  1. "Hi - we were on the Mariner last month when it first went Code Red. There were about 14 people that had the flu. In order to keep it from spreading, they put procedures in place such as:

    - Only paper menus - discarded after each use

    - No salt/pepper shakers on the table

    - No bread on the table (other than what you get from your server)

    - You are served at the buffet rather than serving yourself

    - Laundry is closed

    - Library is closed

    - Games and puzzles locked away

    - Restroom doors are left open to alleviate touching handles

    - Crew is cleaning the ship 24/7"

Hello, I have been following this board for a while as Regent is on my wanna do list. If not off topic, could someone explain why the laundry is off limits during a code red. In my mind cleaning one's clothes would remove at least some germs from the environment.

  2. Thanks Annie-so glad you enjoyed.

It's time you took a cruise!

Thanks for the compliments on the reviews. Have you read them all?

There must be a ship and itinerary that you can't resist.

    Cheers!

Yes I have read them all, and thoroughly enjoyed the intricate detail that make your reviews so enjoyable.

I would love to cruise the British Isles. Born and raised there, but never went the the northern Isles. In Canada now and no one wants to go there with me. May do a solo.

  3. cruiserke;48399512']Yes' date=' it does count as one of your meals, according to reports from people onboard right now.

And if you add up the à la carte cost of a full meal, with an appetiser, entree with sides and dessert, you're at about $25 cost per person, which isn't too far from the cover charge which used to be in place at the lower end specialty restaurants so it makes using an SDP credit worth it - if not from a culinary point of view, then at least from a monetary one. Perhaps that's the plan, to entice people to buy more dining packages.

But if Margaritaville remains available only at lunch time, then this part of the conditions of the SDP doesn't make a lot of sense:

Say you're on a 7 day cruise on which you plan to spend every night in a specialty restaurant, and you'd also like to go to Margaritaville a couple of times, you won't be able to cover all your meals with an SDP as you'd be limited to a maximum 7 meal SDP.

They could extend the hours of Margaritaville so you can go there for dinner as well, that will not only spread the crowds better but make it an easier decision to use an SDP credit.[/quote']

I am just curious if the UDP includes the 18% gratuity? Does this mean that your will be paying extra on top of the UDP to dining?

  4. Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful view of cities many of us will never see.

We spent a month in Europe 35 years ago (honeymoon).

I was hunting for pictures of SF to show you the difference 30+ years made but I can't put my hands on them.

We were there when there were bombings in both Paris and Spain. We had no idea why the planes were all in the field in Madrid when we left; there had been bomb threats the day before.

Our parents were frantic...before cell phones and internet.

    Thanks again, Annie
