Hello everyone.  We had booked a Transatlantic crossing on Riviera from Oct 28, 2020 to Nov 13, 2020.  Rome to Miami.  We paid a $1,500 deposit plus $224 for dinner (for 2) in La Reserve.  We cancelled our booking on April 10, before incurring any admin fees or penalties.  We received the total refund last night ($1,724) back to our payment credit card. So it took (only) 49 days from time of cancellation to receipt of refund.  Regards.

Same cruise - same deposit - same cancellation date - also received last night on our credit card.

  2. Our favorite Princess Cruise was the 2008 World Cruise on the Pacific Princess. It was our gift to ourselves for out 40th wedding anniversary. We had a great time. JJ King was the cruise director and he did a marvelous job. It was Princess first world cruise after a 12 year hiatus from that market. We made friends that we still talk to and see today. Our second favorite cruise was the Norwegian coast on the Ocean Princess. The scenery was magnificent.

  3. Our favorites are the Pacific Princess and the Coral Princess. We liked the Ocean (sold) and the Island before its changes. We like size of these ships. We have sailed the Ruby twice - the service was terrible on both cruises as the staffing seems inadequate for size of the ship.

  4. We were in port in Asia and a passenger was touting his good fortune at finding $5 bottle of a French Bordeaux. He show us the bottle which had a photocopied label. It was counterfeit. He discovered that fact when he open the first bottle of colored water. Buyer beware

  5. Bob,

We were in the cabin next to yours (6093) on the Ocean Princess last year for 64 days. This is the same class ship and it had the same problems with vibration. We did notice it was much worse when higher speeds were required to make the next port on time. At other times though it was gone. We sort of got used to it but have decided to skip the lower aft cabins on this ship in the future.

We were on the Ocean (6093) in Norway and noticed the vibration anytime the speed was above 20 knots. I too avoid the rear facing cabins. We were on the Pacific Princess in 7016 and an aft cabin port side for 120 days and never noticed any vibration.

  6. Something I wondered about when we passed these hilly vineyards was how in the world people could work in them without falling down the hill.

Interesting question. In the vineyards you saw, the rows are worked by teams of six or eight. Each team member wears a harness or a belt with a ring in back. A tractor at the top of the hill has a power winch and a rope with clips that attach to each member of the team. The workers start at the top and prune, thin, leaf pull, or harvest depending on the growing cycle. Once the first six or eight vines are finished, the winch lowers the team down to the next set of vines. It is pretty intersting process to watch or try your hand at. I did it once when I was ALOT younger. It takes a bit of balance but it seems to work.

Great report - thanks for posting - we are booked for next year.
