  1. Ncl's package would be much improved if they added just specialty coffees and bottled water. We had a beverage pack on celebrity and it was so nice to have an espresso in the morning or an irish coffee at night and we could get huge bottles of water to keep in our room or to take on shore excursions with us. And they had several levels of beverage packages to pick from. FYI on ncl if you have one of the drink cards from casinos at sea you can apparently get red bull and bottled water in the casino bar. Havent tried it yet myself but thats what i have been told.

  2. I'm on the 4/9 Breakaway cruise. What happens to my for the record reservation? The email i received didn't indicate it was cancelled, just some scheduling changes. So stupidly i went back in and booked it again for another date and time, assuming my first reservation was cancelled and refunded. That was yesterday, today when i log in there are no entertainment options to choose from and I've paid twice for a dinner show that doesnt exist. They wouldnt just rebook me into whatever new dinner show they are throwing together would they? I have had no communications about any type of refund.

  3. Just beware that tour operators sometimes share or rearrange passenger bookings. We booked Godfrey after reading so many positive recommendations for our St Thomas day last week. Arrived at the meeting point, no signs as we were directed to look for Finally asked another tour operator who called Godfrey for us. We were instructed to wait, then told after 15 minutes that we were being rebooked onto a sunny liston tour with "elvis." The business card we were given listed both sunny liston and godfrey tours so they must be associated or doing business together in some way. The tour was ok. I could have skipped the downtown shopping all togther as st thomas was our final and 5th port of the cruise and all the shops were repeats and the vendors were pushy. Wasnt impressed by sapphire beach either, the banana daiquiri at mountaintop was my favorite part!

  4. Our car service is picking us up on 12th ave and 48th st due to all the ships that will be in town. Will the porters take your luggae across 12th ave?

    Thx...

I dont know whether they are supposed to or not but when we debarked the Breakaway on 9/13 the porter we used wheeled everything across the street for us so that we could wait for our cars. We had luggage for 8 people and tipped him very generously. We did not ask him to do this, he suggested it to us when we asked a good spot for our cars to pick us up.

  5. A tip i picked up from these boards is to bring a small inflatable pool with you for the diaper wearing kids. We did this with our 16 month old in September on a NCL cruise. Took up very little room in the luggage and my husband would fill it in one of the showers on the pool deck then drag it over to where we were lounging. Then just find a drain to empty it. We also brought it to the beaches in bermuda with some small sand toys and it kept my daughter occupied for quite some time. Oh and we used it for bathing too since our stateroom didnt have a tub :)

  6. No problem at all. Just go to guest services and they will print new keys for the proper sleeping arrangements. It wont effect your UBp or anything. We just did this a few weeks ago on the breakaway. My parents each received special rates through casinos at sea so in order to book we had my father, husband and son in one cabin and my mom, myself and my daughter in another. After boarding we had them print new keys so my parents were in one cabin, my family of 4 in the other.

  7. Also keep in mind the vehicle you drive when looking at parking outside of the port. Many of them charge extra for oversized vehicles like mini vans, bigger suvs etc. Port imperial did not and i dont believe the cruise port parking did either.

  8. Plus the toll, $14, if you don't have EZpass, for the Lincoln Tunnel.

But would be a savings if more than 2 people and you left the "extras". :)

Yes if it had just been my husband and i with our kids we probably wouldnt have bothered with luggage drop off but my elderly father who has mobility issues was with us and wouldnt have made the walk back and forth to the ferry. Traffic was heavy around the port area so if you can just drive directly to port imperial and deal with your luggage yourself i would suggest that. After we disembarked we were able to have a porter take all of our luggage across the street to a side street to make pick up easier. Even facyoring in tunnel tolls we saved close to 300 between the 2 cars.

  9. We were on the Breakaway 9/6. We were a party of 8 coming from Philly and had 2 cars. Parking right at the port would have been well over 500 bucks. I did some research and we decided to park across the river at Port Imperial. We drove into NYC first and dropped off luggage and most of the passengers before heading across to park. The ferry runs every 20 minutes and was 18 bucks round trip per adult. Saw several people with luggage, it drops you off about 5ish blocks from the ship so you would have to be willing to walk that. It was a very easy experience and i think our parking ended up being about 16 dollars a day per car. You dont need reservations and it was a multi story indoor garage.

  10. Still a little confused. I buy a cruisenext ultimate certificate. I book a balcony for a "potential" cruise for 2017 on the Jade and take the dining package. In June of 2016 I decide to book the Breakaway- a balcony- and use the certificate. I can make this one time change and keep the dining package- Correct??

At the time I book the Breakaway NCL is still offering the 4 ultimate packages. May I take a package (for example the beverage package) based on this new booking plus the dining package attached to my certificate?

If NCL is offering on board credit rather than these "ultimate packages" would I be eligible to get the credit along with my dining package?

The first paragraph is correct. From what i was told 2 weeks ago on Breakaway, no you may not combine the cruise next promo with any current promos ncl may be running at the time with the exception of 3rd 4th passengers free if it is applicable to your sailing. They explained it to me as locking in your perk now because when you go to book next year or next month or next week ncl could be offering different or no promos at all.

  11. We left my son onboard 2 weeks ago while docked in Bermuda. He wanted to play mini golf with his Pop Pop instead of going to the beach with mom amd dad. No problem at all! Not sure about NCL's policy but on other lines i have traveled with you do need documentation if someone other than the Guardian/parent/adult in the cabin wants to take the child OFF the ship while in port without mom/dad whoever.

  12. We got off the Breakaway yesterday. My son turned 5 in June so was grouped in the "turtle" 3-5 year old section of the kids club. While he found plenty to do on the ship with the pools, movies, mini golf, little ropes course, arcade etc, he did NOT care for the kids club at all. On disney cruise line we could hardly tear him away from the clubs. I think it may have had something to do with the ages, there is a very big difference between a kid who just turned 3 and a 5 year old. He also isnt one for super structured group activities and prefers to be more free range in the clubs. All kids are different though, i have friends whose kids adore ncl kids clubs. the clubs are closed from 12 to 2, 5 to 7 and then there is a charge if they stay after 10:30 so keep that in mind when planning meals and activities.
