I just booked a Neptune Suite to Alaska with a friend, and we want our own beds - no couch. I didn’t read any comments about this situation. We did it for the space! Late summer, 2024, which is already very full. We got an aft corner so we are set. Just don’t tell my bank account!

I was just about to bring this up! I’ve been shopping several cruise lines lately, spending time on the websites looking at deck plans, amenities, etc. shortly after I received the free inside stateroom offer- upgraded to veranda. Didn’t get the LOW prices I read about here, but it departs in 30ish days so I am still happy with the big discount.

The marketer in me wonders if perhaps they’re also potentially tracking how much time one spends on the website, browsing different itineraries without booking anything. (You don’t even have to be logged in when you’re browsing for them to know it’s you, as long as you’ve logged in on that browser before and allow cookies.) Offers might go out to people they think want to cruise but haven’t booked anything recently, and if they can get them onboard, especially on itineraries that aren’t selling as well, they can hope to capture some onboard spending.

Such a comprehensive review, and really good photos… we may book for July if it’s not too late and I don’t know this ship. Nothing on the roll call! Thanks for your time, I am much more hopeful about our experience.

On your Catalina day, they'll start giving out tender numbers on the lido deck between blue iguana and guys burgers ( I think they started this around 7:30/8am). If you grab a ticket you just wait for your number to be called, otherwise you have to wait until general which might be around noon.
If you have an excursion, they handle it for you and you just meet up where they tell you to.
Enjoy your trip in July!

I don't gamble. We cancelled our May 20 Alaska cruise a couple of weeks ago so we receive a full refund minus the $200 deposit which will be FCC.
Hi, what kind of trip insurance did you have? Thanks.

Are there travelers going on the "Grand European Tour" on Sept 5, 2017 from Amsterdam to Budapest? There are 4 of us traveling together. This will be our first river cruise with Vantage. Looking for tips on tours at the various stops along the way. I have read some of the previous posts about visiting Rothenburg as an optional tour. Any opportunities to visit the camps at Nuremberg? We will do the post-cruise extension to Bratislava and Prague. Looking forward to seeing and enjoying this part of Europe. We have done the a GCT river cruise from Paris to Nice several years ago. Thanks for any advice and info.
We too/two are taking the same cruise but on October 3. Also our first river cruise. Hope to see more posts about this itinerary

THANK YOU for this informative and comprehensive review! We used Gate 1 to Brazil and did not like the hotel but the trip was so cheap we moved to and paid for another Hotel and still came out great. Maybe it was just Brazil so after reading your review, we will definitely give Gate 1 a look.

We booked the half day city tour from our ship to hotel, and really saw & learned a lot. Tour included tickets to Park Guell which was wonderful. Our tour guide whose name I cannot remember (sadly) knew the hours of the many attractions and realized she had time to hustle us into the crypt at Sagrada Familia before it closed to non-paying tourists. Great intro to this marvelous site which we visited later on our own. We viewed several homes and other buildings designed by Gaudi, some by van, some walking around. She kept us moving which was challenging, but she always kept a positive attitude. She knew the best photo spots which was great. Then on to our hotel which was....different! BDT advised us in advance that they were not allowed to drive into certain zones in the city center, so would transfer us to a taxi and then reimburse us for that cost. Our awesome guide had to...argue? Convince? ( Not sure, my Spanish not THAT good) a driver to take us in. He was grumpy but not her fault! Had to walk for about 5 minutes tops, but that's part of the adventure! Overall it was a wonderful day, BDT provided very clear instructions for finding them at the port terminal. Well done, BDT!

For such detailed information, further confirms my high opinion of CruiseCritic. Your advice is appreciated for our situation: we were offered free lodging in Paris for 3 weeks, yay, Stockholm was not on our radar until we found great flights on Norwegian to/from ARN. We depart Paris 4 Aug, depart ARN for California on 7 August at 13:00. We must see the Vasa museum and the archipelagos! My question is, best lodging location for these activities and airport transport, our schedule more flexible because we aren't on a cruise this time? Thanks in advance.

Thanks to both of you, these are great suggestions! The car rental may work, we have plenty of time to Google driving directions and decide where we want to go.

Without luggage we would taxi around. Suggestions, such as a towncar that stays with us but doesn't cost a fortune? And I heard of a cruise to airport luggage service? We have about 6 hours, maybe to museum in Tacoma? Thanks for any ideas.

I too loved the Celebrity Package, no requirement that my roomie purchase one also. So I am surprised that HAL says she must. Oh well, HALS loss :) she doesn't drink much.

As someone said, Happiness IS the sea! The feel of the ship as we move, the views of endless ocean or crowded ports, the blissful sleep and gentle (mostly) awakening shudder of the engines stopping.....love it all!

My boyfriend will fly from Paris to Rome to join me pre-cruise. any comments/warnings about RyanAir & transport from their airports? seems they don't fly from Charles De Gaulle to FCO. Thanks!
Is it worth upgrading to Neptune suite from Signature suite
in Holland America Line

Yes, we have them, but we have more separation in the Neptune. When I travel with my sweetheart, we share space that we wouldn’t with a friend.
