  1. We used Uber in Paris a lot in March.

Tons of cars, very quick to arrive and cheap!

For 4 of us it was really good value and much more pleasant than using the Metro - which we renaimed "the sewer".

    The iPhone app worked fine.

Hoping to use in Nice next week - if there's any fuel......

  2. My original impression was that Sunset would remain open for breakfast and lunch, then sometime in the late afternoon be transformed into Kibo. As stated before, not happy about losing it for dinner, but not necessarily a deal breaker.

If it will no longer be open for breakfast and lunch as well, then as far as we are concerned - no more Azamara.

  3. We and our friends are very disappointed with the prospect of losing the Windows outside dining for dinner. The food is really great (vastly improved over the last couple of years), the ambiance brilliant, and on many cruises we have eaten here every night.

We will certainly not be paying a surcharge to eat Asian and the Poolside Grill area will not compensate.

Oh well, Seabourn have a great back deck dining experience......

  4. I have it on good authority that part of the planned refit for both ships is a remodelling/new philosophy of the outside dining experience.

The plans include refurbishment of the Windows Cafe Outdoor space to change it to an "oriental speciality restaurant" for dinner, with a cover charge. (It will still be open normally for breakfast and lunch).

We are disappointed with this proposal as we love to have dinner here as often as possible (weather permitting) and on some of our cruises have not once ventured into the MDR. There is nothing quite like enjoying dinner on a warm evening overlooking the stern of the ship, and we often sit out there with our friends until closing time.

They are also refurbishing the Pool Grill to make it "smarter" and it will be open for dinner. But the location, in my opinion, is nowhere near as good as the back of the ship, as it is enclosed.

We are emailing Azamara directly to air our concerns, as there is still time for them to change the plan. Anyone else who enjoys the ambiance of the rear deck in the evening could also email them as the more correspondence, the better.

  5. Recently back from Singapore, Bangkok, Vietnam and Hong Kong on Azamara Quest.

In Bangkok we arranged tours with Bangkok Day Tour: bangkokdaytour@hotmail.com. No deposit taken in advance. Danni answered all email questions promptly. Our guide "Kik" met us straight off the ship and was excellent; she went out of her way to accommodate us on both days and had a great sense of humour.

Saigon (HCMC) and Mekong we had "Zoom". dungzoom@gmail.com. Deposit by PayPal. Excellent guide, good English, extensive knowledge, and great "Pho"! (That's Vietnamese noodle soup with beef - he took us to Pho 2000 where Clinton went.) In the Mekong Delta he was joined by a local guide who was absolutely charming, and again, the included lunch was great.

Da Nang for Hoian we joined another couple who had arranged Smile Tours. info@smiletoursvietnam.com. Again, punctual, helpful and no problems whatsoever.

For Halong Bay and Hanoi we arranged with Mrs Ha; info@discovervietnam.com.vn: She asked for credit card details for a deposit but didn't charge it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful, with good English. It was Tet New Year's Eve the day of the Hanoi tour and the ship's tours had been re-arranged (they even re-arranged the ship's arrival time!). I emailed Mrs Ha from the ship to make sure all would be OK and she mailed back to say she had checked and all would be well. Our guide asked if we could start an hour early from the ship and the day went according to plan, we visited everything on the itinerary - he had planned the timing perfectly.

Be advised that the Vietnam tour guides require your passport details in advance to arrange Port passes.

We kept our tours to 4 people; plenty of room in the vans and tons of room on the Halong Bay junk which could have carried at least 30 or 40!

I would have no hesitation in recommending all the tour guides above.
