They had these classes on the Koningsdam in Jan. They
used the old computer class room. The painting classes were on a tv video. They supplied the products with a finished picture to see. There was a charge for the class. The origami was shown by a crew member, free The coloring was colored pencil and picture (think coloring book),free.

N considered a lower category mostly referring to location, middle of ship a J category more desirable for less movement and so on.

Wow this has been informative. Guess we'll just have to visit the shops on board😛.

If you pre paid grats with your own credit card (as different from getting 'included free grats') you should get these refunded if there is still a credit balance at the end of the cruise.
They had free grats for us when they postponed our cruise more than once.

You can’t use it. They plugged that hole a few years back. It’s been reported that if you do you will end up paying it back.
Thank you for the finite answer, good to know.

Nope, just a lot of onboard credit. Finally hope this is a go, we were compensated for a booking that didn't happen for 3 years, they keep rebooking us. We have prepaid gratuities, a fee drink package, 2 free specialties dinners, free laundry, and excursions. Not much of spa user either. Not sure what do with the credit. May have to visit the shops.

Could you use onboard credit in the Casino? Play a couple of pulls on the slots and then cash it out for cash?

My husband is really tall so the robe didn't cover the way it should. But.....they let us exchange it for a jacket in the onboard store. Love that jacket.

Here is an idea. Glue a really strong magnet on the back and use it for attaching things to the wall on your next cruise. We always bring magnets and magnetic clips or hooks
Oooo, like this idea!

We've done a balcony on a trans Atlantic. Loved having it, however it gets salty out there. We'd have to wipe things down a bit or get salt on our clothes. It's not like the crew can hose the balcony down crossing the sea😉

Thank you for your responses, I just knew there would be people who know.

Does the Prinsendam have the heated ceramic thermal loungers in the spa area?

My husband took a series of 3 Mixology on a trans-Atlantic crossing cruise during the sea days. At the end of the classes they wore their cap and gowns (bathrobes and shower caps) for a graduation ceremony complete with a diploma certificate. So much fun was had by all. Great way to have some fun on sea days.

Those guarantee's, never know what you're going to get, it makes it interesting. We got an accessible room once and it was fun, a nice aft cabin with a deck outside E2707 on the Zaandam to Alaska. Access was easy to that deck, for pictures, the room had the huge shower (my husband is 6'6", so very nice for him), the doorway into the room was nice and wide (making it nicer to get access into that cabinet wall), yes the sofa was smaller. Since we had booked an inside guaranteed this was a nice upgrade for us.

Unfortunately, it's always per person.

This sounds fun! We have 8 sea days in a row, hope our ship is offering this tour when we check in onboard, to add us to a possible list.

We just scored, we booked a guaranteed inside, the only option for an inside at the time. Getting closer to sailing, price went up. I still kept looking. It's been sold out, but now after final payment by a few weeks, it is showing available. The price is showing the same for an outside without an obstruction as the inside and it's the same price we paid. So I called and asked if they could do anything, they gave me a nice outside cabin with a number not a guaranteed, we even got to pick it from several choices. Wow, I say "Thank You Holland America" that was nice! We did not pay anything extra at all.

We have done this tour on Princess for the same price. It was fantastic and lasted for a long time, with champagne and chocolate strawberries, plus some lovey appetizers. Then we got back to our cabin there were gifts left for us to keep. The blue checked apron, note pads with our names on them, a framed picture with the Captain on the bridge, plus the new packaged fluffy beautiful robes all to keep. So the $150 for the tour went mostly for the lovely gifts.
We visited the sick bay, behind the stage, photo processing, print shop, kitchen, plus the fridges and storage area, the morgue, crew quarters, laundry (my personal favorite, those machines that fold stuff are amazing), anchor room, control room and of course the bridge.
Do they do this on Holland America?

Could book ajoining cabins or if balcony, open the door out on the balcony. It's an idea;) If it's too hard to get keys.

Join your cruise critic shipmates on March 5th (first sea day) at the Retreat Pool, Lido deck, aft at 10:00 for an informal get together. We will be wearing mardi gras beads as identifiers.

The OP won't have a boarding pass until about November.
oops:o

Check your boarding pass, it indicates how many "Gala" nights you should expect.
Experience with adjoining rooms

We must be odd. Not once in an adjoining room have we ever heard anyone next to us except out in the hall. Not an alarm, voices, nothing.
