  1. I look for NCL to begin auctioning the VIBE and other alacarte things....they have a winning formula for cabin upsells and they certainly know it.

"who wants it more--show me the money". And in fact, it is more fair than a foot race to see who can get what.

  2. From NCL's perspective the "auction" format is brilliant. The auction is as old as all trade. It matches willing buyers to willing sellers. The market sets the price in the end. In this age of the internet and social media, the "market" is much larger than a typical auction. I look for the concept of auction/market based pricing to expand. NCL gets to set the rules of the auction--reserve price if you will, what ends the auction, etc--to be their cost + necessary profit. If the market will not bear it they can only work on their costs.

Brilliant. NCL is again in the leadership position in the cruise industry.

  3. I think I have an idea. Lets use the Roll Call function and Meet and Greet to set up a "neighborhood chair watch" of sorts. We will find out real quick who has manners and who doesn't and have each other backs during the cruise.

We will invite NCL attendance to said Meet and Greet and ask for their support in enforcing their own Guest Policy.

  4. Per the NCL Guest Conduct Policy [note the word Guest]

    "DISCOURTEOUS OR DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR

Pool, deck and theater chairs may not be reserved. Topless sunbathing is not permitted. Boom boxes or loud radios are not permitted. Roller blades, roller skates, skateboards, scooters, surfboards, bicycles, and similar items may not be utilized on-board; except for mobility aids related to special needs, as approved by the ship’s management."

So, when I run into what I consider a situation of reserving chairs, I'll deal with it. And yes, if the reserved chairs are near the pool, I'll certainly have them high on the list.

I'll also be speaking with NCL about modifying this policy to include the coveted chairs in the Observation Lounge/Sleeping Quarters

  5. If NCL had 6 people assigned to police chairs each making $100/day each(for sake of easy number) and the ship is basically booked, then each paying passenger on the ship would have to pay about $1 more in cruise fare. Now I'm sure there is more overhead for the employees like meals etc....debate away....your cruise fare increases by $2 or $3? Would you pay it to have them deal with chair hogs in the OL?

If yo have ever been on a European train you know the conductor is coming down the isle sooner or later to check your ticket....its uncanny how attuned they become to the seats and passengers. No doubt they would easily pick up on abuse of the chairs as they go.

  6. To me it’s like a chair in a hotel lobby. You get up and you take everything with you. If I saw a book on a comfy hotel chair I might wait a few minutes but then take it to the staff and say “ someone left this here” and take their chair. If they came back it would be “I assumed you forgot it, it’s beeen put in lost and found”.

But make sure you have someone hold the chair while you go to lost and found....its a long way away:rolleyes:

Seriously, NCL should police(not you or anyone else) but wont because they are afraid of retaliation and putting other hard working people's tips at risk from the ire of the self-centered people that would be pissed they have to go find their stuff once removed from the unoccupied chair.

I wonder what percentage of the chair hogs are the same ones that seem to think going into a convenience store and using the "parking spot" in front of the busy gas pumps is also OK:mad:

  7. To me... If I get up to get something from my cabin then my space should be open. Even as simple as going to the bathroom I have left the space and it is open to who needs it. There is only one exception I would expect is if I was sitting with my wife/family and I left(they stay) for maybe 10-15 mins tops. And that is just so we can stay seated together

    That's just me.

But everyone else is more important than you!:')

  8. Perhaps the people going to the particular dining room underdressed per the NCL policy were simply not informed. I'd love to believe that. But, it seems unlikely in the self-centered all about me times we live in:

    • Seems to be a trend to run with high beams on interstates now--or if not high beams mount obnoxious auxiliary lights etc.
    • Same thing with fog lights.
    • Seems that many like to have their precious animals with them in grocery stores
    • People seem to love going into the convenience store and leaving the empty ar at the pump
    • Don't get me started about people self-assessing their medical condition and using handicap parking.
    • Seems many people can't shut their traps in places that demand respect, like churches and war memorials--though I LOVE the guards and the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetary. Try this their a-holes.

I could go on an on about the slide in decency over the years.

Yes, the USA was a better place when more people actually had more respect for others. Laws and signs should not be needed to replace common sense and decency. Doesn't seem to have much effect anyway.
