  1. Hello

Getting to 5lands from La Spezia is a very easy train ride. To the farthest village, Monterosso, it's only about 20 minutes. If you sit on the left side of the train, you get a beautiful view of the sea as you emerge from the tunnels.

You can hike from monterosso to vernazza, for instance, in about 90 minutes, depending on how fast you hike.

The ferries are not always available. They just recently closed for the season and during peaks this, they don't operate if the seas are rough. So, it's a good idea to know the train schedule regardless.

    Enjoy!

  2. Not sure if you already traveled or not, but you might be in luck with hiring a private driver, as it's the end of high season, so they may not be fully booked on

    Your dates.

I've used Alessandro Cammilli on a couple of occasions, as have some of my friends. I know he offers private tours around Tuscany and Florence.

    Good luck and enjoy Tuscany!!!

  3. Florence is an amazing city with so much to see. It's very easy to navigate on foot and take in a bit of La Dolce Vita. I suggest spending as much time there as possible.

I completely understand wanting to see the Leaning a Tower of Pisa with your own eyes. If you take the train or a taxi from Livorno to Pisa, you can take a 10 min taxi (from the train station it's about €10, not sure from the port) ride to The Tower, have a 10 minute Kodak moment, take a taxi back to the train station and hop on the next train to Florence.

I've been to the tower a few times, but when I traveling with others who have never seen it, we've done this quick glimpse and they were always happy they did.

  4. I agree with the last post. I am a travel agent and when I have clients port in Livorno, I recommend they book Alessandro Cammilli for a private shore excursion. I've personally taken this day trip with him and cannot recommend it enough. It is an excellent way to get the flavor of the region and a wonderful way to spend your limited time in Tuscany.

Alessandro will pick you up at the cruise port, and customize your itinerary for you. My clients will typically see some scenic vistas in Florence, enjoy some free time walking around Florence, even visit the statue of David in the Accademia. They will then venture off to Tuscany for some wine tasting and lunch, and on the way back to the cruise port they will typically stop and Pisa for photos.

When I talk to my clients about their cruise, they often mention the day spent with Alessandro was the highlight of their entire trip.

So yes, it is possible to see all three (Florence, Pisa and Tuscan wineries) in one day. And it will definitely whet your appetite for wanting to come back for another (longer) visit.

    Buon Viaggio!

  5. Hello!

Seeing all three is possible in one day, but I suggest a private driver. We booked Alessandro Cammilli and it was a fantastic and action packed day. He picked us up at the ship and off we went. We visited Florence first. We stopped in cafe for coffee, strolled along the Ponte Vecchio for some shopping. He also took us to a scenic overlook where we got great photos of the Florence skyline. He also arranged tickets for us so we could make a quick stop to the the David.

Once we finished our stroll through Florence, we were off to Tuscany. The drive is all part of the adventure. We arrived at a wonderful winery to enjoy a scenic and delicious lunch outdoors and afterwards had a wine tasting and took photos.

Finally, we ended out journey for a quick stop in Pisa. We were not there for long, so only had time for a few photos before heading back to the cruise port.

It was a very busy, but fun day and Alessandro did a great job escorting us. It really gives you a sample of many different aspects of this region of Italy. It will surely inspire you to go back for several return visits!
