1. All the (only 6 in total) flights are scheduled to have you on the ship by lunchtime, that 8.30pm muster could have been for the glasgow flight about 6/7 weeks ago, it was delayed 7 hours (we were waiting for the return)

Hi, it was the cruise that departed 25 May, muster was 8.30pm as a friend was on board. I assumed this was 'normal' time until I read on here of a 6.00pm muster. The earlier time would suit us much better, just have to hope for no delays then I guess.

  2. In recent weeks I have read of some who have had muster at 8.30pm and some who have had muster at 6.00pm, it would be interesting to know why some are held later. It is my birthday on the day we board and we were hoping to book the a la carte restaurant but felt that post muster, if at 8.30pm, might be too late with such an early start to the day.

  3. We will be in Venice this Summer and I would like to visit Murrano & Burrano. The Thomson price for this trip is £40, so £200 for the 5 of us. How easy would this be to do on our own? Can I get a water taxi from the port direct to one of them and then onto the next or would we need to travel via the mainland? Also does anyone have an up to date price for a days ticket for the water taxi please?

  4. Hello, so I am aware that luggage will be 'bonded' at the airport on our outbound journey so no need for baggage reclaim upon arrival. On your return trip does this mean that you can head straight for passport control upon arriving at Dubrovnik airport as you will not have any cases to check in? My understanding is they are taken from outside your cabin the night before and you don't see them again until baggage reclaim in the UK?

  5. We walked into central Venice. Took the people mover into P. Roma that only takes a few minutes. We followed signs for Accademia and wended our way in up and over many small canals. It was a lovely walk and although still plenty of people about it wasn't touristy crowds. We came back along the canal promenade. We didn't take the ferry across the Grand canal tomSt Marks Sq. as we have done that area before. I think each leg took about and hour.

This may seem a silly question, but does the canal promenade run from the Rialto bridge right up to the cruise terminal?

  6. I used Quidco back in August for a cruise in July 2017, cash back was paid almost instantly (£175.74) having only paid the low deposit at that stage, I was very surprised at the speed of payment. Used them for a P&O cruise booked October 2016, not sailing until May 2018, only paid 5% deposit so far and received cash back yesterday. Very pleased with Quidco.

  7. We have just come back from a great cruise on the Spirit. We were in cabin 699 which is on the other side of the ship(odds along one side evens along the other) we asked for this cabin. You do feel the vibration wherever you are but its not too bad. It's midship so you feel very little movement. Also we found it very quiet. We love the Spirit and are sad that next year is her last. We never smelled diesel. I don't think 728 is very far from 698 but I'm not sure. I hope you have a wonderful cruise. Please ask and will help if I can with anything.

Thank you that's very reassuring. 728 is just the other side of the lifts to 698 so not too far, and they are both inside cabins so hopefully will be quiet too. Glad you didn't detect any smell of diesel.

  8. Hi, booked Spirit for next Summer and have opted for two cabins on deck two for our older children, single 728 and twin 698 as we wanted them close together. A little worried now as I've just been reading back through this forum and noticed that someone has said that cabins near the rear of deck 2 are noisy and (more worryingly) smell of diesel. Can anyone confirm if this is likely to be true for these cabins please?

  9. I think the change should be dependant on when you booked and not when you travel. If you booked when gratuities were detailed at £3.95 then that's what you should pay surely? P&O can't move the goalposts after people have booked and expect them to be happy. We travel as a family of 5 so any increase is 5 fold for me.

  10. I was point blank ignored on more than one occasion by the two Eastern European waitresses in the Royal Observatory! Sat with empty glasses for ages whilst they walked past our table. Tried a polite "excuse me" as one walked past and was ignored completely, tried louder, same response. Happened on different days with different waitresses.

  11. Hi Jo,

Yes I just read your cabin report. We were on deck 4 and are having the same cabin again as it was very quiet.

We had a similar problem on the Dream - bow thrusters waking us up every time we docked

Glad you enjoyed the cruise though. Agree about Venice sail in - stunning and unforgetable. Pity about Montenegro though. It is a lovely country. We had a holiday there a few years ago.

What did you think of the Majesty? (apart from the cabin)

    Hi Linda,

Apart from the cabin noise we had no real complaints, except for some soot soiled clothes from the sun beds at the rear of deck 8, I just can't wash the stuff out!!

