, but I am now on the phone with a supervisor from Cruises Only because, for one thing, it doesn't look like they refunded the total and are starting to charge us for taxes, port charges etc. and that isn't what they agreed to. The price we paid was advertised online from Celebrity so it was an individual booking not a group. Those that book far in advance (not 2 months) I don't believe would ever have this problem because ships aren't usually soldout with no chance of a cancellation that early. will let you know what happens- this is a soap opera already

  5. In all the threads that post about a "GTY" cabin, this is the first time I have read of something like this happening.

phill.gal, you need to escalate this. Did you book direct, or thru a TA?

We booked through a TA who is with Cruises Only. We've used his services for years and never had anything like this happen. I really have no idea what I can do. I don't believe in lawsuits for something like this, but I am really upset. If we'd known even 2 weeks ago we could have found a ship with a suitable cabinThe price wasn't even the issue. I was thinking that Cruises Only could have provided a "perk" like OBC or something but they didn't and I was so shocked that I didn't think of it. What would you have done?

  6. This is a slight concern as we're in a GTY suite. There were several others available when our number was confirmed (and then changed by us).

Is this a common occurrence? Has it happened to anyone else?

Don't think it's a common occurrence but we paid in full immediately and never got a cabin number. Good luck and enjoy

  7. Curious as to whether Aqua, Concierge or balcony offered and what extra perks you may have received due to this mixup.

They did after much negotiating find an aqua cabin on deck 11 and actually are refunding us (wouldn't do anything in beginning except offer 150 in OBC. Took away all perks we had including of course luminae, but didn't tell us why they overbooked . Sorry I've posted so many times but I'm really disappointed in Celebrity. We'll have a great time on our 49th anniv. anyway. By the way, when we booked in early July there were at least 7 suites left (as I took down the cabin numbers)

  8. The ship has been showing sold out for a couple of weeks on the Celebrity website.8ce19.jpg

After much negotiating we are sailing in an aqua balcony and they refunded most of the money- however, when we booked in early July there were 7 suites available. And if there weren't any suites available they shouldn't have sold us one. The choice we were given was- take the deck 11 aqua cabin and get refund or don't sail and get refund- but no luminae, specialty dining, took away 123 perks. NOT a nice way of dealing with a customer who only has booked suites (not necessarily guarantees in the past (we're elite so we've cruised a little with Celebrity) Sorry, I'm really quite disappointed and a bit angry. But as my 7 yr.old grandson was taught in preschool- You get what you get and don't be upset. Thank you all for your concern. It looks like we got a great deal but it is our 49th anniversary (next year we aren't cruising on celebrity for our 50th!

  9. Please post to tell us what they do. Short of a suite I agree it won't be acceptable, especially with the new "ship within a ship" concept for suites.

What they did after much negotiating was offer us a our money back and an aqua cabin on deck 11 (I don't like being so high up because you really feel the ships movement in rough weather) but all perks are gone- we still have elite and eating in Blu. While most rave about Blu , the service tends to be slow, in my past experience, and the food just soso- not a great selection. Next cruise (we've done over 40 so far) will probably not be with celebrity, don't trust them anymore. We will have a wonderful anniversary celebration regardless!!!

  10. So sorry you have been let down.

Even if they cannot give you a suite room can they not give you the perk of Luminae which you would have had and Michael's club which you probably would not have had? I know you still would not have the bigger room but at least you would get some of the suite life experience.

Hope everything works out for you. Please let us know.

No, no luminaeor michael's club which isn't a big deal- luminae is. We are elite so we still have those perks. Wouldn't have booked guarantee but they didn't have any non-accessible sky suites available. Everything always happens for a reason and I won't let this spoil our anniversary celebration.

  11. We've booked guarantees several times. We always found out what the cabin # was by logging into my celebrity. I don't recall receiving any direct notice from Celebrity. Our next cruise is scheduled for Dec and we were just assigned a cabin. On other trips we received a cabin assignment a couple of weeks prior to the cruise.

Its now 2 days till cruise and we have been notified that they overbooked suites so our suite guarantee was not guaranteed. If we had known there were none available we would have booked another cruise for our 49th anniversary. Not too happy with Celebrity. We have cruised in suites exclusively with them and probably will not trust them again. Would only contact thru TA. Guess that's how its done. No matter what they do for me I'm still not a happy camper.

  12. We are on a suite guarantee for a cruise leaving on the 23rd of august and still haven't received our stateroom assignment . Other times we've known within days so there is no one answer except it may be anytime up to departure- this is what Celebrity says with the reservation. Most of the time its within a couple of weeks. Waiting is no fun but the cruise will be!!!

  13. There is no need to print out page 2 or bring it with you.

Luggage tags are provided at the pier.

When you get there, it takes only a few seconds to print your cabin number on each luggage tag and attach it to your bag.

If you don't want to fill out and attach the luggage tags yourself, the porters will do it for you.

Often the porters come right over and start tagging our bags when we arrive at the pier before we even have a chance to start doing it ourselves.

If you don't know your cabin number by the time you get to the pier, a porter (or any Celebrity agent in the vicinity) can look it up for you.

Thanks for the info- Now I will concentrate on packing (and not overpacking, which is usually the case) and keeping cool in this heat wave. And maybe I won't check the website about the cabin number every hour.

  14. You can get luggage tags at the port, but you'll need to hand write the cabin # on the tags. Hopefully they ID a cabin for you before the 23rd. Otherwise you'll need to hold onto your luggage until you check in at the counter, then walk the bags back outside. Your cruise is showing as sold-out. Can you post when you're back to let us know how you made out? Hopefully you get a treat for your patience!

Was told by celebrity that if we had the cabin number by the time we left home on Sunday we could print out sea passes which have the number and also on page 2 of that document is a copy of luggage tags that you can bring to the pier and the porter can produce tags for you so you don't have to drag your luggage with you. Otherwise it is not the way to treat suite customers!! I guess they don't want us to try to switch cabins at the last minute or something.

Will let you know how the saga turns out. rynda

  15. We have booked at least 4 suite guarantees in the past and each time was unique. Once we landed in a Celebrity suite for a 12 day cruise. Once in an aft corner, once in an aft middle and now today is a different situation. All the others were assigned more than 3 weeks ahead of sailing. We are now waiting to be assigned for a cruise on the 23rd. I was told by reservations we would hear by this AM but, alas, nothing happened. Maybe this means they are giving us a Royal Suite. Haha. Let you know what happens.

  16. There is another "problem"with a guarantee on celebrity. We have a suite guarantee on the summit for August 23rd- next sunday, and still haven't been assigned a stateroom. It could be a sky accessible , celebrity, or royal - all were available at time of booking. I'd like to get luggage tags printed but I guess we won't find out until we get to pier.
