  1. We purchased a " 3 Dinner Package" on the POA. Should I make reservations before our trip at the end of the month or wait until we board the ship? Any reviews out their on the specialty restaurants? 2 weeks before we set sail.....

I was on the March 3rd cruise. We ate at Cagney’s and Lacucina. Both were very good. The atmosphere was more quite. We also ate at the Liberty and skyline which had same menus. Liberty had a dress code. The food was very good in both restaurants. Purchasing the specialty dining package is a deal for what you get

  2. Curious what category of accommodations you had booked that they let you stay the 3rd night without moving? I am considering a suite and wanted to call first to confirm that Marriott would let me pay the difference for that 3rd night so we didn't have to move.

We had a balcony room on the POA and a standard King room at the Marriott. I was told I had to wait until I arrive to find out if I could stay in same room. It depends on availability. I did the same thing on a tour in Germany last year with response.

  3. I am sorry. I also wanted to ask you whether the Marriott charged you the resort fee or any additional guest fees for that free night or whether NCL covered them? One of the things that is leaning me against the Marriott is that in addition to $37 resort fee per day (which I realize others charge as well), the Marriott is going to charge me $90 per night for each of my 2 kids.

I was charged the resort fee for the first two nights, not the night free NCL night. I believe it was around $40 per night for one room. I read somewhere that resort fees are standard in Waikiki.

  4. I was on March 3rd 2018 cruise and did Pearl Harbor on our own before the cruise.

Don't do a tour, you can do on it your own. Tours are just a way to transport you to Pearl Harbor. Visiting Pearl Harbor is free or you can pay for head phones or guides from the national parks dept. There is a small fee to see the Arizona and either need reservations (see website). I made reservation two months in advance but showed up early and they moved my time up. You can also purchase tickets for the submarine and the Missouri.

  5. We were on the March 3rd 2019 cruise and elected to to do the one free night at the Marriott. NCL provided buses to the ship around 11 am. The y took our luggage to the ship around 10 am. VERY WELL ORGANIZED!

I might add that we arrived 2 days earlier and were permitted to stay in the same room for the 3 nights. We rented a car and did things on our own for 2 days.

You cannot bring water or soda on board. We were allowed to bring one bottle water or soda a board at the other Hawaiian Island ports.

  6. I was on the March 3rd trip that got cut short and I am not convinced that this was last minute dry dock. Consider this; if there are roughly 2,750 passengers on the ship, how did NCL find over 1200 hotel rooms in 4 hotels on Waikiki Beach in an area where hotel rooms are hard to come in such a short time?

On a positive note, we stayed in the Hyatt Regency which was a fabulous hotel.

  7. Has anyone tried contacting NCL or your Personal Cruise Consultant at NCL regarding the itinerary change? I spoke to my PCC and he had no idea of the itinerary change and directed me to the telephone number on the letter. Well, as luck would have it they are closed until tomorrow.

I just want to make sure we have hotel accommodations for Friday the 9th, can change dinner reservations and reschedule an excursion.

  8. I too just received the letter regarding the cruise bight cut short 1 day. This SUCKS. After a year of planning of this much awaited cruise and a long travel from NY, the ship goes to dry dock for a day. I read on another post that the NCL has done the same thing on the March 11 cruise.

Does anyone know what NCL will give in return of 25% off the next cruise? I would rather the money up front then traveling on NCL again.

  9. On the POA March 3rd. What are the show times and which days? Do you need to make reservation and is there a fee? Are there any special dinner nights that I should be aware of in the Liberty? We did get the 3 dinner package and will be making reservations in the Specialty Restaurants.

  11. We will be in Hilo for one day from a cruise. From many posts I saw, renting a car at the Hilo Port is easy. How easy? I assume there is a shuttle to the airport.Where do you pick up the shuttle.

Instead of doing a cruise tour the four of us thought about renting a car a driving to Akaka and Rainbow falls, maybe Volcano Park and end up at Richardson Beach. Is this doable from 10am -3PM . Any suggestions.

  12. I am thinking of doing the bike ride down Haleakala but my wife is hesitant. Is the trip down steep? Can some one describe the ride down that would put my wife's mind at ease about the ride down. We are going on the POA in March 2018.
