  1. Change was also made in the US site -- I noticed a few days ago.  Had the same frustrations as you -- trying to find our booked cruises.  Like you I discovered the little person icon in the corner.  The logical place would of been to include it in "the menu" -- or the site map, but oh no.

A heads up email from Regent about the change would of been nice or a flag on the website noting the change.

  2. "I also haven’t seen any reference to the price guarantee. Does anyone know if that has been eliminated? If so, I will be very disappointed. "

Looks like the price guarantee is still in place......

From the "fine print" of the new Onboard Savings Program (on RSSC web site):

Best Price Guarantee applies when another applicable public promotion offers a better price on the cruise guest has selected. Guest will be able to take advantage of this new promotion plus the added benefit of the applicable Onboard Savings by having their travel agent call Regent Seven Seas Cruises to have the new promotion added to their reservation (subject to availability). Should there be a price reduction after final payment has been paid, the difference will be given to guest in the form of a Shipboard Credit, suite upgrade, or a Future Cruise Credit at Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ discretion.

  3.

PS - TC was correct about Regent grandfathering multiple logins for Silver members a few years ago; we've had multiple logins since probably around 2010 or so, even after the policy changes.

HELP please on how to get multiple logins when grandfatherered in. We attained silver (had 37 nights) prior to the internet policy change on 10/1/14. Yet every cruise we only get 1 log in, and when we check with the front desk we are told flat out we are not entitled to another log in. When I mention about being grandfathered in, they know nothing about it.

Even though we are close to gold, we'd sure like to get that extra log in for our next upcoming cuirse in June.

UUNetBill, can you or someone else please tell us who we should be talking to get the extra log in?

  4. We were also in 787.

As several others have stated, it is a heavy steel plate railing -- that goes up to eye height when seated -- obscuring a good part of the view. We knew that when we booked it.

It was not nearly as enjoyable as sitting on a regular balcony.

  5. Thank you all for commenting on the possible vibration on the aft facing cabin. I heard on another thread that has been an occasional loud banging sound on these aft cabins that Regent cannot explain. Has anyone heard of this before.

LAST QUESTION: To those who have been in these aft facing cabins, would you do it over again or go to a side cabin in the middle on the next cruise?

    Thanks, Rick

We were in a G2 stern. No, we would not book a stern G2 again on the Explorer. They have a heavy steel plate for the lower part of the railing that goes up to eye height when you are sitting on the balcony chair with two cushions (I am 5' 11"). If you think you are going to sit there enjoying the view be aware that much of the view is obscured.

Re the boom, we periodically heard a very load boom that sounded like the ship hit something. At the time (Sept. 17) the staff said they were not aware of it - undoubtedly because they could not solve the problem. Another poster here subsequently reported about loud noises in that location, and it sounds like there was resolution to the noise.

  6. I will be on the Explorer in late Jan in an aft facing cabin and am concerned about the vibration from the drive systems. Would it be possible for you to note the vibration (if any) in the rear of the ship while it is cruising from either the gym or the Infinity pool area. My cabin is on deck 7 and any vibration in the above areas might be still noticeable in my cabin.

    Thanks, Rick

Stromer -- no vibration in 787, which we were in last September.

  7. Just call Regent and they will send you the pdf via email.

Like you, when we went to book our excursions the other day -- we were frustrated to not see the link to have the pdf with the full list of excursion choices for every port emailed -- as was the case in the past. So we called Regent, and got it right away.

Why they took away this useful feature puzzles and frustrates me.

  8. We were in 787; next door to 785. It is 200 steps from door of 785 to forward elevator lobby which you will use to get to elevator to Deck 4 for Compass Rose. There were also issues with banging when we had following seas. They went into 785 and cut a big hole in the wall to see if there was some issue with the bulkhead. Nothing was found but they left the hole covered by a picture in order to follow up (may be fixed by now).

I would be careful of Grand Suite on Deck 12. When i was discussing with Jason the easy adaptation to allow outdoor wings to get open air pictures from Observation Lounge on Deck 11; he said there was no winning; someone in Deck 12 Grand Suite had just been complaining about how windy it was on balcony making it unusable.

    Marc

Yes we are in the same "suite" 787 as of 9/29/17 and same noise, it is always like the sound you would expect if you hit a steel medium sized fishing boat, always in two bangs about 2 seconds apart and happens maybe 5 times a night in heavy seas. It will definitely wake you from a sound sleep. First time you hear it you will fear for your life. Of course the staff swears they know nothing about it. Avoid this cabin and all those around it.

  9. Regent falls short of being an all inclusive "luxury" line when it treats its passengers poorly on their business class offers.

As I posted previously in this thread, we are going to Southampton from Chicago in September. Easily a direct flight. Instead Regent put us on a flight though Amsterdam. That adds three hours including two hours in an airport and a plane change to an eight hour direct flight - hardly luxury. There is a direct flight available on that date that gets into London 30 minutes earlier than the circuitous route that Regent picked. For an eight hour direct flight we would instead gladly take a premium economy or even (gasp) an economy flight.

I am not happy looking at the minutia on Regent in order see what hoops you have to jump through to get a good flight and therefore Regent can save a little money. This will be our sixth cruise on Regent using three different travel agents and none have warned us about Regent's poor air routing and indeed it was not a problem until now.

Yes Regent should have some reasonable latitude in selecting flights but adding three hours to an eight hour flight is not reasonable.

  10. We know a deviation would of avoided this ....

Got our Regent business class air schedule for our September 2017 cruise (London to Barcelona). Very disappointed (to say the least) that we did not get a non stop outbound flight from Chicago to London, even though there are many direct flights.

They have us on KLM through Amsterdam with a connecting flight to London. Amsterdam is further from Chicago than London. So we have to spend an extra 3 hours traveling (extra flight time plus layover) plus inconvenience of a plane change.

We realize we could of deviated to get the flights we wanted -- but felt the odds of getting a non stop flight were in our favor flying out of Chicago O'Hare. Regent no doubt chose this routing because it was cheaper. Just want to echo the threat title: "Beware: 5 Star Cruise - 1 Star Flights."
