Babies and toddlers from 0-2 years and 364 days go to the nursery.  Based on the boat it can fill up very quickly as some boats only can hold 4 babies at a time,  on the larger boats the capacity can be as high as 16, and fills up less quickly.

We used to go straight to the nursery when boarding and wait until it opened so we were first in line to guarantee we got our main must have times for childcare.  When our kids were younger Formal night was still a bigger event so we always booked formal nights, and some daytime during sea days with our initial allotment as those are by far the busiest times for the nursery.  We have definitely been on ships where you are definitely scrapping for nursery hours if there are a large number of babies on board and limited capacity like on the Grandeur.

I see you are on the Independence.  They likely have 10-12 or so spots in the nursery which is my guess, but those can definitely fill based on kid load especially on a shorter cruise as most parents will be looking to maximize baby free time.  I definitely suggest going there first thing to ensure you get your must have times.

Thank you.  We will plan to go right to sign up when we board.

  2. We will be on independence in a few weeks.  This will be our first cruise with a 1 year old.  Do all of the time slots for child care fill up very fast?   We are trying to make a plans but don’t know if we should be worried about locking in an hour or two after dinner.
Do they have cribs if it’s time for naps or bedtime ?

    thanks

Also right about 6 years ago they started charging for room service.  That may have been on your last cruise or not.

It may have been there 6 years ago, but you have to scan your card to get pool towels.

Based on ship, could be all of them but not entirely sure if all ships have changed to this procedure, you now get your seapass card at your room now, and not when you check in.

Based on ship AO is no longer in three age groups.  They have 3-5 year old lumped together and then 6-12 now lumped together rather than their old age ranges or 3-5,6-8,9-11.  This is ship dependent based on if the AO space was refurbished in the most recent refit.  If the 6-12 yo grouping it is much less structured and more like Disney’s Kids club in that it’s more like a free for all.

Does the child care for 1 year olds typically fill up fast?

Thought I would give an update.  We did walk all over Nassau and had no problems.  There aren't sidewalks everywhere and the cars are definitely not friendly to people walking but we were fine.  I would probably not do it again, but mostly because there isn't much I would need to see a 2nd time.  We did not make it to the beach because some of our people were ready to head back to the ship.  If we go to Nassau again, we would just walk to the beach and hang out there for the day.

How long did it take to walk from the ship to the beach?  Are there alot of restaurants on the way?

  6. So we are getting ready for our first cruise in a little over 6 years.  This will also be our first cruise with our newest addition who will be 15 months.  So I am reaching out to see what new procedures, updates, or tips you can share.  We will be on the Independence of the seas and booked two interior rooms for our family of 4.  The cruise is headed to the Bahamas in April.  Thank you in advance.

  7. Hey gang,

we are getting ready for a cruise on Oasis and I had a few quick questions. We will be traveling with 3 kids and looking for some advice to any of the must sees for shows or special events?

Also we booked a dinner at 150 central Park and was wondering if it is just like other specialty restaurants that allow you to order more than one app?

Final question, are you still allowed to bring 1 bottle of wine or champagne on board per person?

    Thanks

  8. We are going to be in St Marteen in 2 weeks off of Oasis of the seas. We are a party of 7 including 3 kids that range from 17months to 4 years old.

What would be the best beach for our kids? Do any of the beaches have jet skis to rent or kids water toys like trambolines?

Would it be tough to find a taxi that can fit all 7 of us?

How far are the beaches from our port?

    Thanks so much

  9. My wife and I have been on 5 cruises but we are going for the first time next week with our son. He is currently 3 but will turn 4 on the ship.

Do we need to pre book the adventure program?

If we take him to the program at night and he is tired is there a spot they can lay down or sleep?

Do the kids rooms fill up? or am I safe to go at any time

    Thanks

  10. We are going on our first cruise with our son and I have a few questions. We will be on a 4 night Majesty and we would like to bring our stroller to help him take a nap (Possibly)

Does Coco Cay have any sidewalks or is it all sand?

Does anybody have any recent pictures from the kids water area on the ship ? I cant seem to find any good ones.

Would it be possible to walk to Atlantis from the port?

Do you need to reserve the kids programs a head of time?

This will be our first time on Majesty any tips?

    Thanks

  11. Comfort Suites allows only 4 ppl per room. You would need 2 rooms, or 1 room and pay for 1 add'l person thru Atlantis. Depending on the date, Atlantis passes could be sold out, so best to purchase in advance online.

Additionally, you cannot take food from the ship into Nassau unless it is prepackaged by the manufacturer. (chips, granola bars, etc. ) Fresh bagels are a no-no. Please respect your hosts customs rules.

If we get to Nassau at 8am on a Wednesday would we book the hotel for Wednesday or Tuesday since we will not even use the room?

most of the stuff at Blue lagoon is nice my kids loved the place

Is that the place you can also do dolphin encounters?

  12. We will be heading to Nassau for the day in February on Majesty of the seas. It will be my wife myself and our 4 year old. We have never been but would love to explore the island.

Is there a place to rent scooters? Or some sort of jeeps?

Other than Atlantis is there a must see area?

What is melia? I have seen stuff about that.

Any other recommendations would be awesome.

    Thanks

  13. Atlantis doesn't have a "day room".

You can book a hotel room in one of the Atlantis towers for the day you want to go. You pay just like you were using it, including taxes, fees and surcharges. If you have add'l person, you pay for them just like you do any hotel room (4 ppl max to a room).

Only Atlantis hotels, Comfort Suites and One and Only Ocean Club allow access to Atlantis included in the room charge.

Thank you for clarifying. So if I book a hotel at Comfort Suites Paradise Island I get access to the water park? If my day in port is a Wednesday would I book the hotel for that wed and go there and they give me passes? We probably will not even set foot in the hotel but it is definitely cheaper.

    Thanks

  14. We will be spending a day in Nassau in February and have never been to Atlantis before. Is the waterpark too big for a 4 year old? Can you buy day passes or do you have to book a room at the resort? I have seen others book rooms at other hotels but how does that work?

How far from the port is the resort?

    Thank you

    Jay