However, we all agreed that on balance we prefer Dream. Our outside plus cabin on Dream was just as nice and I'm sure of a similar size, as our suite on Majesty (at much less cost). My daughters balcony outside plus on Majesty was smaller and rather spartan. Our cabins were only hoovered once the entire two weeks! We also all preferred the rear pool on Dream, and the surrounding sun bed area, the two central pools on Majesty were both noisy and small. We also liked the smaller buffet on Dream, which had the pasta counter at lunchtime, the only pasta counter on Majesty was on the sun deck in the evening.

I'm probably not going to be too popular for saying this either, but we found the addition of the Eastern European staff detracted from the happy, smiley, helpful service we had experienced previously. Despite being onboard for two weeks, and trying our best to make conversation, most remained surly and sullen:confused:

The itinerary however was amazing, and I would still consider sailing on Majesty in the future.

  12. Hi Jo

Hope you had a good cruise :)

Hi Linda, we had a lovely time, just made a bad choice of cabins:(

We were directly under the sun deck and were woken each morning at 5.30am by the tables and chairs being put out. On the nights of the deck parties it was 3.30am before we were able to get off to sleep. We did request a move, but the ship was full.

The itinerary however was great, the highlight for me was the sail in to Venice, just amazing. Sadly the sail in to Montenegro was a wash out due to heavy rain, but managed to enjoy a rain free sailaway.

  13. Cabin Review Format

    Cabin Number: 923

    Cruise Ship: Majesty

Date of Cruise: 25 July 2014

Bed Formation: double bed with double sofa bed

    Bath/Shower?: Bath with shower over

    Adjoining Cabin?: no

    Balcony?: no

Comment on the Size of the Cabin: Very small for a suite, almost impossible to move between beds when the sofa bed was up and being used.

Comment on any Noise Issues: Dreadful noise issues from the sun deck above. Tables and chairs being set up and put away at 2.30am and again at 5.30am. Constant noise from buffet trolleys being wheeled between Cafe Royal and Piazza San Marco and have up trying to sleep at all on the nights a deck party was held, by the time the music was switched off at 2.00am and the chairs were cleared away by 3.30am, they started setting them all out again at 5.30am.

Comment on Storage Space: inadequate for 3 persons, not sure how 4 would manage if the cabin were fully occupied, a walk in wardrobe with one ling hanging rail and a small cupboard with 3 shelves, a cupboard bedside the sofa bed with 3 shelves and one small set of drawers beside the double bed.

Comment on the Bathroom: A bath with shower over, part screen, part curtain. 3 small inset shelves for storing toiletries and two hooks on the back of the door.

    Any Other Comments?:

Would You Recommend this Cabin?: NO!

Comment on any Noise Issues: horrendous noise from the sun deck above, dragging of tables and chairs, buffet trolleys being wheeled from one end of the shop to the other, and sleeping was impossible when a deck party was in progress.

Comment on Storage Space: A triple wardrobe with lots of hanging space, a bedside set of drawers and a larger chest of drawers, plenty for two people.

Comment on the Bathroom: a wet room layout with a slight slope to the floor into the shower cubicle, no shelves for storage of toiletries though.

  15. I was onboard on this day and it was so sweet seeing the staff from both ships greeting each other both on and off ship. Lots met on the quayside whilst others had to make do with waving and calling across from the sun deck, we were right next door to each other. Some of Majesty staff and passenger even joined in the sailaway dancing when Destiny/Louis left port.

  16. we've just returned from our cruise on the celebration - and there have been a few changes to the AI the most notable one being that the coffees (Latte, Americano, etc ) have been removed, however you can still get coffee for a supplement in the Coffee Port and the cake is discounted for those on the drink packages too...

Does anyone know if coffees have been removed frpm the DP fleet wide?? We are on Majesty in July.

  17.
Ah I can't decide whether to do Brugge or try blankenberge :o

Was going for blankenberge then someone in work said Brugge is lovely

Is blankenberge as "pretty" as Brugge?

Last year we went to Cherbourg on a two day and thought it was lovely.

Probably an obvious question but where would I find out what time we leave port please. Thank you :)
We've just booked a 7 night cruise for next October which stops in Cherbourg, what did you do on your stop? Is anything walkable from the port?
