  1. Not sure why they discontinued on the ships that offer the digital version. Would have been nice for them to just adjust to unlimited digital with a few prints (10?) and then repackage as digital offerings for other ships as they were able to roll out. Have loved the digital only option on other (not to be named) cruise lines and no need to lots of prints to lay around my house.

My family and I are scheduled to go on Carnival Horizon out of NYC in June and were looking forward to purchasing this package. Was just waiting to get my Carnival Gift Card (10% off) from Allstate Drivewise Rewards. Hoping they will bring back on digital enabled ships before we set sail - otherwise we will not buy any pictures as they are far too expensive to justify.

  2. I am booked with Capt. Bob Soualiga tours in November. The tour looks fun to me... I will report back

Did Soualiga Destinations tour with Capt. Bob in Nov 2013. It was a GREAT excursion. So much fun that we are doing it again in October when we sail on Oasis of the Seas. However, it is not really an 'island tour' if that is what someone is looking for. There are some parts of the island that get pointed out as you are going past on the boat - but if you are really looking to see different things on the island - this is a boat / water-based 6 hour excursion.

That being said - we thought about doing something different this time around but after discussing other 'land based' tours, we decided go with Capt. Bob again. Capt Bob does a great job with the excursion - everywhere we went was beautiful, the boat was so much fun, and the food was delicious. Try the Guavaberry Colada when you stop for lunch - yummy!!! You will have a blast in November!!!! :)

  3. When my family went (3 cabins total) we used large round peel and stick decals that are dry erase along with dry erase markers that had a magnet/eraser in the cap. Worked great - 'boards' were secure and peeled off easily at the end of the cruise. We brought extra markers just in case but no issues. Had a few friendly notes once in a while but nothing inappropriate. Will definitely do it next time as well.

  4. I have cruised on the Celebrity Summit - as well as two different NCL cruises (though not on the Dawn or in a suite) with teenagers

NCL - unless you eat in specialty restaurants, the food has been average and the freestyle dining often meant longer waits. Celebrity - food was much better in my opinion. Kid/Teen Clubs - have to give the edge to Celebrity; NCL had limited hours on our last cruise that were not as convenient. NCL has the edge on entertainment - though Celebrity was still very enjoyable. Also - great perk of the Celebrity Summit specifically - the thalassotherapy pool on the Summit. It is covered & heated if weather is still cool in May and a great way to get in some relaxation in general.

Overall, Celebrity offers a more 'upscale' experience - though still relaxed enough for a family and not as extreme as the high-end cruise lines. I would definitely stick with the Summit.

My youngest daughter was 6 when we went on Celebrity Summit. My son was 5 when we just sailed on NCL Epic in November - so a pretty decent baseline to compare that age group on the two different cruise lines. BE SURE to check info on the kids clubs for NCL before making a decision - on our last cruise the kids club was always closed between 12-2 and 5-7 on at sea days. This was really tough going back and forth to the kids club...or trying to schedule other 'grown up activities'. Seemed like as soon as you dropped them off - you were figuring out when to leave to go pick them up. Not nearly as relaxing as I had hoped.

  6. I am not picky about my syrup (yes I do use store brands sometimes)...but the syrup was HORRIBLE. I could not eat the pancakes or waffles if I put the syrup on it. There was sugar-free on board the Epic that looked to be Smuckers brand. I opted for the fruit on top of the waffles - or just chose other things for breakfast. I have never had such bad syrup!

  7. Just off the Epic this past Saturday. Height requirement is 48 inches for all 3. My 5 year old DS loved the water slides. They do get dark inside - but he loved them just the same. He does not swim & he was just fine - they do not end in a swimming pool. The only thing he did do was hold his nose close to the end so that water did not go up his nose. The Epic plunge (orange/yellow slide) did close one day at sea because of high winds ... guess they did not want the intertubes flying off the ship :).

On the sea days, I believe the slides were open from 10-6. Not sure about the port days as we were off the ship all day.

  8. I actually decided to go with Sunny Liston's tour for a couple reasons even though he is a little more expensive than Godfrey's Tours.

First and foremost, I had friends of mine visit me a couple weeks ago and when we started talking about our upcoming cruise - they told us about this 'fabulous' tour they had in St. Thomas that did a little bit of everything. They could not remember the name - but immediately when I mentioned Sunny's name they knew it was him. Secondly, when I contacted both of them, the response from Sunny/his staff seemed much more responsive and professional - though they both seemed very nice. Lastly, our group really wanted to visit Sapphire Beach & Godfrey's Tours said they do not go to that beach - that we would have to choose between Coki Beach and Magen's Bay.

Sunny Liston's tour was my initial choice & I almost second guessed myself. Think I am sticking with my gut on this one.

  9. We are going to be in St. Thomas in November with group of 6. We are looking at some tours as we want to have the opportunity to shop, go to a beach for a couple hours & get an island tour/go to Mountain Top.

We have narrowed it down to Sunny Liston Tours & Godfrey Tours as they are less expensive than the cruise ship excursions. Anyone have any feedback as to which is better?

We are leaning towards Sapphire Beach as the choice for the beach & know that according to Godfrey Tours, they do not currently go there. However, if Godfrey Tours is significantly better than Sunny Liston - we would choose a different beach location for the day.

Does anyone have any feedback on either of these tour operators...or perhaps other similar alternatives with another operator? Trying to firm up my plans for November...
