  1. Hi all..

My wife and I are going to be on Azamara Jjourney in a couple of weeks and we have two full days in Livorno..

I have rented a car and we are planning to drive to Portofino the first day..It is supposed to be about two hours drive using the Autostrada which is OK, but I am wondering if a more leisurely drive up the coast might be more fun...am wondering how many hours that might take and what some of the "must sees" are along the way???

Day two...we have no interest in Florence or Pisa and would like some suggestions...I'm told Lucca is a pretty cool town...other ideas would be appreciated..

    Thanks in advance..

  3. Hi..

My wife and I are on the JOURNEY this October an will have an overnight (basically two full days) in Livorno..

We don't like Florence at all, are not interested in the Leaning Tower of Pisa, have a rental car waiting at the port and are wondering what other non-touristy/traditional adventures might await???

We are thinking of driving up to Portofino (where we have never been) which is two hours +/- up the road each way,and we are fine with that, but just wondering what the roads up the coast to Portofino might bring??????

We are thinking that might be the first day in port and are a but worried about day 2

because we plan to return the car around 3PM which will give us plenty of time to get back to the ship...

    Thoughts anyone???

    Best..

  4. Hello all..

    Need some advice..

Booked out of Civitavecchia in October on Oct 4 but arrive on Oct 3 at FCO around 1PM..

Thinking of just going to Civitavecchia and staying overnight there instead of schlepping downtown (arriving later in the afternoon with little time to do anything) and then getting up next morning just to turn around and go back to the port..

Any recommendations on hotels in Civitavecchia, restaurants and stuff to do there would be appreciated..

    Thanks much

    Greg

  5. The CENTURY was the last Celebrity ship designed and built when Chandris owned the company.

As such, she boasts a multi million dollar "real art" collection (as opposed to the fake art which followed on the newer ships) which was donated by the Chandris family from their personal collection. Interestingly, there used to be two lifesize sculptures of a man and a woman opposite the port and starboard entrances to the main show lounge. One of those mysteriously disappeared one year when she was in drydock. I don't know if Celebrity ever figured that one out or if the sculpture ever found it's way back.

We were on board for the Millenium cruise in 2000 and have sailed in her a number of other times. It would be sad to see her go.
