  1. My family and I were on the Escape the first week of December. It was the first time we have been to Tortola and during my research I read quite a lot about leaving the port. Everything I read mentioned how awesome it was to be winding in and out of the mountains.

Boy were they right. Be sure to be on a balcony or up where you can see how beautiful it is.

I used my GoPro to make a time lapse video of it....

  2. Hi

We are have cruised P&O and RCL and are looking at booking a family holiday on Escape. There will be 10 of us in total ranging from 2 years to 56 years.

Could anyone give me advice on the family cabins that my daughter will require for herself and the two children. Would and inside be to cramped. Which would give her the best room. I think she would worry about having balcony so it would be either an inside or ocean view. The children will be 2 and 6.

    Thanks

    Bev

We were on the Escape the first week of December. There were 10 of us in our group as well.

We had a family balcony room. In that room were my wife and I and our two boys aged 4 and 1. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in there but when we were in there it was enough space. Also we had a bulky stroller that we had to keep in there too. We found the balcony to be a blessing at some points during the week. Some nights the kids needed to go down earlier then other nights. On those nights we grabbed some drinks and sat on the balcony. It was quite nice.

Also we felt very safe with the balcony. There is a lock on top and also the railing is quite high with no opening on the bottom.

  3. Hey there, I am close to booking a private taxi to go from the cruise port to Brewers Bay with 10 people. We are going to book through BVI 360. However they are asking for payment up front. I have reserved private taxis on a bunch of other different islands and payment was always made after the ride. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone have experience with this company?

    Thanks

  4. You will love Coki Beach. Just some tidbits:

When you first arrive, someone will come up and greet you.

They will escort you down to the beach and escort you to their section. My advice is look around and see what area you want to be in. If you like the section, great. If you want to go to another section, let them know.

All the workers have sections on the beach and the people in their section is who they wait on all day. And they work hard. They pretty much have it organized. This is how they make their money.

If you want to snorkel, get chairs and umbrella in front of dive shops.

Music will start around noon. All of Bob Marley hits are played.

I like to sit in the middle section. We get the same server every time we are there. She's awesome!

There's different menus on the beach. From burgers to seafood. I recommend for lunch the Snapper, rice and peas, salad and plantains. Delicious! Just let your server know what you want.

I put footage on "youtube" from this past May when we were on the NCL Escape.

    I'll be there this December. Can't wait!:D

We'll be there in December as well on the Escape. 3rd time in St Thomas but first time heading to a beach. Is this beach suitable for a 4 year and 14 month old?

  5. Hi! We will be in Tortola in December for a short day, from 7am to 3pm. We will have our 14 months old baby with us as well as my parents and in-laws.

What would you recommend as far as excursions and activities?

    Thank you!

We will also be there with our 14 month old in December. So far from what I have researched the best beach location with kids would be Brewers Beach. Not too crowded and shallow water. The only concern my wife has is the taxi ride over to the beach.

  6. No, that cabin is not angled balcony. If you look at the deck plans, 9186 is the nearest angled to your cabin, just to give you some reference of how they appear on the deck plans. Also, if you look at a photo of the ship, you are just forward of District Brewhouse, up one deck. (You'll be able to look in there from your balcony), but you can see in a photo that all those cabins are flush.

I might be off a cabin or 2 from yours in my lovely drawing, but this gives you an idea:

Ah I see that now, thanks

This ended up being my beer of choice, Little sumping' sumping' Soooooo good and I think it had something around 7.5%.

By the way on day 1 you pay for taxes on your drinks of the drink package. The way the package works is that they swipe the card and don’t give you a receipt or anything. I never had an issue with erroneous charges or anything. Although at times the Iconsierge app would show bad info, but if you check on the TV system all is good. Since there were no receipts, we carried dollars to tip them extra.

Service at the bars was excellent, the most we ever waited was about 5 minutes. The crew in general was exceptional, I still wonder if I was on the ship as all the people that complained before.

And guess who was out of battery on her phone

Can you explain a bit more of the taxes part on day 1? Is it just for that day? Whats the tax rate?

Also are all the beers (under $15) in the Brew House included?
