  1. On the Epic TA in October, if you didn't reserve a place by 7/8 to push your luck there were no spaces anywhere.

One day, on deck 18 I was so fed up that I folded a towel and book from one of those red sofa things and out it on the table.

Checked my watch nd settled in for a nap and good read with some nibbles. 4, yes FOUR, hours later an irate German guy asked me to move as he'd only briefly popped to use the loo. As you can imagine, this got very short shrift from me.

After calling me a liar and a rude, mannerless person he sloped off.

Having sunglasses on really helped me stay civil but resolute. Main thing was that I wasn't going to debate with him and I had spent about 8 days going up and down the decks looking for space. Not the most enjoyable way of getting the 10,000 steps under my belt.

NCL need to be more proactive.

  2. I've had much better from NCL (USA) and NCL (Germany) or US based TAs than UK travel agents or NCL (UK).

The only time the UK has come out ahead is when I've booked a v late deal (4 months or so out) with flights etc all in which have been much better value than me trying to book separately or elsewhere.

  3. NCL have an incredibly slooow email response time.

Most recently, I lost a couple of things on the last cruise and tried to contact them to get some info for insurance purposes. It took 8-10 weeks (inc emailing past guest, latitudes, admin and eventually the M&G coordinator) to get someone to check if anything had been handed in to lost and found or send a v simple 'nothing found' email to pass to the insurance company.

V slack customer service and an indifferent attitude which gives a poor message to customers.

  4. I did this tour with my 75 year old mother in November - we loved it & she's now making me check out any London based Segway tours.

She rates it just behind the Dolphin swim as the highlight of our 16 day cruise, particularly as she was the second oldest person they've had on tour (she's upset she's not holding the record).

Good safety briefing, small groups and a chance to get your bearings before heading off - we did the Conquerors of the Fort tour and there were lots to do, see, taste etc. Well organised, lovely staff and a very safe environment, I'd say safe and fund for kids, older people and anyone wanting a fun way of exploring, but plenty of time later on to explore / do other things on the island as well.

My mother has some walking issues & I'd recently badly sprained my foot (August) so was a little worried that it may have been too much - all managable and there were lots of rest breaks and it would have been easy to ask for a break if we needed it.

    Highly reccomended...
