A little late on a reply - but we did the Universal Studios transfer around Thanksgiving and I'm pretty sure Disney runs the same way: Obviously everyone departs the ship at the same time. Then for the return, as I recall there were two or three return time options towards the end of the day (like 4pm, 4:30pm give or take). They don't offer shuttles all day.

If my notes are correct: We left the ship at 7:30a or so (which got us to Universal right at the 9a opening time) and then took a 4:30pm bus back which I think was the second-to-last of the day. All-on-board was 6:30pm I think.

As you can see that despite what the tour duration might say, they do give you as much time as the park as possible given the ship's departure time (which I guess, is either good or bad if you have a two-year-old!)

Thank you for your reply! That info is very helpful... obviously we want to spend as much time in the park as possible, however just wanted to know we could head back to the ship earlier should we need to.

Still trying to figure out what to do about a car seat for the 2 year old on the bus.

  2. Hello All,

We are sailing on the Anthem on December 20th. One of our stops is Port Canaveral for which we plan to head over to Disney, first time with our kids ages 8 and 2.

We want to use the cruise line provided transfers to avoid any stress and issues with getting back to the ship on time. I know I saw a thread pop up not too long ago about the same topic but couldn't locate it again.

My question is to people who have used the cruise line provided transfer, once you are there, are there busses running back to the ship all day long or are you there for a set amount of time? Also, since my son will only be 2, what should we do about a car seat? Obviously we don't want to be lugging a car seat around the park with us.

Thank you all in advance for your help!

In what ways were the service lacking? I'm traveling on spring break in a few weeks with a full ship. It helps to know what to look expect or avoid

For example, dinner service was extremely slow, we had 7:30pm My Time reservations for which we were sat right away every night and we didn't leave the dining room most nights until after 9:30pm. Dessert was served and finished before we would get our coffee. Bar service at the Solarium bar and the Wipeout bar was extremely slow. Solarium bar mostly because they couldn't keep up with the demand even though the bartenders were hustling hard to do so but the Wipeout bar bartenders just always seemed to be taking their sweet time serving. Also a lot of the crew just seemed to be going through the motions.

This was just our experience and having talked to a few other people in other seatings, they had the same concerns about the dinner service as well. But don't get me wrong, there were other instances were the service was outstanding and overall we had a great time. Service is a subjective subject to everybody and we typically just roll with it because we are just happy to be on vacation! Hopefully the OP's review says differently about the service they experience, enjoy your cruise!!

  4. I agree with some of the other posters, you have to be somewhat educated in what you are looking to get and do your homework as to what something may cost in the states. They can tell you its tax and uty free all they want, but most times they have the prices jacked up so they can lower the price and show you "what an amazing deal they are giving you!"

We just bought a beautiful Tanzinite and diamond ring from DI in St. Maarten. It's amazing how the numbers on their little calculators keep dropping every time you walk towards the door.

We bought some stuff from a store in Cozumel last year and got an amazing deal on a 1 carat ruby pendant and a pair of 1/2 carat tanzinite earrings, the store wasnt on the ships recommended list. Had them appraised in the states, both were worth just about $500 more than what we paid! So there are deals to be had, just don't be afraid to go outside of the ships recommended shopping and don't fall for DI or TI being the only game in town.
