  1. Hi all,

My husband and I are also booked for this cruise and have read through all the comments.  Thanks to all who have shared their opinions and experiences.

We are celebrating our Anniversary, too — day 1! Looking forward to returning to STT.  We have visited SJ many times - but only land trips.  We did go to El Morro, Castillo San Cristobal, etc. and took a guided jeep ride to the rain forest and horse back riding, many years ago!.

We, too, enjoy the PR coffee and Mufango and will definitely go for Mallorca!  Looking forward to insertedTurks and to hearing more suggestions from the folks who have cruised to the locations on this itinerary. I am an AARP member and was wondering if I purchase the gift cards as suggested on this roll call, how do I apply them toward the specialty dining/excursions?  Do wish I knew about this option before paying for the trip in full!  Thanks for the tip and appreciate the “how to”.

Thanks again to all who have shared.  LFV

    Yes, that is true.

Hi Hank - Your comments have been helpful!  A question:  I read that there is a special offering on sea days on the Carnival Pride and believe is was lunch in a venue — but I cannot locate that info!  Can you assist as to what and where the sea day only offering is?

    Thanks!

  3. We've loved taking the catamaran sail to Nevis with the stop at Pinney's Beach several times.

Not so fond of the "drive in" volcano in St. Lucia.

    Very good itinerary! ENJOY! :)

You mentioned the catamaran sail to Nevis: what tour company do you recommend? Is the catamaran sail a smooth ride? Is the waterway between the islands calm?

    Thanks so much!

  4. Do you have a recommendation for the Catamaran to Nevis sail? Thank you.

I've been to all of those islands a few times. Lots of things to do on each of them. Most, if not all have been covered in the ports threads for each of the islands.

    Here's a link to the forum:. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=587

The other source where I've found reliable recommendations is Trip Advisor. Have a great cruise.

  5. Oh my....you are all so helpful!

I will look into these suggestions. We vacationed in St. Maarten years ago, so we will skip the shopping! We went to a few of the beaches, mostly on Dutch side; so this time the French side is of interest.

Do you have a recommendation for a fun tour that includes St. Kitts, beach, and going to the sister island, Nevis, with a bit of site seeing and the beach?

Still looking for fly or flat fishing for my husband on any of these islands! Appreciate help with this from anyone who has fished these islands. No deep sea, as mentioned before!

    Thank you.

  6. In January, we will visit: Antigua, St Kitts, St Lucia, Barbados, St Maarten and return to San Juan. We like: flat fishing and the beach, and some site seeing. Of these islands, which are the best for fishing (not deep sea). Which is a must see beach?

I have researched and read that Pinney's Beach in Nevis is worth going to and that there is a "drive in" volcano in St. Lucia.

Any recommendations from the CC pros for "don't miss" at any port/town on our cruise itinerary will be most appreciated! Many thanks!

  7. We were in a Sunset Veranda in Sept 2012 on the Equinox---expansive and memorable views from the balcony, nice room and area is quiet to foot traffic as mentioned herein. Far from elevators for sure, if that is of concern. We did have moderate amounts of soot everyday! So, we had to clean off the chairs and the table each time we wanted to use the balcony :( Unfortunately, no balcony meals for us as pictured in so many ads...

Also, several decks above there was an outside bar--guess some guests thought it "fun" to throw food items and some reached our balcony.

So my advice: check to see what is above your deck and inquire about the soot; if your ship has it, as ours definitely did...it is annoying and prevents easy use of the balcony for relaxation and for any meals!
