  1. My Husband and I were going on a Carnival cruise to Bermuda on July 17,  2022 and we had to take a Covid test two days prior. My Husband was negative but I tested positive. So I called Carnival to let them know and they gave me the information to put in a claim for AON travel insurance. Carnival cancelled our  Cruise and said we would get a refund for $3000 plus. I filled out AON's questionnaire with proof that we took our tests at an Urgent Care and the Dr gave me the paperwork for the medical proof. Today January 24, 2023 after waiting over 6 months for the refund I received an email that I would be sent  a CHECK for $400.

In October 2022 we were on a 7 day Royal Caribbean cruise, We were on the Ship two nights and the next day we were in the Port of Cozumel. When we were walking back to the ship my Husband had a Medical Emergency and the Medical Center on the Ship treated him and they charged almost $1000. for their services but they helped me pack our luggage while they took him in an Ambulance to the Hospital in Cozumel. We spent 4 1/2 days in the Hospital. The Hospital charged over $1400. Our AARP United Health Care Supplemental Insurance did not pay anything. We had the same AON Travel Insurance, What good is it if we don't get any refunds or any reimbursements?  Beware !!!

  2. My husband and I booked a Carnival cruise to Bermuda sailing on July 17, 2022. We had the Insurance via AON that Carnival uses.  My husband and I went to an Urgent Care facility on July 15th to get tested.  I had a sore throat, so the facility tested me for

Strep witch was Negative, but my Covid test was Positive. I contacted Carnival and they gave me the Insurance Company email address and phone number and Carnival cancelled our cruise. On July 16th I sent the Doctor's verified positive test results with diagnosis. I completed all of the questions including Doctor's names, address' and phone numbers from the Urgent Care and my personal Doctor at home.  AON sent an email stating that it would be 30 days before they can evaluate the claim. Now it has been over 3 months since the sail date and we received another email on October 10, 2022 from AON stating they have a larger volume of claims, and it may take another 30 days to review our claim.  I have already been waiting for over 90 days and getting very angry with the Insurance Company. Our cruise cost was over $3,000.00 and I need a refund! Has anyone ever had this issue with Carnival or AON?

It's finally June 18th, the original deadline for when they were supposed to move my 8/15 Liberty sailing over to Independence. I've tried so hard to be patient, but my cruise (and my parents') is still just showing up as cancelled.

Anyone else still waiting on a move or heard of an extension to the June 18th date originally provided to have the swaps done?

I am still waiting, this is very frustrating.

  4. We have sailed on the Mandalay several times along with other sailing ships when they were operated by Windjammer Barefoot Cruises. We are currently booked on the 13 day Round-trip from Grenada to St Lucia exploring the Grenadine Islands in November 2019. We have  done 52 cruises on many types of ships and Cruise Lines in the past 30 years but have longed to return to our favorite ship. If anyone is going on this trip with us or have sailed on the Mandalay since it was purchased by Sail Windjammer/Windjammer Sailing Fans in 2012 I would love to hear from you.

  5. Thanks! That's actually a different one than I saw, which was the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket that includes transportation to some areas outside Amsterdam such as Volendam or Zaanse Schans. If the train from the airport is €4.20 as someone else stated, it seems it would be cheaper to buy that and then pick up a 1 day GVB pass for €7.50 than to pay €16 for the Amsterdam Travel Ticket.

I paid 4.20 E for Centraal Station for my hubby and I on 4/28/17, and 50 E for the return trip by taxi on 5/5/17.

  6. We got off our ship last Friday at 7am, a fast taxi got us to Schiphol airport in about 25 minutes - our flight had been moved from 1pm to 10:30am. There was a line for every checkpoint we went through but each one said 5-10 minutes. I had to print my boarding pass, self-check our luggage by putting it in a compartment, scan the bar code on the boarding pass, it prints the luggage tags that you attach to the handle, the door comes down and the bag disappears and your claim check prints. Then the long walk and wait at the security check, remove shoes, computers, cameras, and bag of liquids/gels etc, then body scan and pat down for everyone, next stop passport check with personal questions before they told us our gate #. The boarding pass states that the gates close 30 minutes before boarding time. Our boarding time was delayed a couple of 20 minutes intervals while they vacuumed, did a security check on the airplane and loaded catering service. Travel is so much fun!

  7. We have a flight that arrives in Miami at 4:25, I called MSC yesterday and at first I was told we had to check-in by 4:30 so I asked her to send me an email confirming that and the email said absolutely no later than 5:30. It will be costly to book another flight because I would have to switch airlines to get there earlier.

  8. Sounds like the worst is over, prayers for all on board. We were on a TransAtlantic cruise that ran into the remnants of Hurricane Fabian in the North Atlantic, we couldn't get into port in Iceland and the weather was very bad for 3 days and 2 nights. I can sympathize with the passengers onboard the Anthem.

  9. I would also like to thank CruiseDirections for re posting the trips.

Like Kiwi935 we also thought they were very expensive, compared to what we would expect to pay for similar excursions on a British based ship. Perhaps we will look closer at doing Santiago de Cuba on our own. It is our only new port apart from the beach stop and the excursion from the beach is not getting a good press, so it looks like excursions will be one less expense for us.

Can anyone tell me if there have been delays getting off the ship if going ashore independently this year? I realise the tenders will be prioritised for the beach, but do they prioritise disembarkation at other ports? Last year there were a lot of reviews detailing big queues to get off the ship because of Cuban requirements.

Tring. the weather/seas can change from day to day. On the first cruise of the season we boarded at Montego Bay and arrived on schedule at Santiago de Cuba and Havana even thoough there were rough seas on the Sea day. The rough seas continued and we were late getting to Maria La Gorda, Cienfuegos and Montego Bay. We we on the first launch at 10:30- (2 hours late) because we had an excursion in Maria La Gorda (we did not get to see what was promised in the description so we were unhappy) but the people who did not have an excursion had to wait a long time to get to the beach.

  10. I believe what is sought after is located on page 137, posting 2725. The excursions submitted by Cruise Directions are just thumbnails and if they could be reposted as a full attachment, that should solve the problem

I don't know if this will be any easier to read but I have attached PDF Docs of the CubaCruise Excursions.

  11. We are booked for March 25 departure. Does anyone know for sure when the ship will leave the port of Montego Bay? All of the info I have seen so far indicated 8:00 pm (20:00). Then I saw on the daylight savings info that it was 4:30 departure (Jamaica time). I will need to rebook flights if this is the case.

I've tried calling but have not had luck with an answer this morning. Thought I'd check here first. Thanks!!

Our December 18th departure from Montego Bay was at 8pm, the orientation meeting was a 4:30 and Muster Drill ad 5:30. We missed the orientation meeting as we boarded late. I have attached page 1 of the daily schedule for embarkation.

  12. For those passengers boarding in Montego Bay and who will need to convert currency at the first port, Santiago De Cuba, I thought the attached would assist in directions.

For US Citizens on the included Santiago de Cuba tour, the first stop our bus made was a bank/money exchange inside a large building. I exchanged some US dollars for CUC, it was quick and easy.

Many original posters wrote TP should not be flushed on this ship. I have been on many older ships and never encountered this. Please tell me this is not true!

    Thank you

It is true, I was following the rules but someone upstream from us must have plugged it up and one night our toilet would not flush. I worked the next morning. The vacuum system does not seem as powerful as on the newer ships and the plumbing has lots of twists and turns complicating the process.
