  1. Hello, I am wondering if anyone has yet to travel Seaside with a baby that could tell me what Chicco products were available for use. I don't want to assume but it appears that via the website there are pack n plays and other toys in the baby area. I was wondering about a stroller, if I should pack it or not. It would sure be nice not to have to bring all the extras!

    Thank you in advance!

  2. Looks like Homosassa got lucky. Here is their current and previous policy for the Classic and Deluxe All-Inclusive Packages:

*Book before you depart to get the best possible deal. The package is valid for every day of the cruise and cannot be purchased on a daily basis. It must be booked by all guests occupying the same stateroom, or just traveling together and wishing to eat at the same table, including minors - between 3 and 17 years of age (i.e. who have not yet reached their 18th birthday) or between 3 and 20 years of age (i.e. who have not yet reached their 21st birthday for the Caribbean departures), who must book the Child version of the package. The package is not mandatory for Infants under 3 years old (i.e. who have not yet reached their 3rd birthday). The price of the package applies to each day of the cruise except the day of disembarkation. The package is for personal use only and valid for one order at a time. The ID card is non-transferable. Abusing the terms of the all-inclusive package may cause the service to be withdrawn and the remaining days not to be refunded.

As I have mentioned before, it all depends on who you talk to at MSC and how familiar they are with the rules. ;)

Thank you all! Hopefully our lovely booking agent will assist, but I won’t count on it. Appreciate the insight and experience.

  3. I am traveling with extended family members and our reservations are grouped together. There are two sets of couples that wish to purchase the drink packages. Is there a way to ungroup reservations so everyone doesn’t have to buy the drink packages?

  4. Depends on if you are ok with uber/taxis. It’s about a 3 mile ride from shelter island to midway/downtown. Midway to gaslamp is about a 20 min walk. Do yourself a favor and don’t use the dangerous and overpriced pedicabs. Uber/Lyft is your best bet. Very reasonable as long as it’s not surge pricing.

PS- midway is great! I might also suggest venture a few blocks off 5th. Better food less $$. Little Italy is amazing. Can’t go wrong.

  6. Any thoughts on BW Palms on Shelter Island for 2 nt stay ?! Can we rent car at pier ?

I live in San Diego and that BW is a hidden gem! I love shelter island. So wonderful for walking and the views are some of the best. Note you are away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but if you are up for a walk try Mitch’s for the locals fav seafood. Otherwise Humphrey’s has a great happy hour and often live music.

There are no car rentals on the pier. If you really need a car, get one at the airport. Really though Uber’s are a plenty. Enjoy!

  7. I used a portable wifi router to set up my own network on a Celebrity cruise last december, the device was an older version of this:

    https://www.amazon.com/HooToo-Wireless-Performance-10400mAh-External/dp/B00RVIGY1I/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Battery operated so it does not need to be plugged in an allows you to connect your wireless items without depending on the shop's network. I experimented with using it to allow access to a Chromecast device (No, I normally don't geek out on a cruise) and it worked well.

    Thanks for this info!

  8. I am taking a cruise on MSC's new ship, Seaside in January of 2018. Can anyone tell me if they have had success using wifi video cameras to keep an eye on kids while in the room? I found a thread from last year but nothing updated.

    Thanks in advance!

  9. I apologize if this is a repeat post, but I can't find the link on MSC for required travel documents. I found a link but it discussed something other than required documents.

I am cruising on the MSC Seaside in January of 2018 to the Caribbean. Does anyone know if my 18 mo. Old will require a passport or will a birth certificate be sufficient?

    Thank you!
