Thanks everyone! I thought boarding probably started around 1:00, regardless of what she told me, especially since ship sails at 4:00. When she told me boarding started at 1:00 on Vista in Galveston I wasn't sure how that would be possible with a sail time of 4:00. I'm just going to show up around 11:00 and if I have to wait so be it! Also, I saw a copy of a fun time yesterday for the Vista out of Galveston and it showed activities starting at 11:30 like spa tours so surely they wouldn't schedule those things if boarding didn't start until 1:00.
Again thanks!

Does anyone know what time they allow platinum guests to start boarding? We were rather late booking our cruise for the October 14 date out of Galveston. We're platinum but the earliest check in time was 12:30. I talked to my vacation planner and she said that boarding started at 1:00, which I thought was pretty late. I know some ports have later boarding times, but the ones we've always been on (N.O., Mobile, Galveston) have always started boarding around 11:00 or so. Does anyone know for sure?

I did receive an email from carnival but when I opened it .... blank ?
That was this morning
My email was only an attachment that I had to download. No other content. You might want to check

Just got the email from Carnival confirming change of itinerary!

I have one excursion booked through the ship, no email yet, but keep watching. I have one booked through Victor Bodden. He emailed me that he had been notified of the change in itinerary and my excursion was moved. I'm ok with whatever port order the Vista ends up with. But am curious.... I be we'll get an email later today or tomorrow. Actually, the new order would work better for me so either way :):):)

YES! Same thing happened to me yesterday, Vista cruise out of Galveston, but in October. Flipped port order. Which is fine with me, but as with OP when I called, my vacation planner said it had not changed, didn't know why it would, and although I had my original email showing the original itinerary in front of me, she said I must have be mistaken! Kinda made me a little miffed. I forwarded to her my original email just so she would see I wasn't crazy but haven't heard back. I tried to book an excursion and it says that they are not available yet.

It's totally not crowded and there are plenty of places to go without being splashed. Service is top notch and we didn't wait for anything even when multiple ships were in port. I was just there for the 4th time at the beginning of the month. Although I will admit I did enjoy it most in the evening when everyone was gone and on the day when no ships were there, it was a lot of fun and still super enjoyable when we had to share our island. I suggest you try again.
Totally agree with Firemanbobswife - not crowded and plenty of room. beautiful place. Been there twice

One thing people often fail to do is check the dates ships will be in a particular port in terms of whether that is a holiday or a day that most museums are closed.
Some ships also have much shorter port times than others.
From what I have seen you get what you pay for in terms of port dates and times.
Exactly! This actually happened to us but we didn't let it ruin our trip. I consider myself a very knowledgeable cruiser but never thought to check to see that it was a voting day when were were to port in Nassau. No liquor being sold the entire day. We went to a beach and nothing but water and soft drinks. We still had a wonderful time though and didn't let it spoil our trip or blame anyone for it! :):):):)

Absolutely the best excursion we've ever done. Wonderful, exciting, soooo cool. Probably not good if your claustrophobic though. Husband was a little uncomfortable. There are some tight squeezes. We will definitely do it again
Do it!

We just got off this cruise July 29th and port was amazingly simple. Drove right up to parking garage, paid, they unloaded bags, parked, went right to the line. Getting off the boat was even easier! Didn't even have to wait for our time. I was pleasantly surprised at how organized and easy everything was.
Ditto! Never cruised on the Triump but several times on the Dream out of NOLA. Never had any problems with embarkation, always quick an easy

Machu Picchu is a wonderful place to park in NOLA. Angel is fabulous. You leave your car with him at his secure parking area and he will take you straight to the terminal. He buzzes you past all the taxis and cars to drop you off at the front entrance and he's a lot cheaper than port parking. You just give him a call when you return and he's there in 5 minutes. We used him on our last cruise in May and are doing so again in September. You can search for him on these boards to see what others have said.

I too am interested in this as we are sailing on September 17 on the Dream

Call Angle with Machu Pichu. He's fabulous and much cheaper than the terminal parking

How were the drinks at Nachi? Strong, week, average?
thanks

Husband and I plan on being in Cozumel in September, with 3 other ships in port that day. How crowded do you think Mr. Sanchos will be? Trying to decide between it and Nachi Cocom which only lets 130 people in each day, but does not have unlimited food (does have unlimited drinks though). Price for both places is roughly the same. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Oh and i would just like to add that i know it wasn't you were putting down Walmart dressing . But i do not know who it was and i wanted to respond to the post.
Hate pretentious people and want to be's.
People who have money have no need to impress others in fact would rather sink into the background of normality .
I think beshears was possibly referring to the Peopleofwalmart website, not to people who buy clothes at Walmart

New Orleans check in is super easy and efficient. Should be on the ship by 12:00 or 12:15.

When I was younger, definitely! Never occurred to me. Now tied down to kids, husband, mortgage, lol!

$100 AARP gift cards are there! I got 4

I saw them confiscate two bottles of wine from the couple in front of us on our last cruise. Counldn't quite catch what they were saying to them but something about the labels not matching the caps??? So they were looking certainly checking closely on that trip. That was on the Dream last May.

Good morning, I may not be understanding exactly what your asking, maybe ignorance on my part, but my Carnival Mastercard does not charge a foreign transaction fee, not sure if that's the same as a foreign exchange fee. I only get 1% reward though.
-
Been on the Dream 3 times and it's never been open on embarkation day
-
I guess this is my exact concern - that we'll be delayed getting off the ship, the excursion will leave without us, and I'll loose my deposit :o
Thanks for all the thoughts and advice. In the end, I guess I'm just too much of a worrier :D to risk it! I'll book through Carnival and pay a little extra although it kills my soul to do it lol
