  1. I was looking online as well, I saw videos of Beachlimerz but it looks very rustic. I was interested in Pineapple Beach Club but I hear it's far from the ship via taxi. Jacqui Os is closed on mondays when we are in port. Cecelia's looks a little too shabby chic, rustic for my taste as well. Are there any other resorts with day passes in Antigua? Sandals is closed until mid December.

  2. Has anyone gone to the Pineapple Beach Club in Antigua? I hear it’s about a 30 minute taxi drive from the cruise port. Any trouble getting back and forth or any pros or cons of a day at PBC?

  3. Hi,

We (two couples in their 40s and 50s) are arriving in a couple weeks on a day three ships will be in Port. That seems like a lot for St Kitts. We are looking for a beach day. We want to rent chairs and umbrellas, eat good food and play in the water. I prefer a nice white sand beach and we are not into the party scene. Where would you go? Thanks!

You are looking for exactly what my husband and I are looking for. We were just there last week and we never saw any white sand beaches. The water was not that clear. We did a Catamaran Sail to Nevis and the water there was like murky lake water, not clear at all. We had fun but not what I pictured for a Caribbean beach. Still trying to decide what to do for our Nov 18 cruise when we have a port stop there again. I was looking at Reggae Beach Bar and Grill but I hear it's more rustic. Not really into rustic. I was looking at Carambola Beach Club or skipping the beach and going up to Palms Court Gardens and hang out at the infinity pool with a gorgeous view instead.

  4. Palms Court is not on or near a beach. It is basically a house with a restaurant on a hill overlooking the bay. It has a great view and an infinity pool that is reported as sometimes warm, but there is no beach.

For beaches you basically have three options: Frigate Bay, South Friars, or Cockleshell (home of Reggae Beach Bar). All three have places to eat and to rent chairs/umbrellas, although some are considered rather rustic. Also the amount of sand between the chairs and the water is limited - especially at South Friars Beach

Good to know! Thank you for clearing that up. I’m not really into rustic and I’ve heard some beaches have a rocky entrance or steep drop off. Of those three beaches you named which is our best option??

  5. My husband and I are going back to St. Kitts in November. Trying to decide on a good beach day with chairs and services available. I'm looking at both Palms Court or Reggae Beach Bar Our last visit to st. Kitts we did a Catamaran Sail to Nevis and lunch. This trip we are looking for a good day on the beach, clean facilities, drinks, chairs and umbrellas. Any suggestions?? Thank you!

  6. Easy...which port would you like to sail from? Alaska and Miami will have the brand new Bliss starting next year and in the spring the Escape will be relocating to NYC to cruise to Bermuda. While relocating in the spring and fall between Miami and Alaska, the Bliss will also be doing Panama Canal crossings as well as Mexican Riviera sailings from Los Angeles. Good luck. You could also try the brand new Joy if you wish to try the Chinese market.

The Bliss looks amazing for next year, but in the meantime anything you can recommend that is currently sailing? I'm retired from the airlines and we fly free for life. We live on the West Coast so we are used to flying to FL, NY, and all over Europe for cruises. I want to do Bermuda again next year, good to know the Escape will be doing that route? Have you done the Escape?? Thank you again! Kris

  7. We just completed our 30th cruise and we are Diamond on RoyalCaribbean. We have sailed on Carnival, Celebrity, MSC, Princess, Premier, and Holland America in the past. We would like to try an NCL ship to compare. We prefer the newer and larger megaships with all the bells and whistles. We love ships like the Harmony and the Allure of the Seas. I book cruises for the ships as the destination and the ports are not as important. Can you tell me a good NCL ship I should try?? Thank you!

  9. Excellent review! I really enjoyed your in depth review of both ships. I was on the same sailing and believe you and your partner sat next to my husband and I on the beach at the royal palms in GC and we discussed different cruise lines and ships. You actually encouraged us to give the Haven a try and specialty dining when we try NCL. I took good notes in my phone. We have a booking on the seaside in march but I think I'm going to cancel for now and wait for the reviews to come in after she starts sailing. The wifi has got to improve a lot. We flew home from Cancun to Los Angeles on Saturday and did not stay on the rest of the week. ~ Kris and Dave

  10. I agree with spideybabe ^^^ above. I just got off the same ship and sailing. There was a big mix of formal, dressy, and casual. No different than other cruises, you see it all. Ship was pretty, checking at pier was fast, entertainment excellent, captain Marco was wonderful. They need a lot of work with dining room service and wifi was poor. Expect to hear every announcement in at least 10 languages [emoji15]

  11. My husband is gluten sensitive and the food options for him are always amazing on RCCL. We have two upcoming cruises with MSC and would like to know if MSC has a lot of GF options.

  12. XB Guy, as a Diamond member on RCCL I get free cocktails from 530pm-830pm in the Diamond Lounge, and three free cocktails loaded on my card to use at bars on the ship each day during those hours if I don't want to go to the lounge. I do like to board earlier than most passengers, My husband and I each get one free 8x10 photo onboard, and we go to the Crown and Anchor cocktail receptions where the drinks are free, along with specialty coffees and appetizers and light breakfast items daily in the Diamond lounge. We also get a discount on laundry service if needed so we don't have to pack as much. All of those things have a pretty good value to us.

  13. My husband and I are Diamond members on Royal Caribbean. We enjoy the Diamond Lounge, free drinks, laundry discounts, free specialty coffees in the Diamond Lounge and three free cocktails nightly in any bar from 5:30-8:30 Those are great perks and we enjoy Elite status if we cruise on Celebrity due to our Diamond status. We decided to look into NCL and Princess cruises to sample other lines but not even their highest level offers perks like RCCL does. Really don't see an incentive to switch or try others. We have cruised with many cruise lines over the years but have the highest loyalty with RCCL. I was surprised they don't offer similar perks...

  14. Thank you Roger. We ended up booking a catamaran tour for 4 hours in the morning thru RCCL directly. It's going to be operated by magic catamarans. Magic was only offering 8 hour tours if booked thru Magic website but said to book with RCCL for the shorted excursion We wanted the shorter tour to visit La Seu after. Thank you for your help. Do you know if we have to buy tickets to visit La Seu Cathredral?
