  1. Got to love winter/spring in Darwin. One day the cruise lines will wake up and provide cruises to and from Darwin in winter. Just think how many extra Aussie passengers, without passports, who they could attract, if they don't visit an overseas port.

Agree with you - they are missing opportunities!

I have been suggesting for years (on the feedback survey) that Princess should cruise from Brisbane to Tassie and return in summer and yay...finally..... they are having one in Jan 2020 on Sea Princess. I think many have asked for this - so obvious because they would miss cyclone season.

  2. Thank you for the reports. I have been keeping up with them with great interest. I am looking forward to going on the Majestic next year. Sounds like a great ship, of course you are always going to get the complainers I guess there are some with a genuine complaint but to most that is their pleasure and they are probably the same when they are land bound. Nothing will stop me & my family enjoying ourselves when we are cruising or the excitement leading up to a cruise. :D

Same here JohnGc. We enjoy every cruise and little niggles don't bother us at all. Just thankful to be able to cruise. Thanks for all the info Chez - it's only week until we board, so good to have some knowledge beforehand. :D

LOL, thanks Sandy for this site. Fabulous. :D:Dclear.png?emoji-grin-1677

  4. Ahhhh...all settled in now!! So nice to come home to Princess.

So day 1, a sea day. Had the best nights sleep, so lets talk cabins.

We are in a Deluxe Balcony obstructed,* these are nearly the same cost as an inside, did my homework and we have no obstruction. We are in E412, slightly angled larger balcony. There are a few of these on the hump, no lifeboats obstructing..................

Now for some more news. Captains will change in Singapore, new Captain is Dino Sagani, new CD is Mark Turner, i think it is Mark, any way the one we have is Aussie and can't work in Australia.

Thanks for your informative posts. We are joining the Majestic when she arrives in Brisbane and staying on for the Fiji cruise so it is good to know what's what. We also have an obstructed deluxe balcony on Emerald Deck right forward. From photos we've seen the only obstruction is a non-glass railing and the balcony is extended because of the slope at the bow.

We had Andrew Kadillac on one of our cruises - I thought the Patter bio said he was Canadian. Anyway, looking forward to a new ship.

  5. That's a real worry. On our Japan trip this May we had cover with QBE and it was taken over by Allianz but got a covering letter from Allianz that they would cover us as per the policy of QBE including PE. Again lucky we did not have to test this out.

Hmm, Allianz! :(:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:We used to find Zuji good until Allianz took them over!

  6. It was all so simple some time ago - I would see a great cruising deal, book it and pay the deposit (sometimes the whole thing) and then go and arrange some travel insurance. That was in the days when I had no "pre-existings". In those days , I saw many people who I wondered how they even had travel insurance. In fact, I suspect that they didn't - because what travel insurance company would accept them??? But today, I have "pre-existings" . I have found cover/acceptance of my Atherosclerosis for our last trip - but now I also have Central Retinal Vein Occlusion ( which basically means " almost" blindness in one eye) - probably associated with the atherosclerosis but in reality , the medicos really don't know.

So anyway - it seems now that I will somehow or other have to find travel insurance BEFORE I book any travel!!! This will be something new for me - and wondering if any others are in this boat???

Insure and Go covers me for cardiomyopathy and Tony for CABGs. We've found it is better to phone them than apply online . Cheers, Sandy
